Ok, just let me clear this up: Robert Allen wrote the music for JJ1, Alexander Brandon wrote it for JJ2. First came Robert, then Alex. :p

Whoever thinks this is the very first midi of Jazz Jackrabbit to be released, guess again. www.vgmusic.com has a couple of Jazz midis in the DOS and Windows section (of HH94 bonus, Tubelectric, Medivo and Pezrox). See for yourself :p

Now, a general note about midis: how it sounds like depends on the midi driver you’re using. Each midi driver has its own set of instruments. Change driver = change instruments played in the midi (I’m using Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth).

The midi itself doesn’t sound to bad, tho I’ve heard better. The main problem with this song is that the instrument just… stop in an instant, as in beep. Having them fade out at some places would have been a better choice. Also, the instuments chosen don’t exactly fit the choatic nature of Tubelectric. The melody is intact however, as well as the tempo.

    Verdict:
A faithfull adaption of Tubelectric, it’s just a shame it didn’t have better sounding instruments. However it’s a nice try and deserves recognition, considering you don’t see Jazz midi’s all around the web.

P.S. If there’s anything I can’t stand it’s “I’ll review it later”. What’s the point in saying that? If you’re gonna review it later, then don’t post a review at all!
P.P.S. To all the newbies out there, JJ2 can not play midi’s in-game. You need something like MediaPlayer if you want to hear it.[This review has been edited by JelZe]

A nice midi. At the 1:12 minute, you hear a sound, that actually doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the song.

After that, it sounds a little strange… And after that, the main sound continues, and that sounds okay.

I don’t really like the beginning of the song, because it just. Stops. Jelze said that already :P

    But an nice song.

Stares at the striked text by Cooba Only j2l (level) works xP? Multiple things work. Look at the “JCS” section of j20. JJ2 can use alot more than only j2b ;)

    Midi won’t work with levelsw.

Nice conversation, and good instrument using. It’s really similar than the original, and it’s a good thing, because it’s just a midi. Yes, I think the begining of this track is a little empty, but it’s by that, because the bass havent got too long sound, and I think this track would be better with a “longer” bass instrument, but it’s only stange in the first few seconds of the track. Oh, and the good thing is, some of the JJ Fan Game makers can easily use this midi in game maker.
    Good work, AcId! =)

(I don’t understand, why everybody complaining about non j2b formats. “It can’t works with JJ2…” USE WINAMP! It works with midi and module files too, for listen.)

    i like it good job

i may put in a Game that uses MIDI files !

(how did you make it and how do you make Jazz2 music?)

This is a short review. It has less impact on the upload's score.

Well… What i’ve got is the real Tubelec from JJ1 (MP3 + S3M)… When I compared your MIDI and the real one I prefered the real one! But you did a great job! It’s almost impossible to create a exactly copy of JJ1 music with the “Microsoft GS Wavetable”… They used “Universal sound module” and “SB Audigy Synth” at the most of the songs… And the Loop that you used the guitar on, that sound doesn’t seems to exist =/… But if you changed the guitar to “Echo pad” in the “SB Audigy Synth” it sounded very cool! You should hade done that! If u had done I would have rated this with 9.0… And I promiss that!

6.0 score for the instrument / effect choise!

8.0 score for the song total

But all these MIDI’s can’t be puted into a Jazzlevel (That i hope you already know ;)…) I have no use of your MIDI’s in the Game!

    7.0 Score total!

(I’m on Chrysilis and will soon add it here so let me take care of Chrysilis OK? ;)…)[This review has been edited by Delvour]

    It is not working.

Woah! The compact form of MIDI and the 1337ness of Jazz in one package!

    Anyways, review:

Since the MIDI system changes with different computers, sometimes this MIDI will sound rux0r (If, for example, you use a sound card from 1995 (AWE64 FOREVEA!)), and other times, it will sound like complete crap (If, for example, you’re running the Windows XP Midi Mapper). In leiu of this, do NOT use my review as a guide for downloading this MIDI. Only read it for your ameusement ONLY.

Nice job, although at 1:11, the orchestra hit sounded weird and did not follow-through, like the hit in Tubelectric. Also, some of the notes were a note lower or a note higher then usual.

Rating : N/A, for obvious reasons.

Waits for Bjarni to come in and complain that it doesn’t work with JJ2

To clear a few things up:

    - I made this MIDI using Microsoft GS Wavetable. Strangely, this is the only MIDI library on the sound card that came with my Compaq, which I’m pretty sure is recent.

    - The orchestra hit is used at 1:11 because I could not find any instrument that sounded like what it normally does in Tubelectric.

Edit: Sonictth, I am not lying. Are you saying nobody is skilled enough to make a midi conversion such as this, or that Robert Allen wrote Tubelectric? I did give credit to Robert Allen for writing the original Tubelectric, but I myself did write this MIDI conversion.[This review has been edited by Acid]

Rawk. I have a few MP3s that I’m probably going to upload when I get off my lazy arse. In any case, ruxulent song.

EDIT: Scratch last. I have to re-write the songs. Because I am tehsux. =D[This review has been edited by 4I Falcon]

This is a pretty good attempt on recreating the Tubelectric track to MIDI. (This is ESPECIALLY on the plain MS GS Wavetable Synth.)
(Unsupported rating (9) removal. I honestly don’t know if you downloaded the file or not, and if that’s the case, then you have failed as a reviewer. ~Violet)
