Is this a NICE tileset for a hotel tileset. I thought it’d be a typical hotel tileset that looks bad and plays wore, but this tileset is very good. There’s enough tiles for everything and like Epic’s tilesets there are variants of tiles. Very good indeed. And I’m not joking, get this.
Eh this is a Disguise tileset? Man, Disguise has come a LONG way. Still, back in J2C this would’ve got a fairly high rating. It has an MS-Paintish feel to it, probably cause it was done in Ms Paint. ;)
Still, for his first tileset I’d say it is pretty good.
lol i was expecting something that looked like first blood….but worse lol but dear god this is actually very good and i LOVE those bricks. And now all the newbie clans (no offense ment) can make levels that actually look good (this is by far the best hotel tileset and thus it the levels would naturaly look good)
ga it hurts my eyes but i brings back memores blah blah blah time to stop reading people
When I read the Author’s Description, I had a feeling this would be bad. Sorry, but hotel tilesets usually are. However, I was wrong. This has excellent artwork, good ideas and all the basic tiles.
However, it could use some tiles for things out of the hotel itself. Spikes that look good, sucker tubes, vines, hooks, H/V poles, destruct and stuff blocks…. those would really be nice. Along with more tiles for activities, because a hotel level with nothing but a hotel is boring. That sort of thing.
Good work. Here’s hoping for more levels and tilesets by you two, and good hotel levels using this.[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]
Cool. Why couldn’t I have thought of all those ideas while making my Halloween tileset? :P

>As Evilmike said. I don´t need to repeat him.
Cool and original tileset but it lacks a bit in diff tiles and stuff i wanted to do more :( after a while the set can be bit boring how ever this one is better then te average newbie tileset ;P
The Example level is fun good song yeah it scares the hell out of me
>Old and Odd. Sure this count be better, whatever is old or new.
>Sure Cell you can make great levels fast.
Your are for sure 1 of the best level designers on this world ;)
>As Flash said…
Sorr, i didn´t read the text and im a bit of new here, so i throught this was your first titel-set you ever made

I’ve seen much worse first tilesets!
Much, much worse :)
The eyecandy is not that great, but what’d you expect from a first tileset?
It has most of the standard tiles tough, and even eyecandy decorations and a second platform type. You can’t say that of many early tilesets. ;p
There are forgotten tiles tough, there are no diagonal tiles with a yellow bg(the yellow bg this tileset contains is unmasked and for use in layer 4) and there are no H-poles.
Now, the background is funny, but because it uses the same color as the foreground, there is too little contrast between the fore and background. I don’t know how the author should have solved it, because it adds to the mood too. Maybe make it another kind of dark, just a little bit different from the foreground. The eyes should have been a darker red.
The masking is pretty okay, tough the diagonal tiles are quite useless because you can’t walk up. This is a masking bug. One of the little masking bugs there are, if there are any except this one.
For the rest, well, this is a newbie set. :)
Tough I have to say, at least it has a theme and isn’t as bad as many other tilesets around. If it had a bit more texture, and some more shading(shading is nonexistant :)) it might have gotten a 6.5 or a 7, depending on the quality, but I’ll go with a 5 now. In my book a 5 means effort has been put into the tileset, but it still doesn’t have very good eyecandy.

This shows even Disguide can make ugly sets :P. The set is small, and looks very “MS-Painty”. It has the same evil eyes as the “Darkened Landscape” set, weird spikes (only 5 pixels high), some little bones, some big bones, weird yellow caves which don’t fit too good in the black/red layout of the set, tubes, Something weird (ah, now I see. It’s a spider web), vines, arrows, stuff to make platforms from, and some things I can’t find the “meaning” of. I think it would be unfair to give this higher than a 3,5, because I gave several 3,5s to tilesets with the same quality. The minor setback is the quality. It looks very painty and that’s bad. Well, that’s it. Now skip to the next review..

Another nice tileset by Disguise. Notice how, when people are scrabbling for the 1000th upload, they’re cranking out as much as possible?
Well, onto the review. The tileset looks good and has some basic tiles and a bit of decorative stuff like headstones. It would be better if there were more stuff, maybe a cracked headstone, variations, some creaky old fences, etc. Also, animations. Blinking eyes, wriggling roots or whatever. Otherwise the tileset can look a little plain. Not quite up to usual quality, but as it’s a remake of an old tileset, I’ll let it slide.
I’ll review this level later, just got up.
On another note, if you look at the downloads, you see uploads by Cell about 5 times. Looks like you were cranking out levels in a hurry.
Still can’t d/l this…

Dear Mirrow,
The background in 8-bit sux but the tileset is nice. Ditto what everyone else said above.
Sincerely,
BlurredD
P.S. It’s easy to fix that 8-bit thing. Since you didn’t properly make the background colors with a palette editor (or whatever), it came up all messed up. Just download Palette Suite (which is available at my website) and fix up the palette so the BG.
It also mite be the fact that the BG colors were supposed to fade to black and yet they didn’t. This happens since the final colors in the BG color section aren’t used anywhere else in the tileset. Just make one of those one-tile palette things (as seen in Blade’s tilesets) and that should fix your problem. And I hope what I say here makes sense.
O wait, was the BG problem fixed already??
The Edit: I’m saddened by the way my old reviews were formatted. My opinion has somewhat changed since then. Basically, I think the tileset has a good variety of types of tiles and all, but I’m not too fond of the way all of the tiles look. Most of the tiles only consist of a few colors, so they look flat and a bit dull. And I hate the look of those sand tiles entirely; they’re too squared off and don’t really fit in at all. Also, the 8-bit background, after all this time, still needs to be fixed—or refixed since it apparently was fixed at one point. On the contrary, there are some possibly useful features in this set that almost make up for this, such as the invisible vine and a few of the animations. Overall, it’s a tileset that may take some getting used to, but it has a lot of useful tiles in it. It’s worth using at least once. 8.2 is my new rating.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
