Another conversion by Violet CLM. Not really sure what to say, except good job, and Happy Birthday to Sal, the foo. =)
EDIT: After some looking at the tileset, I decided to give it 0.5 higher. Yay. ;-p[This review has been edited by KJAZZ]
Of course, if I uploaded it any later, it would be even further away from Sal\‘s birthday. And it\‘s fun to look at the download page and see two things from you at once. So let\‘s just forget the timing, ok?
This tileset is ripe.. in history.
Back in the JJ1 days, Deserto was one of my favorite tilesets. When I found the Deserto conversion that came with JJ2, I was happy, until I noticed the masking was awful. Some time ago, I aquired (by some method I forget) a conversion of Deserto by Tarquin. The transparencies were fixed, a few tiles were added (rotated sand and some new stuff), so I was happy.
Then, recently enough, I made a race level (some of you may have played it online) using the Deserto conversion. As you can imagine, I was mortified when I found the palette was not JJ2 compatible. Disguise had recently told me how to edit palettes, so I got a gleam in my eye. Theoretically.
I set about fixing the palette. It took me several days (and soon afterwards I found a much faster way of doing it), but it got done. I also added two textured backgrounds, fixed the masking and transparency, etc.
A few days ago, I released the Sluggion conversion. Originally, Deserto was going to be in the same .zip, but then I remembered something. It was missing tiles. So I released Sluggion on its own, and set about completing Deserto.
Today, it got finished. Mostly animations were added, but some other stuff was missing too, and I like it better now, obviously.
This is also my birthday present to Sal, as in sAlAmAnDeR DM. Back when the palette was awful, he gave it a chance. He even liked the polka dot text color, which sadly is no longer available. So I put a framed picture of him in the tileset. Now, it\‘s right after his birthday, so I changed around the mask to celebrate him.
Happy slightly late birthday, Sal. And thanks, Tarquin.

A very good Tileset.
Ther are some very good tiles added like the cool spikes ;P, and the plack
of sal is a good idea for his birthday
(yes a happy birthday to sal)
The tiles and background are all cool,
and the masking is well done.
Good job violet on releasing this cool tileset (my birthdays on november 29th ;P j/k)
The masking is interesting at bottom ;P. It is well remapped and certainly easy enough to use.

Hmm…
a good modification to a conversion of deserto, a very nice jj1 world, in my in-experenced eye. Good looking and quite satisfying effect…
Well in total that makes 13-15 JJ1 Tilesets so far…. Hmm, that means that about 4 JJ1 worlds + 1 planet have been converted, if anybody needs wants all the JJ1 sets that have been converted so far you can email me, err I need to get New’s Mayhem (3 JJ1 sets in it).
The tileset is done well, great job u 2.
Deserto music rocks! And tileset too! :)
Thanks, will someone please make a Fanolint tileset?[This review has been edited by Blackraptor]
Wow, this is great, this looks awsome, I sure like what you’ve done to my old conversion (I’m Tarquin), the new animations are sweet![This review has been edited by Crono]
This is a nice tileset!
Has all [I believe] the orig tiles from Deserto, palette’s good, anims are good, I think this set deserves a second look from anyone.
Buggage wasn’t really an issue, which is nice. A second water animation is present in the set [though it looks cruddy], and the silhouettes of the Jazz1 guys is in the set! Yay!
Maybe a little more things like slightly more eyecandy would’ve been nice, but still it gets a dl rec.
This is good conversion!I see a good disaign!Sorry for my bad english!
