The Twilight Park | Blade | Tileset | 8.9 |
The Twilight Park ----------------- A JJ2 tileset by Blade Release notes: This is The Twilight Park, the 12th Blade tileset. It's a combination of two themes, park and backyard. There is a great amount of essential tiles and eyecandy tiles to work with. Dirt ground, rocks, paving for more smooth surface, fences of two types, posters and advertisements for the first one, trees and bushes, street lights, pipes, toys, flowers, grass and most importantly, lots of tiles to make swimming pools. The buttstomp and destruct scenery blocks are all new. There are several possibilities to make animations: Flickering street lights and small birds wondering the surroundings. You can build your levels very imaginatively and this time more easily (I hope). I paid attention to the tile arrangement and this Twilight Park version you see here is the fourth. Major tile replacements were made between those versions. The tileset palette is somewhat better than in my previous tilesets. The palette events work now correctly, but I am afraid that the water level event doesn't create completely correct looking water in the 8-bit mode due to an unknown problem in The Twilight Park palette. The Twilight Park was in production for about nine months. Starting from 20th of March to 28th of December 2005. For once again, I did not develop the tileset all that time. There was two very quiet seasons in Twilight Park's development one in the summer 2005 and other in the fall. It took approximately five effective months to finish this set. I am pleased with this Twilight Park. The antialiasing is in use again and I like it a lot. I introduced water in my tileset for the first time ever and I think the pool parts are the nicest in the whole set. The pipes are wonderful too. They are somewhat hard to use I admit, but let me say that there are several invisible tiles to correct the mask problems you might encounter when making pipes. Look at the example level I have provided in this zip package and you'll be just fine. The Twilight Park owes a lot to the TSF tileset City and Agama's Heaven. I'd like to emphasize the greatness of these tilesets. .zip contents: Twilight Park.j2lSingle player example level Twilight Park.j2tThe tileset organic.xm"Organic" by Icicle About my future: It is very uncertain if there will be a 13th tileset. I am not the fastest in tileset making, and in seven months I will begin my service in the Defence forces of Finland. That will take a year of my time. Trust me when I say that Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is for me something really special and there is nothing more fun than designing tilesets and making levels with them. Even then when I might appear dead to the JJ2 community, I just might surprise you all :) Thank you for supporting my tilesets during these six years! I'd like to greet JelZe GoldRabbit for once again listening to my tileset making mumbo jumbo. Greets also go to the Whole JJ2 community. You are a bunch of great people!
