The fun factor of this level is questionable, especially after you find out that the best tactic you can use is to pwn the first spawning monkey without entering the boss arena until it drops 10 fast fires and enough carrots to stay alive when you’ll decide to start the fight with the boss itself.
I have decided to download and rate this level, and I must say I was disappointed. The eyecandy seems nice and I haven’t seen any tilebugs, but the other parts of the level aren’t that good. The level itself is too platformy and IMO it has no real flow. There isn’t enough ammo and it seems the gameplay is on powerups, which isn’t really a good thing. I cannot give more than 7.5,sorry.
EDIT: Lowered a rating a bit for some useless stuff. Sorry.
The eyecandy is clean, and sets the mood well, although it’s nothing too original. The gameplay is rather hard (I hate moving platforms) even on easy, so if you’re looking for a challenge, I would recommend downloading it.
lol, the level is too long, so in the preview the bossfight’s place is don’t visible ^^.
Edit: Ok, I will update it. Thanks for the review.
where the hell are nicks on these screenshots? ;p
The level can’t be see as a good first time u see it
but it’s nice and funny
Good job
Try to change the background :o
Test:
Well then, unfortinetly i dont like tests at all, furthemore i’d like it if people would stop creating them, mostly because most of the test are rather bad, and not much eyecandy are used in them so i simply lose my interest. Rarely i see some tests that are actually pretty good. But i just always see the same ordinary lvls with mostly old ideas. I don’t know why players upload such ordinary tests here on j2o but allright, i suppose there might be some few ideas that are actually new.
Tileset:
As for the tileset, have you really made it on your own? or did u just rip the tiles off from “Top Secret” tileset. I say this because almost all the tiles from this tileset are allready in “top secret” there are even tiles in this tileset that have the text “top secret”. And even tough you took few tiles from other tileset, you could have atleast saved their quallity. Most of the tiles in the set are horribly bugged, and some weird unfilled collours pop out betwen the “closed” letters like “a” or “e”. I do like SOMETHING in this set tough. Even tough it was probably just an accident, the way the lasers are bugged actually looks pretty good, better then in original “top secret”. But i’d still rather use original “top secret” over this rather flawed tileset.
Rating:
I’l go along with SE, and leave it N/A. I mean what exactly is to be rated here. A test that as ideas that have alrdy been seen like a thousand times? Not to mention there are a lot of bugs in the test that SE allready mentioned. Or the tileset, form which the tiles were ripped of of another tileset and rather badly ripped off.
So huge grass plains. It’s really neat, but next time make better level structure & include tileset!
Why 8.5 ? Actually it gave me much inspiration! Thx!
EDIT: I’ve made also some screenshots for you. Satisfied ?
Konečně něco nového!
[English only ~cooba]
@Anubis: you can use some Latin lookalikes
Last time I tried it didn’t work well, since I couldn’t fit the text in the fields, but that was because I was trying to edit the language file directly. And I guess the program allows you to change string sizes.
Of course, this solution isn’t very good, so there are two alternatives – either to transliterate (which I’m not fond of at all) or alter the animations file to feature Cyrillic letters. If we replace some of the other, non-English, characters with Cyrillic, we’ll even be able to write in Bulgarian. By sending chat via SaLLoG (hopefully I got the capitalization all right), you can check which letter is which. However, sending those through the game’s chat would require additional tweaking.
It’s uncertain if there’s much use of any replacement though – since most servers run with Plus, large portion of the messages would remain in English, as long as you don’t translate plus.dll’s text as well and host a Bulgarian-only server.
hmm , this level is nice , and the tileset is nice too…but u can remake this level as ctf…
@aritra1115
that’s why i hate j2o scene, too young people, too crappy english.
About this pack:
Gonna write what was already written, too small >.<
Otherwise very good.
You don’t need to write “Meow” everywhere…
In all your levels / topics so wtf.
How could this crappyland ever get 10/10 ?
If you know me, you probably also know that for God’s sake I shouldn’t review tests, as my rating at those is highly based on the difficulty, and I need a really insane difficulty to like a test. As for this one, its difficulty isn’t high enough for me, however I was surprised by it anyway. Due to the look of the level I was expecting an obstacle race, and yet I got an actual test, however using some cheap tricks.
Anyway, not going to review, instead I’ll point out things that are imo bugs of this level:
-Lori can immediately get from level 1 to 3 via wallkick.
-The wall jump test (level 8) doesn’t actually require a wall jump. It can be easily passed with a golden jump.
-I beat levels 3, 8, 10 and 15 with Jazz, levels 4 and 14 are very probably beatable with him too.
-I beat levels 5, 7, 8 and 15 with Lori, levels 3, 4, 10 and 14 are probably beatable with her too.
That’d be everything. By the way you can also add me to the HoF, however I don’t really care that much.
cant you do something to fix the false positive detection?
im scared when virus detects does avg show it up too?
A great pack with some nice ideas. You have to download this.
Nice counter strike styled gamemode :) (If you don’t know about what I’m talking..sorry :) )
FS should definitely keep making levels (especially ctf), because all his levels are of high quality.
This level is pretty open and the layout is generally quite generic, but it has some neat elements to it, that — along with the placement — make it quite interesting and fun to play.
The size / layout-style make this good for 6 players and up.
