Prupel jaz sez:
LEVEL IS GUD AND STRONG
Ok, so I helped create this, and I guess I can’t rate it. But I would like to leave a comment.
To be entirely honest, when I first learned what sonicnathan was trying to do, I had no idea why. I never thought of Colonius as a particularly broken set. I rarely used it, but didn’t notice mask problems or anything that seemed to be in need of a change. The levels I had played with it seemed perfectly good.
However, as I started to make the mask, and really had to pay attention to the details, I understood the fix. I found a couple of random problems in masks, such as inconsistencies in the benches, and a section of the background that was auto-masked (I’m not sure why it was masked at all). Also, when I would look for a specific tile so I could find exactly what the mask was supposed to be like, they were in really random places. The fixed tileset would be way easier to find tiles in and build levels from.
Therefore, I’d definitely recommend a download if I was allowed to.
PS, I don’t think I deserve too much credit for this. Sonicnathan was the genius behind the ideas, and all I did was some copy/pasting for the tileset.
Agree with SJ, the level looks very surreal in an interesting way. This is quite a typical snz level in terms of looks, but the layout is quite different to his usual style. It provides more tactical gameplay with the structure and placement, which makes it more enjoyable to play than some of his other levels.
the level was kinda easy for me…
I like it to be harder than this,
There were too many 3Ways that i did not used and tht part with the crate maze was boring because i was searching and searching for the way to those crates and few times i got stuck(without jjk) but, instead of that i used jjfly and jjnowall to get to some crates because i’ve got bored.
The gameplay was nasty there were too many goodies and a small number of enemies(i lost 2 lives in the level)
But there were some good things about it like the background use the layer use and the schwartzenguard boss and I found an uterus boss as well which you do not usualy find in diamondus
So … I’m sorry but 5.5
Tip:Try putting more flying enemies better with less goodies(but not much)and more enemies to make it harder.
and something that hurts if you fall into it(sort of)no matter how long it takes to finish the level
Pretty good. Pretty damn good!
gj, it actually feels like a real volcano
This is a level by Snooze in the colon set. The eyecandy is rather twisted, and has some tilebugs, but otherwise is pretty good. After some playing the layout reminds me about Villain Village by cooba, it is kinda similar to that one, just in a smaller scale. However, PowerUps and carrots offer some tactical gameplay here. Download and try it.
A part of this I saw before I gues but the most of it was new and looking very coowl!! Almost everything did work flawless except the lizards.
Almost compleetly agree with Plunk about the Wow! part :D
Firstly, please sort out and translate all of your text from Spanish (as far as I’m concerned) to English, as most of us here speak English. I didn’t understand the texts in the level at all. As for the levels themselves, well, we’ll just have to see…
EYECANDY:
I wasn’t completely shocked by the eyecandy. 60% or so of it was fixed, but the other 40% was quite bad. The background layers weren’t fixed in level 1, there were areas in the levels where foreground tiles were missing completely where they were needed (the hat for example) and there was nothing to back up the floor tiles below, so you could see beyond the bottoms of floor tiles. Some of the animated tiles also didn’t fit with each other (the cat for example). Also, there were some random tile placements. Why on earth are there some blocks floating at the beginning of the first level and they don’t even do anything?
However, there is a good variety of layers used.
GAMEPLAY:
Both levels seem to have the same style. Both of them are completely linear to the end, both of them have no puzzles whatsoever and both of them consist mainly of just killings some enemies and getting past some insanely long catterpillars and some spikes. There were almost no items. There was also a failed attempt to place destruct blocks in the second level, and they didn’t show up because destructive blocks require animated tiles. It also helps to put a story in your level packs.
FINAL RATING: 1.4
DOWNLOAD?: Unfortunately, most of the 0.4 you scored comes from the half fixed-eyecandy. To improve the score, try increasing the amount of gameplay and content in your levels and spend more time on them.
BTW, I found SPAZ18’s quick review helpful.
I liked it very much and it’s worth downloading and using for levels
[When I say Quick Review, I mean QUICK REVIEW. Review changed for the third time, edit again, you get a warning ~cooba]
I liked it but… Ischa, If you get stuck there are more than 1 way to get out(other than jjk)
If you get stuck try using jjfly and jjnowall

Coincidence?
Anyway, the level is extremely linear and eyecandy is very bad with tilebugs everywhere. I couldn’t understand what the textstrings said and they were too high up on the screen. Use the “@” to move the text down.
Most of the Layers were used but you didn’t use Layer 3 to cover up the hats.
If you’re downloading this, you’re probably just doing it to get Condemned and City of the Sn00ze, which are pretty much the best levels this pack has to offer. Systematic Crash is also a very solid level (partly for being one of few DOM levels so far) and I have to admit I have a soft spot for Ancient Abyss and Secret Forest Shrine simply for their awesome and rather unique visual style… but apart from that, I’m sorry to say this pack isn’t really all that special. Most of the levels have either very generic design or have some original ideas which sadly weren’t implemented very well. It’s a shame, as I was kind of expecting more out of this.
I was close to giving this an 8.0 for all the sheer effort that obviously went into it despite everything, but in the end it just didn’t sit right with me so, while feeling a bit mean doing this, I’m leaving it at a 7.5 right now. I might change my mind and up the rating later tho’ as a lot of effort obviously went into this.
In closing, take my comments with a grain of salt, as while overall nothing too much out of the ordinary, this pack is by no means bad and certainly warrants a download recommendation. It doesn’t deserve all the 9+ marks it got but I’ll be the first to admit I’m pretty critical in rating stuff so if it’d been anyone else this would’ve probably been an 8 at least. Even if you’re mostly getting it for the levels I mentioned above the other stuff in there is generally solid level design if nothing else and is sure to keep you entertained for a while. ;)
definitely the coolest thing on J2O
Wow….. Thats just about all i can say
Although this is not an actual map or anything, it is probably the most impressive thing i have ever seen done in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 using JCS
basically it starts, and your character navigates and does amazing manouvers, and solves some very challenging looking puzzles and tasks, and eventually after several things he defeats the queen, and even does a cleverly thought out boss battle against the robot boss.
GET THIS :
At one portion of this there is a cluster of flying lizards, he even has it timed so the stand still shooting up thing happens when they get above you and explode.
I 100% reccommend this and it deserves an extremely high rating due to its cleverness, and just pure amazement while watching.
So there are two very conflicting ratings on this tileset. To clear things up, it is unfortunately awful, and SPAZ18’s review is much more accurate.
Eyecandy: 3/10
There are a couple nice, 3d looking tiles, and you can make a fairly neat looking disintigrating tile animation. However, the rest of the tileset is pretty bland, or even ugly. Most of the ground is simple, cartoonish, and don’t mesh at all with each other. The background doesn’t work for textured, and doesn’t even look like it tiles 100% right. Many tiles were very poorly created. There are a flower and vine, which look very two dimensional. The only other real eyecandy is a bunch of Spaz’s with people’s names over them. However, they can only really be used for inside jokes, and will be entirely useless to the vast majority of people. And there is no eyecandy at all for foreground and background.
Usability: 2/10
This tileset is very hard to use. It has a bunch of letters and symbols(too many probably), vines, and a couple destruct tiles. However, the tileset is mainly hard to use because its lack of basic tiles. Even on the example level, bland orange slant tiles are placed next to the 3d tiles, looking very ugly, because they clash. The mask is also imperfect, with a few pixles of one of the charaters masked. Unfortunately, I can not imagine this tileset being widely used.
Originality: 1/5
I’m thinking of a tileset with solid colored walls. And some letters. This tileset does nothing new.
Bonus: Includes an example level: +1
Total: 7/25=28%=2.8/10
Sorry, no download recommendation.
..Need I say more?
I will play it with a detailed review
Edit1: This level’s name is “Ep.1 The war begins” by sonicnathan 1.
This level is well tructured and it’s worth playing.
Lvl 1: intro
Lvl 2: This level is very good. Firstly i did not figured out how the get out but the level was ok. I also got killed once which proves that the enemy placement is good, nice eyecandy, nice music but there weren’t too many goodies like carrots 9/10
Lvl 3: the first part was complicated and once i got stuck and couldn’t get out but the rest was good and you’ve put the queen at end which is also good (not to many goodies).8/10
Lvl 4: the level was good but quite buggy. There are things form layer 4 mixed with layer 3(the caves)which didn’t came out right. 8/10
Lvl 5: This lvl was kinda big and almost half of it is just covered space but i have to admit: I almost got lost in there. But there is still a problem: too buggy! I got stuck again. 6/10
Lvl 6: This one and Lvl 7 were very complex, but you could just use Hurt modifiers those rays not bees, but they hurt too. 8/10
Lvl 8: was nice too and you’ve put the schwarzenguard as an end for the level pack.9/10
Fine music, good score 10/10
Downlaod recommendation: yes
(must have it)
rating:57/70=8.1
First of all this dosent look like a single-player level at all… Where are the enemies? What happend with them?
It has no music file and the level is too short
And the “type jjk if you fall” text is a very nasty thing because you knew that it’s a major possibility to fall and you did not do anything about it.
I accidentally fell and when i got at the bottom of the level it did not hurt, anything. But I didn’t jjk.
If you wanna make a good s-player level you have to make it nice no matter how long it takes.
okey-dokey so I will add mor objects when I’m going to make levels like these. :)
No more empty space. (I’ll try it.)
THX. for your comments.
but is the music won’t work, why this is working?
it woked for me
