Snz continues to roll with another top-notch asymmetric CTF level.
The amount of eye-candy couldn’t possibly be any better.
The level looks great, but not confusing in the least. The theme is great, but that’s a question of taste.
Everything is also well placed (i.e. some ammo is placed in strategic locations).
Definitely try this one out.

FS has done it again.
Another spectacular CTF level with awesome gameplay, an enjoyable and well constructed layout and nice eye-candy that supports the theme.
The ice-shortcut adds a nice strategy-element to navigating the level and even further improves the gameplay.
I’d say this is a top-10 level since 2006, but that’s just me.
Try it out.

[Rating (5.5) clearance. I am completely unable to understand this. You copied a level, uploaded the copy, and then rate the original a 5.5? wtf? – cooba]

Im sorry, but theres absolutely no way this upload should be rated as 10.. the Industrius level is okay, but the stonar level is just plain horrible. also, i think its really worthy mentioning that cooldude probably never downloaded this, considering that nothing here will remind you of b1.

STONAR LEVEL:

EYECANDY/THEME:
From what I can tell, theres a translucent background tile on foreground layers, which looks quite out of place and confusing. it also moves annoyingly fast when you run, which doesnt help. rest of the level is pretty basic, and quite boring. however, atleast theres some versality in the sprite layers. I think there was some eyecandy bugs, altough im not sure since the confusing layer 1/2 makes it hard for me to look for them. thats all..

GAMEPLAY/LAYOUT/FLOW/PLACEMENT:
I dont like the layout at all. It seems very random and confusing and quite messed up in general. it basically consists of randomly placed corridors and platforms, and is also hard to learn. flow is bad, i get bumped into walls, ceiling, and whatever and the spring placement doesnt exactly help it either. Placement seems to be quite sparse, theres not much ammo, but atleast its placed so that its easy to get while running around and stuff. I didnt find any carrots in the level because of annoying layer 1/2 so i wont comment on that..

CONCLUSION:
Could be a good level but its destroyed with the random platforms and the red foreground..

INDUSTRIUS LEVEL:

EYECANDY/THEME:
Well, this is probably suposed to be a city. It doesnt even look that bad, but its still looks quite unrealistic in places (especially the background, which looks really, really weird)
also, the level is quite bland, and not all layers have been used. the rain could be done much better aswell.
What I dislike aswell that you have used a layer 4 tile on layer 3 multiple times, creating even more confusion.
There are also some layering/tilebugs, like rabbit’s feet showing under layer 3 and etc.

GAMEPLAY/LAYOUT/FLOW/PLACEMENT/ETC:

The layout of this level is quite bad, since it seems to be a straight line from side to side. Im not sure why there are trigger blocks at seek up so you can get trapped since its a bad idea. Flow is ok, could be much better, and i found myself crashing into things quite often. placement here is better then in the last level, now that I can actually see things. ammo shapes are bit odd in places, but its still ok.

CONCLUSION:
From these 2 levels, this one is the better one. Still could use lot of improvements though..
Also, I didnt review this to be mean. I reviewed this because I thought its stupid how cooldude just wrote a review without even downloading these levels. heh..

cooldude: stop giving 10s to everyone. That’s annoying and ruins the download section. What if the file isn’t good enough for all others except you? Some people can be confused with it and how come almost every file you rate gets a 10?

I played this map many times and I think the gameplay is fine. I don’t like the 2 +1 carrots because there is one Full NRG. Area with pits is original, but I think it’s easier to play this level with Spaz so it’s easier to avoid falling in when using Spaz. Anyway, this will get 7.8 from me and a download recommendation.

It’s been nearly a year since FireSworD uploaded a new level to J2O – time sure flies fast huh? While last year we were graced with Enter the Chaos (quite a controversial level, but still an instant classic), today we turn 180 from mayhem and turmoil.

Golem Landscapes brings us to a highly abstract battlefield. As FS himself explained, this level takes action on a stone golem, which is a shockingly good idea, especially with the given tileset (a recolor of Carrotus). The theme is realised very well – taking the obvious aside, you can notice that all the walls (including the ones in the background) form a logical, solid mass of rock – like a giant monolith. It’s also a very stoic and tranquil landscape – dim lighting, leaves slowly falling to the ground, and the relaxing background track, with a beat that’s vaguely like a heartbeat – perhaps to imply that the golem is asleep?

The gameplay is far from tranquil, however, as this level sports four different kinds of powerups, lots of dodge space, fast movement, and shortcuts. This layout will remind you a lot of the classic OLC CTF levels – it’s highly interconnected and very spacious. With fast routes, two +1 carrots and one full, and no place to hide, this becomes an ideal level for 2on2 matches. You can get from base to base fairly easily with the aid of warps, but you’re not going to last like that too long, as most key items are out of the simplest route. There’s a ton of situational tactics (that I’ll leave you to discover and abuse…), so every game here ought to be interesting.

This is one of FS’ best releases up to date, so go download, play it a lot, and get inspired!

I had some games here and it was really fun. Its bit too easy level for dueling though, if you kill your opponent, you have basically won already. however with 4 players or more the level is great. also the idea of making a golem with this kind of tileset is very original. gj!

Its an okay level, altough I personally think that the green stuff in the bg clash with the mountains quite heavily.. also, you could have used other colored stuff instead of the plain yellow. I also thought the layout was bit lazy. However, theres not much tilebugs and what there is looks mostly okay and doesnt hurt my eyes atleast. Gameplay is kinda average, I didnt like how i sometimes bump into edges and springs and whatever.
other than that however, the level seems to play ok. Placement is quite bad, there is enough ammo but its placed in really weird shapes which sometimes makes it hard to get.

however this seems to be quite fun level despite some annoynces there is. host this on your free time, i guess..

The cooldude did it again :P

Ahem. I was testing this!

Gameplay is actually quite good, but there are some great campspots, like the warp target over the other base.
Eyecandy goes well with everything. I didn’t see any tilebugs.
You should’ve added a stomp scen in the lake :P
The pickups go extremely balanced, but that +1c is closer to the red base. You maybe should make it closer to blue.
The theming is great with the frozen(?) castle and all in the backround.

Overall, I still for some reason didn’ t like your level. But because you did succeed in other things, I’ll give you an 9 with an Download Recommendation.
