Hello!
A new Single Player-episode is online!
This is the story:
Somewhere on Carrotus is a famous glacier, the most beautiful glacier from all planets in the space. But Devan is going to melt it with his glacier-melter! Only Jazz, Spaz and Lori are able to find Devan and ruin his plan. Yes, they are back and ready for the adventure!
Do not forget to rate this episode after you’ve played it!
No really, don’t!
Have fun!
Greetings,
Ischa
At these times, single player levels start to be ordinary. So in my opinnion sp the second hardest section to make a good job. (The first is tileset)
Because of that, building good levels doesn’t make sense. You have to make sth different. You can make an extra-ordinary story or make a jj2 version of an old game, or you may put some interesting stuff in the levels. Otherwise, you can’t have a high mark.
Except these, the eyecand, enemies and other stuff are good. The point is, no fun! So i will give you a 7.7 for your level design.
I never found out how to complete the first level and it was passworded.
The story is bland, but the music(with the exception of the Maze Level) creates a mood of Urgency through the four short levels. Unfourtantly, with the exception of the second level, it never feels as if there is anything urgent going on. In 3/4 of the four levels all you do is hunt down trigger zones. Players of the more recent “Time Rabbit” episode will recongize the ‘ACCESS GRANTED” text strings. In fact, the boss level feels like a carbon copy of the ‘Boss Championship’ pack. It’s rather sad to see Ischa’s newer packs just being carbon copies of this one. Another thing that you’ll notice is that in the levels, getting to the end area is a breeze. But the end areas are always cryptic in what you’re supposed to do to enter them. This is actually fairly fun, until you’re scrounging about randomly the same locales multiple times. Another downer is that all of the levels are amazingly short. Like really short. I think the whole thing as a whole could really just be in one level if there wasnt a change required for music.
Another thing that ticked me off- The official boss music was replaced. This means once I’m done with the pack I have to re-replace the boss music. All in all, you get a 4.4 mainly for a lack of length, difficulty rarely kicks in at all until you’re about to leave a level, replacing the boss music without any warning until the pack is downloaded and unzipped, ho-hum Boss Arena, and finally tasks that rarely move past “Find Trigger! Now Find Another one!”
Still D/R. Why? Because it’s short, and is highly possible that you can squeeze entertainment from it.
Good job. You made a very good episode.
Continue so, friend.
Greetings,
Gus.
[Inappropiate rating (10) removal. No single reason was provided why this episode was good. You have to have good reasons to rate it 10. – FQuist.
Ok. Here’s a new rating. I rate it 8 because i think it’s better so. The story of the glacier is a good theme. I like this episode. It has many enemies and it has the water in the third level.
[Inappropiate rating (8) removal. Sooo… care to explain why it’s an 8? Please say what’s good and bad about this level – saying you “like” something and that it has “many enemies” and “water” is not good enough. A level can have a ton of enemies and be worth a 1. I’m not saying this episode is worth a 1, but you need to explain yourself. – FQuist]
Well, I will do.
Rating Eyecandy:
Ischa used most of the tileset eyecandy in all the levels.
8.
Rating Events:
There are not so many ammo and there are a lot of enemies.
4.
Rating Gameplay:
I can play it and have a lot of fun. It’s good. Triggers are cool. But i must save the game if I want to complete it.
6.
Rating Puzzles:
The maze in the alarm level is good, and even the rest.
8.
7.2
Musics used are good. Inserting the Summer Planet was cool. It’s a favourite J2O musics of mine. Though, it was better placed in other kinds of levels. Alarm is a good ambient sound. And the others were also placed well.
