This level is very open, huge walk ways, not very much eye candy except for the walls on the background. There are also loads of weapons.
Nothing special, suited for a 7.2
This is a fairly large (100×100) CTF level using Blade’s “Wasteland” tileset. I designed it to be quite open so there is a lot of room to dodge shots. Also, a large portion of the ground is slanted, which makes bouncers your worst friend. Although much of the level can be skipped while traveling between bases, it is much wiser not to take the quickest path because all the good stuff is at the bottom of the level (the bases are at the top), such as fastfires, a bouncer powerup, and a carrot.
Although there is no background besides layer 8 because the tileset lacked material, the layer 4 eyecandy makes up for that. Included in this pack are two versions of the level: EvilCTF0102, and EvilCTF0102 NW, which has no secret area to balance the level.

“Smog CTF” is a great CTF map using Blade’s well-known and very good looking “Wasteland” tileset (despite the fact that it’s pretty easy to use, as EvilMike admitted when i was beta-testing, i really like the idea of using this set).
The design is quite open which makes the level fluently playable and the CTF layout is fair enough, as far as i, as a battle freak, can judge this. The weapon selection is very good, too. Nothing to complain about.
Still, there is a small downfall. The music (“The Take Over II” by a not-so-well-known belgian tracker) is not my favourite tune, sounds like a cheap techno beat, it doesn’t really fit and the file is WAY too large…over 1 MB!
All in all, this is definitely WORTH THE DOWNLOAD, esspecially if you like CTF and Blade’s tilesets :-)
P.S.: Kinda obtrusive already(?)…EvilMike forgot to set a SP start event once again…i had to test it in MP mode…
People use only little my tilesets. I’ve seen levels made with my tileset now about 4. They were all trash. Finally Evilmike made a quality level with Wasteland. This is the best level made with my tileset I’ve seen. The level is pretty large, but it feels about two times times larger because of the brilliant level design. The weapon placement is a bit different than in most of the levels, it is only good.
Nobody knows it but I designed a background for layer 6 and 7, but I never released it. I thought that it would look little bit messy. I tried the background in Evilmike’s level (I hope you don’t go mad, comrade) and it fit nicely. But I’m still not sure for releasing the background. I think i will improve it someway and release then… maybe. I’m planning to make a single player episode with my tileset. That might be a good time.
Good work Evilmike! Continue making good levels!
P.S: If you (right you front of the monitor) are making a level with my tileset I’ll preciate it if you could tell me about it.[This review has been edited by Blade]
