What can I say about this. On the other hand I think: Wow, he used some good new stuff. But I also think the lvls are 2 small and the gameplay is freakin awful.
The background is fresh and new. I don’t agree with BlackDeath: If there’s air included in the tileset, than u don’t have to use that as background. This gives a bushy feelin and very different from other lvls I’ve seen. But to be honest it doesn’t look quite good.
There are no ‘ugly’ parts in the lvl, like a tree placed wrong on the ground.
The gameplay looks weird. 2 much of the same and there’s no real feeling in it. The lvls are way 2 small.
My conclusion is that these 2 lvls are a combination of average eyecandy, bad gameplay, but some original stuff used to make it look different from other Jungle lvls.
runs
Im d ing it now, but what is it? is it a EXE? And how did u do the zombie rabbits?
Well, I’m not going to rate this, because for one thing I’ll take everyone’s word that it’s bad and not lower your score anymore :)
Has anyone considered maybe giving folks a grace-period if their first levels suck? I mean just because they’ll probably get over that by level 3 (if they try) and because otherwise you’re just lower the score for what may end up to be a wonderful creator. Just a thought.
Anyway, Tobi, I’d just like to encourage you as well to keep on trying. It’s very important that you hang in there. First levels are typically poor, so don’t feel bad at all. I can tell you all right now, if I hadn’t recieved extensive help from a couple of people when I was making my first level, it would be butt ugly :p (I know because I remember it before I sought help ;)
Heh, I still make lousey levels NOW :) I’ve got a CTF level here that is solid, complete, made good use of the tileset, is fully functional, and about the suckiest CTF level I’ve ever seen in my life.
Point is Tobi, you’ll probably throw out a few stinkers even when you have a full grasp of JCS, so don’t feel bad about that. The important thing now is to concentrate on simply learning to create levels well in a technical sense. Then worry about how good the levels are design-wise. I’d suggest making a few throw-away levels just to test various JCS elements to get the hang of them.
Anyway, thank’s for your time.
And also, the download wasn’t a total loss…I didn’t have the tileset before and I actually kinda liked the music :)
Keep on JCSing,
~Buster
There’s not much in the tileset, but first tilesets aren’t usually good anyway. So i would give it a 5.
This has been done on J2C. Anyway it’s nice to have it here as well.[This review has been edited by Newspaz]
The idea to this level is ok and all, but it ‘feels’ small and it lacks variation. The only guns and ammo are toaster and bouncer.
The levels are hardly different and the only thing I could find was that one has digonigal islands and the other horizontal and verticle islands.
Im afraid I cannot give this any more than a 6.
The background is bad, wrong tiles are used as paralaxing (written right???) and the level ‘feels’ too small.
Also, the second (ctf) level doesnt much differ from the battle version, exept for two ctf bases of course…
Thats what they all say, and personally I think Stiletto has no right of speech, but thats not the matter here :)
we did make part of it ourself
and the thigs we copied we needed for the level
Just let people test your Beta Version for u. Like Flash, I don’t do beta’s. And Stiletto’s advice is well placed here: Make your own.
Not a good idea to post betas. I like it more if you only post the full version, cos it’s more a surprise then. I’ll review the full version if it’s here.
Hey jour just copying things from The taverne
Cant jou make a own tileset
without copying Things from other tileset
Thank jou ;-)
I love it! Maybe it’s just a bit too long and hard for a race level. This can do as a challenging single player level as well. If you think racing is all about speed, play this level to change your mind!
A levelpack consisting of small lvls. Now what’s good and what isn’t?
The eyecandy looks good at most parts but there are some parts where it looks awful. For instant the third room in the castle level. However I like the background u used in Electric Force.
The levels are very small and don’t play very well. U could have taken more time for that.
The weapon placing is quite messy. Powerups everywhere and at a real short distance from eachother.
My conclusion: the levels look good at most places, but not everywhere. The playability is quite hard cos of the room u have and the placement of things. There are also a lot of dead ends.
5 looks good for this one.
A tip: Take more time to build your lvls. Your style is fine, but next time spend more time. If u make anoher level, I can test it for u before u post…Think about it.
I did it myself. It was his first tileset and I rated Tobi’s thing also with n/a. So I think it’s fair to do the same with Chaos’ thing.
Because webjump stopped their activities jkm.jumpfun.com doesn’t work anymore. Here’s the NEW link to the JKM-clan homepage:

Until now, i had only downloaded levels with a good rating. I wanted to see why people give some levels bad ratings. Well, NOW I KNOW. The eyecandy is bad, i got stuck a lot in the second level, i couldn’t find the exit in that same level, and if you’re gonna put in enemies, you’d better build single player levels.
Ver small and empty lvl. Didn’t use the stuff to decorate the lvl and this tileset is way overused. just 2 standard for such a “bigname”
Another GREAT lvl by Martin. Looks ace, plays ace, what more to say? Just download ALL of his lvls.
The best CTF AND the best lvl using the Haunted tiles. The reason y it’s TSF only is because the tile isn’t available for 1.23.
