This is Carrotus and Castle in 1: Carrastle!!
I have played levels from Carrotus and the Castle on Carrotus, and i thought: “Why is this not in 1 tileset??”
So,
ENJOY!!!!
(April 15, 2009) WOW!! A recommended download!!! Thank you so much for the high ratings!!! This is my FIRST recommended download!!!!
(April 16, 2009) :’( Someboy rated a 3, and now it isn’t recommended anymore. (crying)
Re-uploads
+Added some connecting tiles.
+FINALLY: THE TEXTURED BACKGROUND WORKS!!! WOOOHOO!
Sorry for the ugly carrots, but if i didn’t make
them like this, JCS would say: Too much colors
in palette. How suck.
+ Fixed some palette bugs:
The carrotus pole works.
The pinbal paddles work, but the 500 Bump didn’t! Could ANYBODY tell me what’s wrong?
+Fixed the carrots (and pumpkins), and worked at the background of the example level.
Tileset like this was made in the past (the tileset “Froggy”), but his tileset is better and very usefull.
The main bug in this tileset is the sky of the carrotus tileset, but it is not so bad.
I like the idea of combine two different tileset, and I hope you will make another tilesets like this in the future.
I think, it’s a good tileset but you created it very easy! There aren’t special blocks or objects in the tileset, only carrots on some castle blocks. My rating is 6.2.Dowload recommendation!

Good idea and good tileset!
Two tilesets in one, like in foomerge? Is it bad, or is it good?
Much could be improved here, at least. Some of the bad masks could be fixed, like the spikes on castle tileset, and it could use new tiles: You could make something that makes the castle blend with the grass, like it would really be built there, you know what I mean. The two tilesets are just sticked together in same…
Improvements in rebuild: 1.8
Also, the pallette is somewhat wrong: Sky and carrots look abit too light in carrotus part. Objects, like Jazz and weapons, look OK. Pinball stuff and snow don’t work like normally in these tilesets, but water looks nice.
Pallette: 2.4
This idea isn’t bad at all, just how you have done it isn’t the best. You could fix things here and there, make your own tiles or something and it would look really nice. Keep doing those tilesets and levels, there must come something nice someday soon!
Pros:
+ Nice idea, allthough it has been used before
+ Pallette is OK
Cons:
- Bugs in tilesets aren’t really fixed
- Carrots and sky in carrotus part looks a little too light.
- Could use more stuff added.
EDITION:
Since the tileset was edited, I removed my final rating. The new tiles look nice.
When reviewing a tileset such as this you need to remember to review only the effort in joining the tilesets and not the art that is drawn by someone else.
Joining two tilesets is more about recoloring and editing existing tiles. Running out of colors isn’t an excuse for a job not done, as you have over two hundred colors available and the possibility to edit current tiles to fit the new color schemes is there.
This seems more like the author ran the sets through a color reduction program and splattered them into whatever available space a pre-made palette.
Although the idea of Carrotus joined with Castle in one tileset is interesting, the choices of tiles still need to be well thought and the colors well handled.
I apologize, but download is not recommended.
Well not bad, but not perfect.
What this is: This is basically the castle and carrotus tileset put in a blender and compiled. While I do agree that this is a good idea, some things could have been changed.
Color
For the most part, the color looks good. Castle looks the same and carrotus looks the same. The only problem is with the carrots, they look bad. The textured background looks good and looks corrected. Overall, good colors.
8/10
Pallet Events
This is a big hitter. Almost non of them work. even the carrotus pole doesn’t work. The only thing that works well is the Textured background and water. Just the fact the carrotus pole doesn’t work really hurts this.
2/10
Ease of Use
Well this is a quite a bit harder to use then the other tilesets. You kinda need to know them both to use them effectively. Even so, it’s still easy to use.
7/10
Usability
This tileset is very usable. You can make quite a couple of combinations. That being said, it’s still only castle and carrotus, meaning you’re limited to those two themes. Even so, there’s still quite a bit of re-usability here.
7/10
Added stuff
Almost nothing. All that really has been added are the connection tiles. There could have a lot more that could have been added.
2/10
Mask
Almost non of the masking bugs have been fixed. that being said, the masking still works most of the time. I would have liked the masking fixed.
6/10
Final Score:31/60
Score:5.5
Rank C
DR? Well this is a hard one. This is a good tileset, but I think a lot more could have been done (Mask fix, more tiles)other then just pasting the two tilesets together. Still, if you want something like this, go ahead and download as it does work, just don’t expect anything spectacular.
Edit:I remove my rating since there was another update.
Doesn’t one of these exsist already?
I tried that djazz, but is STAYS ugly!
>:(
AND the neon colors of pinball events is because of the necessary colors of the carrotus pole.
i could be better for me if it was 1.23 x_x
WOW! Thsi is a really great JJ2 tileset conversion! Sry for the carrots, but’s still cool =D
Rate: 9 of 10 due to the pinball events & carrots, and try to change the color of the pinball events instead of neon-green
Download: Absolutley ;)
To fix the 500 bump and carrot bump, put those colors in tileset, took a long time and many tries before I figured this out =)
