Information was released about the game and what Alexander Brandon uses to create the music for the game in an article posted on the official Jazz Jackrabbit website before the game's release:
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 will be one of the first games to feature high quality background music and sound effects throughout the game. Using a mixture of ScreamTracker .s3m and Impulse Tracker .it files, these formats allow tracks to be composed with up to 16 channels with 16 bit samples. Best of all, the music in Jazz 2 will be played back at CD Quality levels (44Khz) ensuring that you get crystal clear, high quality music throughout the game. In total, there will be between 25 and 30 music tracks in the game. Alex uses Sound Forge 4.0 to create the samples used in the tracks, and both Scream Tracker & Impulse Tracker to compose the tracks themselves. Alex has been composing music for over 10 years and has been involved in many classic Epic games such as Tyrian and Extreme Pinball. As well as composing the music for Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Alex is also working on Epic's other highly anticipated title Unreal.
Starting out on the Amiga, Alex progressed to the PC where he started receiving lots of positive feedback from his work. He joined the demo scene under the nickname of Siren, later changing to Sandman, with Kosmic where his music can be heard in a demo named Night Vision. Although he is not part of Kosmic now due to other commitments, he still has a lot of respect for the scene.
Alex likes many kinds of music except bad rap, bad reggae and some classical pieces. Inspirations for his music have come from top musicians Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Dream Theater, Tangerine Dream, John McLaughlin, Howard Jones, Thomas Dolby and two very well known American MOD musicians, Basehead and Necros. This wide range of musical tastes allows Alex to create stunning pieces of work in many different styles.
When asked about working on Jazz 2, Alex replied: "Its my chance to do the best work I've ever done and make the game shine that much more, I hope. I'm tired of game music not being noticed. :)"
