Triple Tower Terror | JelZe | Capture the flag | 4 |
Triple Tower Terror Read me Where to start... This level was originally intended to use the 7th Lava Fall set, but I decided to switch to Medivo for these two reasons: 1) It was familiar territory 2) My girlfriend Esmeralda wanted a level with a "red castle", because it reminded her of the first level of mine she saw. Two birds with one stone... The level itself had an idea I wanted to use for quite some time: a CTF in three towers. I'm pleased with how the towers came out, the basement is a whole different matter. I had the tower design on paper, but not the basement, so the latter's done entirely by feeling. In that aspect I think succeeded fairly well. The whole idea is *simplicity*: I've seen lots of levels with tons of ammo and powerups, some even useless (Ice, Electro and Pepper Spray come to mind) aside from filling space. I decided to go against that mind set and only use Bouncer, Toaster and RF (ironically enough, those are the weapons in JJ1) in very little quantities. The rest is all barrels and crates for some nice randomness. Powerups? Just a Blaster, nothing else, not even the dreaded "obligatory" Seeker Powerup. In my opinion Powerups give one an unfair advantage, and I've seen people use Seekers in abundance, spraying them everywhere knowing they always get a kill, especially in CTF where you only have three hearts. That's why I left them out. Speaking of simplicty, it's also the reason why the level looks so bland and empty. Yet again, it's a matter of overabundance overdose, in this case Eye Candy. Simplicity works too, you know, sometimes even better than like using all background layers just to make a level look good. It works for me though, given my limitations. This level is mostly symbolic with it's emptiness, it's like a part of my soul: dreary, chaotic, filled with demons... (Medivo was a perfect choice) Just at night mind you. Coincidentally, it's at JJ2's daily peak, and it's the source of said demons. How fitting. That aside, this will probably be my final contribution to this community. Yes, I plan on leaving, and have been planning for quite a while. It's not that I don't like JJ2 anymore, heaven's no. But the thing is, I don't feel at home in this community anymore, I don't fit in, for multiple reasons. I'm not gonna list all of them, but those who have been paying attention to me on #jj2 can guess. One reason I can mention is that it's holding me back. I want to do more, but my focus had always been with the "safe haven", making me relunctant to move out. I'd always considered this community as a safe haven, but with my views on the current situation it's not that ideal anymore. The current established culture is not my thing, and probably hasn't been for years, only it hasn't dawned to me till now. It should have earlier, with the number of clashes of ideas I've had with other members. That is all, now go play and enjoy the level! - JelZe GoldRabbit =:3 P.S. *NO* "In memory of... " stuff ok? If you guys still did that, you'll so never see me again. It's old anyhow.
