Okey, here’s your review.
Let’s start out with a Story.
This level doesn’t have a story.
0/0
Music:
Easy points as always.
10/10
Eyecandy:
The eyecandy is pretty well. However, several tilebugs here and there with Layer 3, and also some tilebugs with collapsing scenery there.
Sometimes it felt bland and the lava near Devan Shell was painfully executed.
4,75/10
Gameplay:
Very hard parts scattered around, with those falling rocks but also with the lava below. Text signs to warn for collapsing scenery would be nice anyway.
Nothing special, alltough this level isn’t easy! Some parts, however, were annoying because of wrong use of the
tileset.
And too many checkpoints.
And at last, some spikebolls were nearly impossible to pass without getting hurt.
6,75/10
Enemies:
Somewhere, there was an huge cluster of enemies which I just blew up with TNT.
However, don’t place enemies too close to checkpoints. Those can be practically invulnerable.
Most other enemies were well placed anyway.
The Boss was hard but not unbeatable.
7/10
Pickups: Just enough of ammo and coins, and I ran around with 1 health often. The area arount the last checkpoint was too cramped. The pickups where just slammed in there but in fact there wasn’t enough space to contain them, which resulted in several unusual gameplay-bugs. Don’t stack all those events THAT close to eachother!
Too few secrets, especially because most secrets where actually visible due to horrible Layer 3 usage.
6/10
Replay value:
Horrible. Lack of secrets and lack of a story hurts, and tilebugs aren’t really helping either. And orginality is very important, and this level clearly lacks orginality.
1/10
35,5/60 -> 5,9/10
Penalties:
Avoidable tilebugs: -0,5
5,4/10
DR: Mwuah, so-so. You’ll likely to play this level only once and after you’ve done it, you’re going to delete it.
This level has some good parts, but none of them are really orginal.
Micky, I surely can see how you are pressing “Alt+S” on this screen.
That’s nice idea anyway. It could be better to make it working with mouse, but we can’t have got everything. I didn’t find any bugs or something like that, maybe that’s because I just checked is it really working, and yeah, it is. That’s a nice option to add into new jj2+ version is there going to be some…
Good work!
My favourite small level of all times with a most hartwarming tune to boot!
One problem: take off the level’s password, it is annoying and pointless.
[Edit] Review will come later. For now, I will keep my rating at N/A.
I’m not even going to say anything about the “HsC tileset001”. It’s just so…horrible. Okay I lied I wasn’t going to say anything, but seriously, it has no theme whatsoever, just random clips/sprites/whatever from random franchises. What the hell did you do to Weegee with adding Animu eyes? I really hope this tileset is a joke. There’s also such a huge amount of colour loss that my eyes bleed looking at it. If you’re going to make a tileset…at least actually fix the colours and have a proper theme. And perhaps look at tileset tutorials.
The two others…the first version of “lands chaos” is extremely limited boring plain MS paint junk, but don’t get me wrong I’ve seen some great tilesets made with MSpaint out there.
The second version of “lands chaos”…is a little better, but still extremely limited in terms of making a layout and not really much of an interesting theme going on. And how is it “chaos” exactly? Looks like some kind of rather plain park/countryside to me. Of course making tilesets aren’t easy…but that doesn’t stop some from being crap though.
Yeah I can’t be bothered rating the levels…sorry if I sounded nasty…but this is my honest thoughts. If you think your tileset(s) is/are really bad yourself, it’s better to get others to test and tell what they think of it and be open for suggestions. No one will want to use badly done tilesets, to be honest.
It’s a useful tool i suppose, but the game lags a lot when u use it, and like sean said the alt + S hotkeys for turning this program on is really annoying, as i pressed “alt + s” atleast 30 times trying to move the camera down…But i actually just turned it off… other than that it hasn’t really got any other flaws. It’s good to use this program to overview the lvl easier while in the game. I kinda prefer normal spectating tough (cuz im too lazy to move the screen on my own, and i let the players do it for me ^^).
DL recommendation?
Yeah. It’s an interesting tool to use.
Micky: i had a similar problem, when i turned the camera on, not only did it not wanna turn off, but the camera didnt want to move at all, not to mention that some weird signs appeared, then i transfered my camera file in my jj2 folder and all works fine now, prehaps u should try the same.
oh and you will have blickin eyes ;D
well, EC doesen’t seem so bad, but gameplay… there isn’t any, maybe (MAYBE) it would work for quick duels, but i suggest u make the lvl a bit bigger and add some music…
How could you asses a level with no music, no many game play possibilities and only 4 layers in use with 10? The funny thing is that you can’t even rate this level because of its size.
Even if you told me not to rate with 9 or 10, I couldn’t help myself. It’s a good map :P

Cool classes , eyecandy looks kinda good , but too big pits.. :P anyway good job I’ll rate it 7.7
First of all good job on posting your 1st battle level done by yourself. Now I’ll tell what i think.
Gameplay : Very fun to play , all these pu’s give it more of gameplay but RF isn’t very good for a small level , however It’s Pretty good , and ammo placement rocks. Eyecandy : Well looks very interesting , I especially love the bridge down :) , I think you put a bit too much ec , but still it’s good. Music : Music fits very well. So this is all I have to say , and all together fits well so I’m gonna give you 8.2 for doing a very good job.@KIMO :
I don’t really agree that it’s not interesting , actually it’s very original and gameplay is good so no offence but your comment doesn’t make any sense.Next time, please do not upload tilesets that are not used in your level.
