Im from Holland, and i see you are too.
First of all, you dont have to include your name in every line of text where you can write…
There was some humor in the levels though.
There was NO eyecandy at all, that sucks. Make some eyecandy next time.
Oh and, please do not use shitloads of enemys next time…
Doei! Hammer xD
[Please don’t self-filter. ~cooba]
It was short and had almost no eyecandy.
But the gameplay was really good and the enemies were placed at the good spots.
Altough there was no ammo in the level, i liked playing this short thing.
A four, not higher.
The eyecandy was ok, but the gameplay really sucked.
The placement of items was also really, really bad.
it’s not so bad

? This is an, errm, okay level. Trog’s Deck the Halls level has some…interesting eyecandy, although the set is really just a ripoff of the Xmas and Castle tilesets. Style was allright, but the level was not the best i’ve ever seen.
Repairs/improvements? Maybe a different tileset. I know, the level is based around this one, but the red+green christmas poles? In a castle set?
So, music and buggage were okay, versions were allright, I will give you a neutral dl rec, and a semi-okay rating. But a different tileset would really make your level rock it off!
Good try. :)
Well well, this is review #100, and what a download to review!
Lava Reef is a fun level, utilizing the Chrysilis V3 tileset in some new and creative ways. The different colored layers in the bg are nice, the music fits the level perfectly. What a cool thing!
No real bugs, nice. The level did get kind of boring after a while, and did seem kind of pitifully sized. Eyecandy was just fine.
So, if you wanna go fix it up, I would recommend you go and increase size just a wee bit…It’ll add some great new appeal. Maybe a little break here in there with monotony and all. You level has greeeat potential. DL rec.
Hmm….
This level was fine. Not perfect, just fine.
White Xmas by Neo—> is a level using a conversion of the HH98 tileset, with a fairly solid structure, some nice “boosts” with springs and sucker tubes, and a warp from one side of the level to the other.
WX was quite small with few weapons, and the amount of “whiteness” in the level sadly drove me a bit nuts. The music was okay, but the eyecandy amounts were also small. There’s definitely room for improvement here.
Not that it’s a complete disaster. The concept is nice, being in the midst of a storm [is that right?]. The tileset is nice, and bugs are virtually nonexistant. There is a version with pits and one without. I liked it, but felt it needed a lot of help.
Not to fear, there’s still hope yet! Get some different colors in your level [I recommend a bluish tone to your level, as well as some more eyecandy in the bg layers that’s more pretty than another floor layer], maybe some more trees and houses, add more ammo and increase size a bit, and enjoy it!
Neutral dl rec, but a thought is to be given: Good work, fix it up, and come back for more! I’ll be waiting. =)
The level screenshot is pretty misleading since when seeing it you might conclude that this level is symmetrical. But it isn’t! Which is good since symmetrical levels are only half as cool (hehe) as those that aren’t.
Anyway, this is a nice level. Nothing special really, but overall it plays nicely (save for a few hijinks here and there). There’s a balancing issue where it is really easy to get from blue to red (take the path at the top of the level and drop down straight onto the base at the right) but less easy and certainly more time-consuming to go the other way around. This of course makes things unfair. Likewise the placement of the seeker/bouncer powerup relative to both bases might be a bit biased towards blue but it’s a small difference only and won’t be much of a problem in casual play.
Apart from that I was bugged by the blue spring at (30,20) which breaks the flow when running up or down that slope. I’d have placed the spring somewhere else so that it doesn’t obstruct the path. I wasn’t quite sure about the water either as it slows you down a lot but it’s only a small part of the level so it’s not much of a problem and can be covered with 2 or 3 jumps. There’s also a warp in the bottom right corner which I think is a very poor way to cover up a dead end.
Eyecandy is pretty scarce, there’s no glaring tilebugs or anything but that’s about it. The background looks nice, but you’ve got to give the tileset palette credit for that, not the level author. There’s a few waterfalls there, which go together nicely with the bit of water at the bottom and the rain, but all in all it’s nothing spectacular and could certainly use some more spicing up. Again, it isn’t exactly bad and there’s a thing to say for minimalism, but I expected a bit more.
Download this? I don’t know, if you like CTF then it really can’t hurt and for public servers this might be fun to play a few times, though there are a lot more spectacular levels out there. For more serious matches however I think it’s not well-balanced enough.
The plot is… well, cheesy in places, but very origional. It was enough to keep me playing til the end.
Sticking to origionality though brings with it shortfalls. There is only one enemy type, and absolutly no pickups, which the author explains that stuff that jazz could use would be nonexistant in the internet. This is acceptible in a sence, as it does increase the difficulty, but at the same time, saying carrots were “Restoring programs” would have been as simple as passing sparks off as “Antivirus programs”
The main tileset used was simplistic, flat, yet perfect for the world that Troglobite is creating. The eyecandy is simple, but the whole area is covered in animations, which makes up for it.
The area where it does fall short, is in the music. only 2 music files are used, and one was used for all but one level. By the time you are finished the final level, you are pretty sick of the same music file.
Overall, It needs tweaking, but that does not stop it from being a good play. I would recommend it.
Good job with these levels, especially with the ec :)
This man thinks outside the box.
This is a great pack. Like EM said, it had plenty of things I have never seen before, like the new boss, the internet play [to clear this up, you aren’t actually on the Internet, just in the story.] Small assortment of baddies, even smaller amounts of goodies, and many annoying tile enemies make this pack average in likeability. The boss is extremely creative.
The whole concept is good. To sum up, I will give a 4.8, but a dl rec, because EM is right: Bad level, extremely good concept+attempt.
Well, I guess it’s about time this upload got a review…
Intro
Sven’s battle Pack [which should really be renamed to “Forest Pack”] is a 3-level battle pack with some likeable features and some dislikeable ones. The Forest day, Diamondus 2 and Easter tilesets are used.
Setting/quality
The setting is, as I explained above, in a forest. The theme is pretty nice. The quality is pretty nice. It’s far from perfect, but is waay different than the last thing [not by MS] I just reviewed. Some nice eyecandy is used [the mountains being used as up-close eyecandy in the Forest level][The occasional random platform in the Diamondus level][Occasional trees scattered throughout the Easter level—the one level that didn’t hardly seem like a forest. At all…]. Cool music is also used. I didn’t really like the sparse amounts of eyecandy used in the levels, but many levels have this affliction. The pack was relatively bug-free, which was great. The compatability was OK.
The overall pack atmosphere was nice. But I didn’t like really much how the weapons seemed randomnly thrown hastily about in the levels, which were a lot of wide-open spaces. The abundant amounts of powerups can be nice and annoying. Plenty of cool shortcuts through walls exist.
Overall, I would rate this pack with a 7.2, and a DL recommendation. It’s a nice number. But, don’t forget to fix that stuff up. I’ll be waiting for your next level!
Meh, not too much to say here…
Intro
The level was a good try. Unfortunately, it does not quite make the cut in my opinion. The tileset was fine [MEZ02], music okay, but it needed something.
Setting/quality
There’s not much to this level. Artem’s co-op level is designed for two people to play. However, it is insanely easy to find the exit. Seriously, I skipped most of the level because the exit was soo easy to find. The event placement was fine, as was the rest of the structure.
Eye candy was okay, could use some work here. The level did not have much visual appeal, if you want some lessons on how to really use eyecandy, go play Evilmike’s episodes. Or go play any one of the big names in levelpacks, which generally use eyecandy pretty well.
Buggyness/likeability
Except for that one spot, not really buggy. I do think it has a lot to improve on in the likeability department. It’s simple, but is playable. That’s what counts. Works smoothly, could be fairly fun with some improvement.
To end off, I will give a neutral dl rec, as it seems to still need a lot of work. But nice effort, you get an A+ for that! [something my grades could use =(…]
5.6
Very good lvl’s ;D
The best lvl in this pack i consider is Castel of Mysteries.
Mostly i like the eyecandy from this lvl’s.
[Review changed to quick review. – cooba]
…I have chosen to rewrite this review….
Intro
Master Sven’s battle level is okay. I did not think it was too terribly stellar, but this is understandably caused by the tileset.
Setting/quality
Winter Fallz is a wintery battle level, with a few waterfalls, some trees, snowmen, christmas lights and more. The level is admittedly small, but could be fun as a short 2-minute battle. I am happy to report the apparent absence of any huge bugs, plus the nice music. However, I do take a few issues…
The aforementioned issues
The trees I referenced are quite low-quality. The snow and ground lack any endearing beauty. The snowman is a nice breakup in the level. The level is, simply put, small. Instead of cramming tons of useless weapons into it, MS put a couple PU’s and some clusters of ammo in various places. The carrot is hidden in a warp, which sadly is really easy to camp on.
So to finish this up, I would say that WF is okay. Certainly not perfect, but not much on planet Earth is. No dl, I’m afraid, but it’s up to you, the reader.
Instead of a 2.0, MS’s orig rating, I will raise this to a 3.1, because most of the level’s flaws are not his fault.
Meh…4.1 sounds better. =)
this is very scary how make you it?
I give it an 10!
No, seriously, this level is fun and well built. 8+ and download recommendation.
The level is pretty much alright yeah. No masterpiece, but alright. Actually, the purpose for this review is to ‘normalize’ the overall rating for this level thanks to reviews involving secretive personal attacks, sorry admins lol..
[what ~cooba]
A fun DOM. The tileset is used in an interesting way to mimmick that of the S&K level Lava Reef, and the result looks pretty decent, however it feels a bit overdone or confusing it places. Gameplay is solid, nice CP placement and in general there is nothing really to complain about. This gets a solid 8, worth downloading and hosting a few times.
Not bad , not bad
whole withdrawing quite a few Erorr :S
(you could repair these)
otherwise not bad
ERORRS: those 2 trees piece not his intestine would be needed Bonus is there on place it to eat truth it would not be needed according to me
with ERORRS:3,2
without ERORRS:5,2
