This is a level I have been working on for a while. I had an idea of making a quite big level made for events. Also, I was inspired by Horizon Approaching because that opened up a whole new way of making MP levels. That level has many PUs and carrots and in the past I have made levels with not that many PUs and carrots (usually 4 max) so that’s why I decided to make a level with 6 PUs and 6 carrots. The level is also inspired by Acht by Loon, and that’s why I called it Zes (which means six in Dutch while Acht means eight) As for the music, this is a music file that FawFul used in an old version of Downtown Maze but he replaced it in the end. I really liked the music, so then I got an idea of using it in a level myself. I just didn’t have a tileset yet.
So I decided to use Mega Megatropolis 1.23 again. I have used this set twice before, and the levels I made with them weren’t that good. This time I tried my best to make it look good and I tried to be a bit original with some parts of the layout. For example, there is an underground and some unusual stuff like several vines with one ways above them. This level was made especially for the Anniversary Bash 18 and I am just in time with uploading.
So overall, even though I was inspired by a few levels I added some of my own ideas as well. I hope you enjoy this level!
Probably one of DS’ best levels yet in terms of gameplay. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this level during ab18 and the last JDC.
I like this level a lot. I think what it’s missing is some more interesting fight environments, as currently no matter where you encounter an enemy, the fight is likely to go down more or less the same way. I also think the theme could benefit from more distinctive looking eyecandy, since at times it feels like a mismatch of colors and materials.
