An updated version of the Windows 98 tileset. Has it improved?
You can still be creative with this tileset because it still has the tiles from the original Windows 98 tileset. There is now more gameplay in this tileset (shooting blocks and trigger blocks have now been added in), but its still missing vines and poles. The Tubelectric tiles are quite pointless because they don’t fit in with the rest of the tileset. Overall, the tileset has only improved because it has slightly more gameplay.
RATING: 6.7
DOWNLOAD?: I still recommend this, but its only a slight change from the original.
RANK: 6 OK
pls make the tileset bigger, more desktop tiles…maybe add a good background than that blue,AND MAKE IT ENGLISH!
It looks good… but it’s too hard!
Help me with the first trigger.
Please!

..what the heck?
Eyecandy
How in the world does this level get an 8 and 4.5 for the eyecandy? I’d say it’s a mirage, not eyecandy. This level doesn’t have anything which could be called that. Layer 4 is entirely bland and boring, and the only thing in the background is a hotel room (???). As for the background itself, it fades to black, and the background itself is very light, which looks bad :/
Gameplay
Also a heavy overrating here. This level is 50×35 tiles big (congrats), and all the paths are straight like a dash: – Too small, not enough ammo, blahblahblah.
SummaryOverall
This review is directed not only to the author, but also to other reviewers who overrate everything; mainly I mean people such as Kax, and SPAZ18 who gives an 8/10 for a level’s eyecandy just for a “good background” because he’s unable to make a better one.
Thank you ladies, goodbye
Hmm…
Visual Appeal – 3 out of 5
This level uses Tik’s conversion of the Marble Garden tileset from Sonic 3, and well, uh, it could make much better use of said tileset. The background looks decent, even if it could use layer 7 in a better way than scrolling clouds, but the sprite area does leave room for improvement.
The tileset doesn’t really allow for too much eyecandy variety, but myself I see a few creative options there and there. Anyway, aside from being a little bland, it manages to look so-so. There are no obvious tilebugs, at least.
Playability – 3 out of 5
First of all, this level is way too short. I think I was done finishing it in a bit more than 5 minutes. Some areas are a bit interesting (such as the one with float lizards and vines), and it would’ve been cool if they had been expanded.
Also, I played this level in Hard mode (as I always do), and unfortunately, it was a cakewalk. The only place where I lost a heart was the boss arena (which was done alright, but could use some more ideas). Work on the levels difficulty more next time.
SummaryOverall
Well, this shows promise. Keep my advice in mind and practise making levels.
Uhm, this level is way overrated so I shall rate it to give it, it’s right position.
Now the only reason I’m rating this is becasue the level is way overtaed and does NOT deserve an 8.
Gameplay: Well, the gameplay was, uhm, wierd. The quality of the level was not that good at all, and the level wasnt even. It didn’t have a good flow to it, and it gets confusing at parts.
4.5/10
Eyecandy: Uhm, well I found no bugs what to speak of but there was a huge mistake I found. There was absoulty no eyecandy(backround). You could of atleast added a different color texture to layer 8 but noo. And some parts like the backround didnt seem to fit. It looks like a soild wall but it’s really just backround. Horribly used.
4.5/10
Layout: Uhm, I can’t really say anything here except its strange…
N/A
Weapon/Carrot placement: Well the weapon placement was actully ok. Not really. The only good thing about the level was you actully put the Powerups somewhere instead of just randomly placing them on the ground. Carrot placement. Meh. Horrible.
4.5/10
Overall the level was not that good but it was a start if you’ve never made levels before. It was quite small and it was a useless upload.
Score
4.5/10+4.5/10+4.5/10= 4.5
Even though this leve earned a 6.3 it still deserves a 4.5 or lower. I find a 6.5 and higher a good level but meh. The level isn’t that great. I’d play it for laughs. Thats all, nothing more.

Oho, being harsh don’t you think. Meh, this really doesn’t even deserve a 4.5, just being nice.
It’s a console program, just run it without arguments and it will print out usage information.
Anyhow, making this easy to use was never the purpose of this program, as it is explained in the description. However, anyone can take this and make a nice GUI if he wants to, as long as he does it under the terms of GPL.
Well, it would be great if you’d at least give some basic info to how to use the program.

YUCK!
EYECANDY
Pretty good. The backgrounds look great. I didn’t come across any tile bugs. The effects used on some of the levels were very cool.
10/10
GAMEPLAY
The pack was a bit short I thought. The levels were not really that long or that difficult. I didn’t think there were enough secrets to be found. So the gameplay kinda let this pack down. The 2 Bubbas made it harder at the end.
6/10
ITEM PLACEMENT
There were 3 PUs in LV2 which I thought made it a bit too easy especially because I got the Blaster PU which is the best. There was an RF PU in LV3 which was placed well as I didn’t see it on the first play through. I didn’t think that there was enough food as I didn’t get a Sugar Rush. Placement is good but there’s not really enough items to find.
5/10
ENEMY & OBSTACLE PLACEMENT
Not really that many enemies in this pack. I saw about 20 enemies, that’s not really enough to kill me though. Placement is OK but there’s not enough.
Obstacles were a bit lax. There was some Trigger Scenery used in LV2 but there wasn’t anywhere else. There were some Spikeballs in LV2 also but it just wasn’t enough.
5/10

The eyecandy was great but the pack was a bit short. I’ll give this a YES as I think it’s worth a look because of the cool effects. Anything that gets 6.5 or higher will now get a Yes from me.

OUCH! MY EYES!
EYECANDY
Nothing but flashing tiles in the background. Very bad if you are epileptic. DON’T play this for more than 1 MINUTE otherwise you’ll get a headache.

GAMEPLAY
Just go through some fast spinning spike balls. Turn into a Frog, then a Bird then Copter over a pit of enemies into a Sucker Tube to the end. This took me about 30 seconds to complete.
1/10
ENEMY & OBSTACLE PLACEMENT
There was some fast spinning spikeballs. There were loads of enemies. This level is really hard to finish without using JJINV or JJRUSH, which is what I resorted to when I was a Bird.
1/10
ITEM & BONUS PLACEMENT.
No items except a Bird Morph. No Bonus Area.
1/10
TOTAL = 3/40 (0.75)
But it will have to be a 1.0 since scores like that can’t be done anymore.

NO! Unless you want a headache and sore eyes.
SCRIPTION
I quite like this set. The masking is not that great though. The tileset is quite big, there are lots of tiles to use. It is missing some of the important basic JJ2 stuff though, including text signs, destruct and buttstomp scenery blocks (* & !). The backgrounds look good. There are 2 different versions of this set; Black and White.
I would find this quite hard to use though. I wouldn’t know where to start.
Now, for a rating, I’m gonna give this a 6.5 as it’s a pretty good set but it’s hard to use and the masking isn’t really that great.

DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION?
Normally I would only say yes for anything that got 7 or more but I think it’s worth a look as it is a great concept.
WOW!
This is just amazing.
At the first place:
You perfectly build up the levels and they’re just as much fun and energic as the official Levels, well done!
At the second place:
The music is nice. The tracks fit with the levels, zo another good point.
At the third and last place:
The levels are great for the real players. The secrets are very well hidden, the enemies make it real hard levels and all the pickups are very well lay-out.
Final opinion:
A real MUST HAVE for the real Jazz2 player. Good Music and Good levels, some tiny mini defaults, makes me come up with a 9.7
Great Job, keep on the good work.
I’d reccomend taking the “(2)” away from the white set’s filename, to avoid in-game download troubles.
What a terrible masking job.
Nice concept though
Wow, really awesome conversion, no bugs and it’s really easy to use. Lot of event tiles, some nice animations… Surely one of the best conversions ever done.
