The pack ‘Payback’ by Payback(obvious:D), is a pretty good pack. There are some dead ends, but this is not too bad. The levels are pretty nicely designed, apart from the dead ends pretty circular. Thus, creating pretty fluent gameplay. The use of layers is fine, pretty standard though. The 2 levels, ‘Payback’ and ‘Jungle all the way’(nice, but sorta normal names), both come in a day and night version. Apart from the use of a diferent set, i did’nt realy find diferences between them. The music is not to badly chosen, but the normal Jungle song from the oficial levels would have been beter for the ‘Jungle all the way’ level. Ammo placement is nice, not too much, and not too litle. I would like to give this a download recomendation and 7.5 points.
Just another average lvl pack…not much really. But you put in some good effort. Sry about this, but you only get a 5 from me.
Art looks something like from Seiken Densitsu (Secret of Mana) :)
I thought it would be something similar to Donkey Kong Country’s swamp area.
It’s swamp with autumn trees from my perspective.
Yet, a good tileset that’s well done.
Well…oké,
first of all i want to say “Hey Whitey”
Oke that was step one: Greeting The Author…
Now step two: Talking over blah blah blah…
I did that already yust read evrything all over again!
Now step three: Reviewing the pack…
O.K. here it goes…
Well let’s start with the first level,
Beach Party, a cool level, but a bit small not So small but
it could be bigger because if you really concentrated play the level
you will learn the map of the level in a second its a really simple design.
The Gameplay is ok, there are some crappy places, playing in water sometimes can
have effeckt on the gameplay because places under water are already crappy
swimming trough it will make it more difficult. The Eyecandy does not really Rockz but
its yust simple GOOD eyecandy, much eyecandy will confuse it(like my levels), and that
would be very very sucky…The weapon placement of it is i think OK. You couldnt maybe better not
add RF’s in it, because it throws you evrywhere when you shoot against a
masked tile…its sucky when you fall down in the water, but the level is small so
you are up there in no-time. There is a place what i didnt like so much: The Place at
the right-up corner, it has a bad design there…but i think you did that at purpise…
didnt you!? Well…i think the level is Fine and good…
Now the second level,
Scraper City, a very awesome level, some places crappy but no-matter.
Its a Big level and really high one. The Scrapers are a very Cool Idea…
Also that
There is also a MCE in the level i almost forget in the first level too the JazzJackRabbit2
Sign between the two shelps, the MCE in Scraper City is a jazz what is screaming out the
window ore something…i dont know. Well the Gameplay is Good i wont bug you about that crappy
stuff…the springs are good placed. O yeah there is cool Ambient Sound on the top of the two scrapers!
The Eyecandy is ok, again yust basic but fittable, like the [background]walls in Shops. Weapon Placement
is Ok also maybe a bit more some places because some are hided behind forground Tiles…its sucky when you cant
see them. Oke that was Scraper City, Its a Top-Tip level…
Third level now,
Disco Palace, uhm…its not really a palace but no-matter.
Its a cool level but again SMALL!, there a few obstakels not very problem givers. Yust it isnt Confusing,
but the level…there is something wrong with it, i dont know what! it confused me allot, somehow.
I think [so called] obstakels are bugging me, the Moving ForGround Layers and the Background Layers are fine…
but the standing ones bugged me…Ammo Placement is OK, maybe more PowerUps free without warping.
The Ammo is good placed above Ground and Up of Vines and some other places placed good to.
I Checked something really importans…the H-Poles, when there are two players you can get stuck if they both
players go at the same time on the Pole, one player will get stuck in the ground…but Mister Whitey did good work
here, he put a Warp under the Poles, so when you get stuck you get warped free…good thinking.
The most Builders forget such important Thingis, but you didnt! Disco Palace is a good uhm… level? ore is it Palace?
No-matter, I hope the Coming School-Disco on my School would be so cool like this Disco ;)…Good Work!
4th Level,
Under Destruction, well well well…AGAIN A SMALL LEVEL, this time it does MATTER!!! :P
Its small, the smallynes makes the level crappy, lucky that there is used One-Way Places…,
otherwise it was a full-obstakeld level. This Level is OK the TNT Thingi’s in the ground are cool.
The Gameplay= Dont let me talk about the crappynes, sometimes it confuse me because the Eyecandy is anoying…
(dont think i can make it better). The Weapon Placement is good also but why you dont use Seeker-PU in your level?,
there is need for it!!! I think if you had replace that Pepper Spray-Pu into Seeker-Pu it would be allot better…
O yeah dont use that TNT Stuff in Online Gaming Levels They are Anoying theye are bugging ya, sucking and they dont even
give Damage…Anyway this level is Cool, Cool enaugh for a good rating, but it is very very simple level ;)
You know the Map of the level in a second ore two, because it is SMALL!!! Good Job :P
5th level now
The Waterfall, oke now…im so angry, this level is again so SMALL!!!
Pfff…Whitey, you never learn:P Ok, this is a cool level but little and crappy, some obstakels.
No deadends ore other Stupid Stuff, not much to say about this level.
Gameplay is fine…maybe more One-Way’s, Music is Awesome but not really for that level, because
you cant battle so good in it, the music a bit action type and the level isnt.
The eyecandy is Cool, that Waterfall Idea is Good and there is no other eyecandy, THERE IS but
not so important ones if you know what i mean. The Weapon Placement…STRANGE Ammo Fells out of the air…???
Ha Ha Ha Ha…lol, but it is still a good idea, yust when you are Up somewhere in the level, and you see the PU falling and you go down
to get it…it isnt there, thats a Problem!!! Well oké, cool small little level…
Now the sixth level,
Xmas Evening, now finnaly my favourite level…
This Level RockzZzZz, the Gameplay is Normal, no Problems with it, good and fine…No Problem Giving Obstakels yust little buggies…
The Design on some places is very ugly…like the houses on the ground…on some houses you see black thingis on it…
you didnt use there not so good the Tileset…it could be better.
The Eyecandy is OK, yust basic background tiles on it…good, they are fine. Youve made the Background (layer8) Good…It fits the level.
Weapon Placement is OK too, no problems with it…placed good and you finnaly used seekers and PU…yay!
You used the Tileset Good, the H-Poles are good placed, Pinballs, Suckertubes, Springs are oke and the light is ok.
There are some Deadends…but you can come out of them using the Suckertubes…What was too bad that you better could make a secret places
where the DeadEnds are. O yeah dont think this level wasnt Small because it is, anyway its a GOOD small level, not so small like the others,
this is one like Scraper City, not High but a good level. Well…the music is Standard so i cant say much about it.
Well that was it, MY LONGEST REVIEW EVER!!!Your Pack Deservse it!Be Happy with it, be also with a 8.
Well there is a football Match Between Barcelona VS Galatasaray 0-2…
Yahoo…Hope Galatasaray will win! Go! Go! Go! Now Gotta Go! Smell Ya Later Whitey…
O YEAH, A DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION!!!
This Pack RuLeZzZz…!!!
Don’t worry – there is a level coming. Notice the rest of it? That is a level is progress. I released this as a demo to show how screwy it is, and since then I have sorted it and made 90% of a level out of it, which will be coming soon.
Also, in reply to Mr Magoo, it happened purely by accident. The events obviously managed to mess up in some weird way.
The MUSIC is average: Only one is good, others, YACK!
But good level pack and that jungle level? Why there is lots of big rocks?
Nod’ing else, the BEST level pack
Rating
Everything +:
+Everything but one thing
Everything -
- Only one good mudic, others not.
A nice, well made CTF level. Design and ammo placement are good, triger zones were well used. Get this one now.
It’s a nice battle pack. The eye-candy is generally good (but with a few errors), the layout’s nice, and the levels use nice music. Though that Sky Fight level was my least favorite since the music doesn’t fit too well and it has airboards in it. But I’m not gonna make my hate for airboards hurt the rating too much.
Anyway, the icons are alright and could be use in one of those JJ2 desktop themes (I suppose).
Boring yet glitchy. Needs some more challenges. It’s too short and easy. Add some more to the level and I’ll give it a higher rating.
The glitches were pretty neat, but the level itself stinks. Be sure to tell me how you did that.
yea the boss is screwy. its an allright level with some cool music. you should have put more stuff in it, more challenges, and uploaded it as a single player level. another thing, the boss guys are in the corner because you used belt left, it would be better if the boss moved around.
ive done this thing before with the boss, a major glitch in Jazz2 :)[This review has been edited by Wild Bill]
Eyecandy: 3.5/5
The eyecandy doesn’t contain any huge bugs, but it also isn’t anything special. It’s hard anyways to make detailed eyecandy with the mez tilesets. The tubeelectric jj1 level had some details, I’d say it’s the best level, were it not that it has the worst design of all.(albeit original..)
Design/Gameplay: 3/5
The gameplay isn’t very smooth. You have to do a lot of little manoeuvres that cost you time, which is a no-no in battle. This is exactly the reason I think the tube-electric level is the most original level in the pack, but the worst in design. You have to manoeuvre all the time.. imagine you have to jump into one of those sucker tubes with 10 bobbys chasing you..brrrr.
However, the design isn’t too bad either. It’s pretty original.
Conclusion: 6.5/10
The design could have been more smooth. You can’t have a battle frenzy if you have to spend your time on getting from platform to platform.
You do show that you can make original stuff. Just make it more smooth.
(Fquist’s tip: Put a one way after a exit of a upwards going sucker tube, so you don’t keep bouncing after you’ve left the tube)[This review has been edited by Fquist]
Yes, here we DO go again:P. This is a fairly well constructed level. It uses some diamonds in the walls, wich i dont realy recall seeing before, even though it doesnt look that good. Could be nice for a treasure hunt with jjnowallers;). The design is not too bad here, but still has a few deads ends, wich i dont like too much. The eyecandy is pretty good, but like the other d00ds who reviewed said, it is mostly way to much, making the level confusing, and making it hard for the player to see where he is going. Ammo placement is good, maybe a litle too much, bot its ok. The default music was used, nothing new or good. The JJ1 diamondus song would have been much beter in my opinion, but heck, its your level. It is pretty Jazz unfriendly, having some places where Jazz (almost) cant get up. Gameplay is not too bad, but this definetly plays beter with Spaz then with Jazz. This is a pretty nice level. A 7.0 here. Get this, its not too bad.
All ppl that already have downloaded this pack (what? you didnt do so yet?
Immediately do so!) know that I’ve been one of the betatesters. It was really
cool to see how more and more levels come, and how they became better and
better…so all in one, a great pack!
My favourite lvl is still “XMasEvening”, its…just cool! “The Waterfall”
rules with instagib, “ScraperCity” rules with much ppl, and its fun to battle
under water, in “Beachparty”.
Though I like small levels, I think that the both small levels are not as
good as the other levels. Hey, this shall not mean that they are bad, they are
both at least good, if not very good lvls, but the other are just better.
But, never mind this, once again: Great Battlepack. Download NOW!
Btw, the readme rules :).
Oh yes: Happy Birthday…but shouldnt you GET presents ;D?

WoW! Really cool! I especially like those houses and ninja rabbits. ;-) There’s also loads of other stuff like rain (let’s hope they work in background layers too), sucker tubes, pools of water, poles, vines, spikes, mountains and other neat Japanese stuff. But, the lvl does have some tiles from official tilesets like Carrotus and HH98 which lowers rating by 0.2.
7.0 and a download recommendation if y0u like Japan. ;-)
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
This lvl isn’t that bad! (Even though I’m giving this an 4.7.)
OK, let’s get started:
Hogland is quite a small battle lvl using the overused Carrotus tileset. It’s got good gameplay and weapons placement and I couldn’t find any bugs. The lvl however, does lack eyecandy and springs and some of the platforms are badly placed making this lvl most Jazz unfriendly. There isn’t anything special with the lvl too making it very boring. If you could just add some fun stuff like MCEs/SCEs, flippers, poles and more eyecandy and fix the Jazz unfriendlyness, my rating could easily be raised to an 6.7
But for now on, this lvl only deserves an 4.7 and no download recommendation either.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
Actually, I don’t like this skin very much. It is a plain black skin with some red an yellow colors. The Big Jazz/Spaz pic looks ugly cos it is deformed. The special cursors were pretty nice, but not nice enuff to make this a good skin. Try to create a goodlooking skin, make it look nicer, use more colors, and keep the cursors.
You did this in PAINT?! Incredible!
No that won’t affect my rating. But it is impressive :)
It has that ol’ “10 Crayon Box” look to it, but nevertheless, in spite of a general lack of detail, the whole set comes together pretty well.
BTW, some more ground texture really would help a lot. Prehapes even if you blended some other shades in with it, kinda to give it a more “dirt” and less “painted brown” look to it.
And the background does need a little work. No, I haven’t a clue how they make those things work, but then help has already been offered to you in this area.
Bottom line?
Solid tileset, shows potential.
~Buster
Well well well, what’s left to be said?
Verily, this is a super-niftular tileset.
Alright, now down to business…
Okay, it has problems. Allow me to introduce you to the standard tilesets…
This is probably the first tileset I’ve ever seen that is on par with the tilesets of JJ2. I can think of several that certainly come very close, but this one takes the cake. It is beautiful.
Okay, there are some visual problems, but again comparing it with the regular JJ2 tilesets, this is nothing we can’t overlook. You want perfection? You won’t find it in any tileset. But some come close, like this one.
As for problems and difficulty making levels with it…
Well, okay. Point taken. I rate a 9.5, not a 10.
Anyone try to make a level with Beach? How about the Lab set? Some of the JJ2 sets are very difficult to use, even frustrating. But somehow, those sets still maintain a following, and we press on.
This set isn’t perfect, but it is worth the trouble.
Well done Agama.
