While the text in this level makes it sound like this is some sort of puzzle level, I was able to bet this without using a single bit of brain power. I have also seen the tileset used better before, and this level didn’t seem to use any eyecandy that the tileset would allow to be created. Sure, there were flashing blocks and stuff, but those are more annoying than anything. I think if the authour was a bit more creative in creating this level, it could actually make something worthy of a rating around 6. Also, I would like to know what the coins were for, because I didn’t really see them be used for any reason besides getting more points in jazz2.
3.7/10 for not being too easy, and at least being functional.
I believe the official name of “Czechia” is The Czech Republic, Aiko :p
Yet again, another amazing tileset from Agama. He already surprised with the Heaven tileset, but this one’s the same quality. Like the author said, it looks like mixed tiles from JJ1. Here’s what i discovered (they only LOOK like JJ1 tiles, mind you):
- glowing walls from Tubelectric
- pipes from Orbitus
- fans from Fanolint
The example level (i wish Agama had shown off each of the three sets ;) ) has great eye candy and music (rocket.xm, see Aiko the music expert’s review), but thats all there is too it. O well, can’t win’em all :)
This is a MUST-download, just like the Heaven tileset :)

ok here goes:
level 1: good points: it was short, yes it was very short..hard because of warps? i reached the boss within 20 secs! bad points: the level was plain ugly – u know why i was happy it was so short.
level 2: medivo1 with a small change. bad very bad.
next level setting was wrong. it had to be a level that isnt included in the pack.
rating: 1.2
1 is the lowest score, so a 1.2 because of the 30 seconds wasted time.
Hey!
How many times you spent the ceating of this level?
20 min?
Wow! Good level with good ending boss!
Beutyfull eyecandy & ideal music!
But too easy (in hard mode), but long!
Too short!
Too many sucker tubes!
One is all I would give this. ??????????????????????????????????????????????
Still What is it for
(Do not rate it if you do not know what it is for. Rating removed. -Trafton)[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]
Mint Agama Your Tileset is cool and so is the level. All I have to say are the best things in the world. :-)
“The Xmas Pack” (promising title, isn’t it?) doesn’t have much to offer except horrible tile- and event placement (i never saw a level where the smoking guy was used so senseless!). Really, there are a whole lot of places in the level that look very unfinished. Anyways, it uses the good JJ1 Holiday Hare “Christmas Pack” tileset edit by Astronia (one of the very few good ideas the author came up with here). For some reason, the second level is like the first one, it only uses a different daytime (brighter colours etc.). Bores me. As JelZe said, a background music is completely missing. The next level setting of the last level is also wrong. I can only fully agree with the advice EvilMike gave in the last lines of his review. Downloading this would be a waste of bandwidth and diskspace.
P.S.: Don’t name your filenames “start.j2l” next time. Causes problems because there are a lot of level that use that name already :-)
Man I love Agama’s stuff.. Mmm. This is really good. You should download this. IMMEDIANTLY !
hint Agama should fit well in the possum team hint[This review has been edited by Newspaz]
Oh wow…the guys are right: another awesome(!!!) tileset creation from my neighbour country Czechia!
“Sirius” (actual name in JCS is “Dimensions”) consists of nearly 700(!) best looking tiles and has all kinds of fancy stuff like animations, vines, poles, a swinging f1 racing finish flag, large golden tubes and so on (too much to list it here). It comes in three different versions using three different shades/palettes…gold, silver and bronze if i’m not completely wrong. The masking is also very good (and it is NOT automasked, JelZe ;-).
Not to forget the stunning single player example level Agama put in the pack: eyecandy fever! Looks real beautiful, if you ask me. For the background, the author chose “Rocket Life”, a classic Fasttracker MOD by Laxity of MoN, a danish elite tracker. The tune fits great.
As you probably noticed, i really REALLY like this tileset pack. It is quite impressing and without any doubt, i RECOMMEND iT AS A MUST DOWNLOAD FOR ALL OF YOU!
But now…go ahead and make some good (battle :-) levels, Jazzers!
And Agama, a gold medal is reserved for you.
“EvilCastle CTF” is a pretty decent level using the Medivo tileset. Really. It’s not spectacular or extremely exciting but as i said, very decent.
But well…first of all, EvilMike forgot to put single player start events, which makes testing and reviewing a pain…i’m tended to lower my rating because of that (j/k! ;-).
Apart from that little flaw, the layout of the level is quite good…like the eyecandy (nothing special though!). Weapon and event placement are okay, too (nevertheless, i don’t like all the destruct scenery too much).
The author obviously tried to make fair routes from base to base (parts of the layout are “mirrored” if you allow me to put it like that) and the music choice is very good (a classic Fasttracker MOD using 10 channels, obviously a tune by a german tracker as i can see from the song title…gotta be quality :-).
Well, to sum it all up: you can’t do anything wrong with downloading this CTF level (esspecially if you’re a fan of this playing mode). Good work, EvilMike.
The name “Sewer Surfing” was taken from a Ninja Turtle SNES game.
wow indeed, mike :) these are 3 very kewl futuristic tilesets, by the same author of the very good heaven (and boy do we love heaven, right?). Although not as big as heaven, and not as much stuff in it, i still love this one very much. actually it doesnt need as much tiles as i think al the kewl stuff is already in it! therefore, i give it a real good 9 for a real good tileset..or 3 tilesets :) download it plz..if u dont, your jazzlife has no sense..:P
Wow! This tileset is great. This sure does look like jazz1, but it is completely origninal instead. Don’t worry about that though, because it is just as high quality as a jazz1 set, if not better. The tileset has all of the essencials, plus a couple of cool features such as an elevator. Almost any type of level can be created with this set, although I think it would be easier to make a multiplayer level with it. As soon as I finish my current level, I am going to try and use this tileset and see if I come up with anything good. Most of the time I don’t even consider using most tilesets, and only download them so I can play levels made with them. This is one exception though, and I congratulate the authour for making a tileset this good. Although I still think the tileset “Heaven” is a bit better, I am awarding this an 8.7, which is a pretty high score for me to give out.
Please continue making tilesets, Agama, because the quality of your work rivals all of todays current expert tileset makers.
I found it quite interesting playing in a level that used a tileset that came from a game with an overhead view. There were also some interesting ideas in this level, such as the key warp thing. Despite(sp?) these qualities the level has, it also has some problems that need to be adressed. I found that the tubes were too slow and made the level boring, and the level was also too short and left wanting a larger challenge. I don’t think this level is good or bad, but simply average.
I completely agree with you, JelZe. From the looks of these levels, they were assembled in haiste, and are generally sloppy. In some parts while walking on the ground, you can see the sky underneath it because it is only one or two tiles thick. Also, half of the levels are catipillars which don’t do any damage and just make the level take longer to beat. I see some ideas in this level that may make a good one in the future, but please take more time while making levels.
Well, I’ve seen a few X-mas packs and believe me, this one’s a huge disappointment
First of all, the levels (3 in total):
The first two are completely the same, only the enemies change. They are too short, too liniar, hardly any eye candy, too many power-ups of the same kind (maybe it’s for Co-op, i dunno). Need i say more? O yeah, one more thing: the music is missing.
Sorry, can’t give you higher than a 4 for this.
