Do you have any level making
tips/strategies?
Thanks!
gasp he remembered! or was that icq?.. :P anyways, tyvm.. nice thought… :) just a little confusing, the level itself.. but hey.. :)
First off all, the “infinite fall” is a very, VERY bad idea. NEVER put something like that in a level again.
Apart from that major bug, there are some minor tile placement errors (e.g. if you make a sucker tube, use a foreground layer for the tiles AROUND the tube, too!). The authors attempts to put some eyecandy are okay (not bad actually) but the design is very confusing. No fluent battling possible. The level uses the famous “7th Lava Fall” set (which IS NOT iNCLUDED!) and very techno like background music (dubu99.xm).
Overall, i can’t give a download recommendation. Sorry, only four points from me here.
All I can say is WOW! First of all these tilesets are right up there with MEZ. There is incredible detail in them, and it appears that a good deal of effort was put into making them.
Next, this pack is overwhelming with 12 LEVELS! All of them unique and detailed. Tons of eye-candy, great level maps. All great.
However, the levels are a little too large for split-screen play. I recomend to play on the net. Oh and there is a little problem in the music looping, but I’m not sure if that’s your fault.
Anyway, if you don’t have this, download it! Let Blade’s Battle Pack be an example to us all!

Whoa, now that I look at it, I have my average amount of typos there. It’s Commander Dats :)
Oh, just another message for the birthday boy :)
Ryan just phoned me, and he says to tell you happy birthday and such (his nt is down so he couldn’t email you). You also wanted to know about staying at his house for a while. Well, it’s fine :) His parents said for about 4 days max or something. Anyways, enjoy the day :)
Okay, okay: maybe the creator of this level tried his best. Unfortunately, it didn’t succeed. Unfinished tile placement all around (use layers!), useless powerups and too easy but pretty confusing "challenges". Besides, MEZ01 is easy too use and the music is cheap. Not worth the download, diskspace and webspace in MY opinion.
Would be cool, if you, KJAZZ, could spend more time on your levels (believe me, even one single level needs hours and hours) and if you made A REAL GOOD ONE, post it here. Thank you!
I looooove this tileset it is so cool!
Nuff said.
I warned cmdr dats. :P
FoD: Yes, it was. But cmdr dats accidently posted it on j2o, and it had 6 downloads, so he remade his level.
D’uh, i already wrote a review for this level but obviously Fquist deleted it without a warning :-)
However, it’s still a great level (bit improved maybe, i didn’t found out) that has a very good, open layout and quite a bit of what we call eyecandy. It also uses one of my Top 5 favourite tilesets and therefore produces a great “winter atmosphere”. Conlusion: If i was you, i would really DOWNLOAD THIS right now! After that, i’d host a battle server (hint).
Indeed, only “true fans” of the TV series will like this. The “Springfield” level uses a custom tileset called “Carnival 2” (which isn’t very good IMO) and has a hotel like layout (many warps and stuff). Again, there is both, bad tile and event placement throughout the level.
Besides, i’m neither fan of the Simpsons nor of hotel levels. So it’s only three points here and i can NOT give a download recommendation here.
P.S.:
The background music is not included but i had it anyways and its just a bunch of Simpsons samples (no melody).
Wow.. Not enough eye candy. Fine design.
This level is really cool! I like the
tileset, eyecandy, and the storyline. (Its not confusing at all)
Its a little short, but still good.
Keep up the good work!
I wanted to add that, because of file
size, i could not include the music.
Also that the “true fans” refers to the simpsons.
On a last note, this level was made
a while ago, and so I haven’t added
the new techniques I learned.
So why did you post it then at all? Waste of webspace!
The author is right, his level is not really a Top 10 level. It uses a rather interesting Yoshi (Japanese console hero as far as i know) tileset but the tile & event/enemy placement is wrong or bad in most areas. Also, it’s way too short and easy for a single player level, sorry.
However, the author should really go on making levels and if he thinks they are good, he should post them here.
“Castle Drakemoore” is a very basic battle level that has some nice platforms and the famous module from FC’s “Panic” playing in the background.
But i don’t like custom music for levels that use Epic tilesets, sorry. It doesn’t fit very good here anyways.
The level design and the eyecandy are both kinda boring. It’s still six points because this map allows fluent gameplay. I recommend you to download this only if you like pure hardcore battles.
Y’all found all the secrets.. in 3 minutes? :)
I thought it was pretty good. As Aiko said, good eyecandy, I didn’t get stuck, but I could see how it could happen. I also liked the part where you could choose if you wanted seekers or not. I never found a dead end, and it has everything I think that a battle level shood need =)
Very decent level.
Very open and simple, not too many eyecandy and weapons, yet fun to play..
low seven points because i’m in a good mood _
i forgot to mention the custom music, but i was having troubles with my sound so i wasn’t able to hear them :-)
