Emerald Spaz likes the level. However, I think there are many ways this level could be improved.

EYECANDY:
The eyecandy doesn’t seem to be too much of a problem. The backround is used Okly and so is the sprite (except for the dissapearing platforms. There was nothing for the edge, more on those later).
RATING: 7.1

GAMEPLAY:
Aha! The gameplay was not so good. The platforms animate way to quickly and are annoying (you get stuck to). The water switches were good but not for using in battles (maybe use them in single player). Only Tubes and springs were used good.
RATING: 4.5

ITEMS:
Items were used ok. The fast fires were impossible to get because of the dissapearing tiles (too fast, if not impossible then very hard). Appart from that, everything is good.
RATING: 6.4

SIZE:
The level was big enough for a good battle, but some areas were not open enough for battles. Infact, at the beggining, it felt very single player like.
RATING: 5.1

BONUSSES:

MUSIC:
Tubelectric….. +0.1

TILESET:
Tubelectric basically matches the music.+0.1

Its a good level, especially for a first level. Its got a design that is ok, but a bit confusing, I thought you couldn’t get back to the start to get the coin until I worked out how to get there again.

That was by ‘leaking’ the water out into the lab. A nice touch, it definately showed that the lab ‘had a leak’ and going to the start and up again ‘pulled the plug’ shall we say? Making the players able to walk around as normal again. 5

Another nice touch was the pipes that went in and out of existance, and thats sign was right, I nearly went through the floor XD. 5 again

There was one of the flaws, but it wasn’t too annoying, the text on the sign, just a little tip: put two @ before you enter the text, it will move the text down two lines. -0

Second flaw is a set of fastfires, but they were hard to get to and didn’t respawn, except for 3 :/ thats why I ain’t removing 2, just one. -1

Last but not least, the pipes, They were both good, and not good, good cause they blocked the fastfires until I found out how to get past, and not good cause I got sort of sick of them stoping me >_> -1

Total score; 8 :D

Pros:
Good level
Nice design
Great use of trigger zones

Cons:
Fastfires, some respawning, some not.
Pipes stop you too many times

So great design, just ned to slow down the pipes a little.

One day, I was just wandering around when my brother was downloading latest downloads on J2O. He immediately latched onto Chet’s levels, laughing at them, pointing out all the bugs and being just nasty all the way. And – guess what? It was fun!

As you may guess, when I got the PC I started playing these. Maybe I could write reviews for all of them, but that would take too much time, so instead I’m just taking care of the one (or actually two) that got me most interested. Yeah, interested. It actually isn’t as boring as it may look at first glance!

you Will pay beccuse the dead R alive.!!
The story is very mysterious. In fact, we know nothing more than the fact that it’s apperently happening on 12:10 (after midnight I guess) when the dead come. And they hate us. In fact, the level texts even suggest that they use some sort of a tactic to attack us! Oh my. I just wonder what may it be, as it looks like the only way they do so are the two holes that make us go back. There’s also one more thing, but I have no idea who is really behind it – the dead or the player.

CLICK
Whatever you do, you will see this message, followed by “YOU RELEASED DEMONS”. Trigger? I think not. However, the way it’s done is plain awesome. This text is going to be my canon for the next few weeks! Now whenever someone does something that makes a click sound I say “YOU RELEASED DEMONS”! That should be a classic!

ROAR
These two levels are trying really hard to be scary. I must say that while I was actually having great fun instead of being scared, I found… mysterious stuff. As a Metroid fan, when I found some weird tunnel I thought “secret sequence break passage?!” Now I think I really have to cut down with game series. The tunnel led to nowhere. ;( What a shame! This was starting to get fun and then brutally shattered my dreams! Also, in both levels there are places with really LOTS of 1ups. Just so you can retry these “hard” levels as many times as you want. How kind! ^^

BE CARFUL.Thereas a TRAP!
Another thing that made me enjoy especially the first level were the really, really, really secret secrets! They’re so secret that probably the author himself didn’t know about them! This is better than hidden worlds in Metroid 2. With Spaz, I reached the unfinished parts of the level! AWESOME! With that, I could scale even higher to the empty, mysterious pieces, exploring the mysteries of Chet’s mind! THIS IS THE SOUL OF THE LEVEL BABE

Something tells me I am being watched
The second level was somewhat short… O r wasn’t it? I saw some pieces of it that I appearently missed… In fact, I probably did some sequence breaking (intended?), because I got to the boss which wanted to take my gems. Ouch. He probably meant the metaphoric version, as I barely had any actual gems… However, I saw a lot of them just behind the wall! Were they my property? I wonder how, as the beggining of the level clearly stated as it’s somebody else’s house… Boss’? No idea. Another SPOOKY MYSTERY (someone call Scooby-Doo and the gang!)

AND there he is.I’LL BE GOING!!!!!
There’s even more and more of the mysteries, as for example Eva appearing out of nowhere on hard difficulty (plus on easy and in multiplayer too, but if you’re playing on medium, better avoid the regal secret) or the mysterious voice giving you advice on harder parts. Yes, this set of 2 levels is one of the most intriguing downloads in the past few months… maybe even years… Especially that there is one more mystery in it that will probably never be solved. This mystery is… the sense of all this. And if you find it, you can call yourself the successor of Sherlock Holmes!

SCORE: 2.5

Pros:
(+) Gives a good laugh
(+) SECRET WORLDS ;D
Cons:
(-) Really bad eyecandy
(-) Completely random enemy placement
(-) Lack of sense

Good job. These are really wonders. I like them very much. Especially the Unreal Imagination. It’s a good theme. Especially because of the inverted masks. Even the Townsville is good. Houses look a lot like real houses. And the mountains are even great. Textures in all the other tilesets and in these are wonderful and even the other background layers. Good.

I used MODTracker, and I wanted to give it a try. I know it was kinda repetitive, but I wanted to create a good song. I may make more once I collect the right samples. I saved it as an Impulse Tracker file. I’m currently extending the mix, by adding the 3D Bonus Stage Music to it.

Introduction:
Your basic arrangements of Orbitus and Tubelectric slapped together to make one long song.

Song Analysis:
It’s pretty basic all and all. Around 2:41, the song switches over to something a little more drum-oriented. 3:27(Pattern 27) to the end consists of the same 16 notes played over, and over, and over, and over again using the sample from Tubelectric with no volume slides or cuts, no note cuts, and nothing to soften the blow between each note. At high volumes, this could be deafening; at low volumes, this is rather irritating.

Sample Analysis:
A couple new samples(or maybe some samples from Jazz Jackrabbit 2) mixed with some samples from Jazz Jackrabbit. Nothing much to say here. Robert A. Allen had good taste.

Final Analysis:
This song is irritating and repeatitive. You took a perfectly good song that had some depth to it and decisively hindered it.

Score: X.XX
“Originality” Points: X.XX
Total Score: X.XX
As per request, seeing as this is this person’s “first try,” scoring will be withheld. This is as “nice” as I get.

Recommendation?:
I don’t really recommend this to anyone. The song itself isn’t bad, but it’s a far cry from anything interesting.

This is a VERY good remix, oever. I liked the intro, the buildup and them the sudden switch to Tubelectric. Great stuff, man. I expect more uploads! My only complaint would be that it gets a little repetitive after a while. Other than that, this definitely gets a download recommendation.

So here’s the review
Gameplay:
It was very very hard to play. Not enough carrots and 1ups and the ones are hidden hard. So you always loose lives and start from the beggining. And this makes it a little boring. Except the difficulty, generally it was good. The levels were well-built, long enough to have fun.

Goodies and Baddies: As i said, there were lack of carrots and extra lives. Also there were too many types of ammo, this was pointless. Foods were fine, not much gems. (not that important) Baddies were fine and enough.

Usage of Tileset: This tileset is a good choice for a single player pack. The usage was good and ther were no tile bugs. (At least i didn’t see any.)

Extras:
This pack is original. There are lots of fun with original ideas like the falling and moving crates. Also there was an interesting story. I was sick of the Devan stories. So this pack shows us a single player pack should be good without the Devan’s ‘Destroy Of Somewhere’ plans.
This makes me give a 8.2 for the originality and break points just for the goodies and the difficulty. I highly recommend you to download the pack.

This pack was rather interesting, for all the wrong reasons. Also, I will have to pick at other reviews, something I despise doing, but feel is very neccesary in this case.
Story-3/10
The back of the gamebox(AKA- Download info) reads as so:
“You have found out that the evil Big Corp. is evil and have found ut they ae makeing weapons. But for what reason? And who is the owner of the factory?”
Ok, if no one could figure out that the “Evil Big Corp.” was evil, then I doubt the success of the mission. There also many unexplained bits in the story, spolier alert

such as why Big Corp was going to bomb the turtles

End spoiler
or what the ‘Trigger safes’ had to do with anything. There are also major plot holes. such as why were the turtles working for Big corp if they were going to be see above spoiler.
Very little adds up, and once the true villain is revealed you’re going to be very confused. And as mentioned before, his motives are extremely unclear. Sure it didn’t include Devan, but it might as well have. spoiler

Just replace the Turtle City as a Rabit City, and bolly as Devan, and you wouldn’t know the difference

end spoiler
And what is wrong with Devan being the main villain in a pack? Play the IoD seiries made by Evilmike for an example of an excellent story involving Devan. Heck play that for an example of an excellent story ‘cause there ain’t one here.

Gameplay and Level Design-4/10
Listen it’s possible to make linear levels that are good. If a level is linear, and it’s still pretty decent I give it a decent score. The 2nd level was a grand example of this, too bad it was pretty short compared to the waytoolong first level. However the first and third level are prime examples of poor linear levels. The puzzles and secrets are so simple to solve and find, it’s pretty embarrising. So is the unforgiving level design. Theres more than enough carrots, but all in places you dont need them in. The level formula for the first level is this: Shoot, run, solve simple block/crate puzzle, run, shoot smash trigger crate, rinse wash repeat. You’re bound to get bored playing throught the first level normally. Now add in a couple of deaths, and too-far-spaced-out checkpoints, and you’ve got a breeding ground for more boredom and some frustration. Not to mention of the last segment of the first level is a downer.
The third level also follows a formula and its : Stomp crate, enter newly opened area, stomp crate, enter newly opened area, stomp crate, enter newly opened area. And then a boss fight in a pinball arena. Wait- Pinball arena? Why does Big Corp. have a huge Pinball room? And doesn’t a Corp. have extermintors to take care of the rats, bees, bats, and ravens? To tell you the truth, the pinball arena is very poorly done, and makes the fight easier than it should be. Finally here is the bit where I pick at another’s review:
When Chandie said that the moving crates was ‘innovative’, I was thoroughy confused. The concept of moving/ falling crates have been used in levels before. While the majority of those aren’t ‘Single Player’ levels, the idea has been done. Innovation usually means something new, and there isn’t anything in this pack I haven’t seen before

Secrets,Puzzles, and Pickups-2/10
I’m sorry, but if you cant solve the puzzles in this pack, then you need to get a new brain, and an IQ above 2. I never felt like I was solving a puzzle at all in this pack, although there are some bits that try to disguise themselves as a ‘puzzle’. Puzzles should be slightly dificult, not braindead easy. Same goes for the secrets: Make them secret! All of the secrets in this pack can easily be found. A simple way of finding secrets is this: If you can see it, chances are theres a ‘hole’ in the wall/ceiling nearby that sends you to the secret. Pickups are horrendusly useless, with the exception of a few carrots and 1ups, I don’t think anything I found was particully useful. The ammo only got in my way, and when I want to use the blaster over the seeker, you know that extra ammo is useless.

Final Score*- 3+4+2=9 9/3= *3.
DR?- No. I can’t say I reccomend this pack. And trust me, I have played some packs I’d love to reccomend.

EYECANDY:
There are no tilebugs but there is no stuff in the backround or the foreground. Layer 5 has been used as a backup for layer 4 in parts of the battle though.
EYECANDY RATING: 4.2

GAMEPLAY:
Not a lot. The level felt quite empty without gameplay. There were some texts that said ‘DANGER POWER TOO HIGH’ in them which I really didn’t get the point of, since the lighs went out (wouldn’t the lighting be set higher than normal if the power was high??). To sum up, just some springs, sucker tubes and vines.
GAMEPLAY RATING: 5.6

ITEMS:
The items seemed to be placed with too many in some areas bt not so many in others. There was a passage with some ammo crates, but its impossible to shoot them all and you get loads of unwanted ammo. I don’t see the point in puting stuff like that in levels.
ITEMS RATING: 4.1

SIZE:
OKish. There is a lot of space to move around in but sometimes, areas are too open and empty.
SIZE RATING: 6.5

MUSIC:
Hell music for something that seems like a nature battle?? Also, too original. +0.1

TILESET:
Different. Not many hotel tilesets are used for battles, then, It quite stupid.
