I am pretty fond of diamondus levels (especially JJ1) so I was lookinf forward to playing this level.

EYECANDY: 16/20

Its like normal JJ2 diamondus eyecandy only better. I like the foreground waterfalls placed at certain points around the level. Overall, great eyecandy.

GAMEPLAY: 17/20

Hmmmmmm…..The level may seem achingly beautiful, but the gameplay is not as good as the eyecandy. A few springs but the event ‘float up’ is used at the bottom which brings things up.

EDIT: +3 marks for use of ‘One way’ event.

ITEMS: 16/20

The items seem to be placed properly around the level but you could use more ammo.

SIZE: 18/20

The level is somewhere between medium and large sized. Either way, there are alot of spaces to move into.

OBSTACLES: 16/20

Use of one way event kind of provides an obsticle. So does the ‘float ups’ at the bottom.

BONUSSES AND SUBTRACTIONS:

Music:

Suits level +3pts

Different style +1pt

Beautiful eyecandy +4 pts

Total: +8pts

TOTAL SCORE: 81/100

RATING: 8

FINAL COMMENT: The music is different. The only other music file which comes close to being like that is probaly ds_ga.xm (Gaia’s awakening). Overall, 8 is quite rarely seen nowadays so please download this.

I am kind of interested in swamp battles because then you could make great use of water.

EYECANDY: 13/20

Eyecandy is OK. You could improve the backround a little bit. A few tile errors in some parts. Great use of water!!(Like I said in my first comment).

GAMEPLAY: 15/20

I also like water because it improves your gameplay!!!! Some areas lack gameplay so improve that in the future.

ITEMS: 12/20

Some areas of the level could use a little more ammo.

SIZE: 17/20

I found this level quite big. Big areas to move in (except some water areas).

OBSTACLES: 16/20

Water………

I might be overrating this but since I love water, I don’t care!!!

I’m just not going to rate this. Many of the tiles are missing, the level is small and the sucker tube does not work.

EXTRA NOTE: 8 hours is not a long time. I have spent more than 12 days doing mine.

No starting comment, so lets get right to the review.

EYECANDY: 12/20

Basic Tubelectric eyecandy is all I have to say. The backround is the same (Radio type things and speakers) and plugs for the foreground.

GAMEPLAY: 14/20

Because the level is small (I’ll mention that later in my review) there will be little gameplay. A few springs and a tube and thats about it.

ITEMS: 8/20

I couldn’t find many items in the level. A tiny bit of ammo and a carrot. Thats it.

SIZE: 8/20

Here is the cause of all your problems. Size is very important because:

a) You don’t have to squish loads of ammo in.

b) It gives you more space to move.

c) Allows more players to join the game.

OBSTACLES: 3/20

Huh??

BONUSSES AND SUBTRACTIONS:

SIZE -2

GREEN SPRINGS -2

TOTAL BONUS/LOSS: -4

TOTAL SCORE: 41/100

FINAL COMMENT: I wanted a good battle. Virtues was good but this is a dissapointment.

Since i’m tired i will just make this review short (ish).

EYECANDY: 14/20

Good eyecandy. Foreground eyecandy can block view.

GAMEPLAY: 17/20

Great gameplay. Nice use of ‘sucker tube’ event. Warps at bottom.

AMMO: 13/20

Level lacks ammo. Too many power ups.

SIZE: 18/20

Not to big, not too small. Areas can be annoying.

OBSTACLES: 16/20

A few obstacles here and there. Eg. Jumps.

SUBS AND BONUSES:

Idea of roof battle. +5

TOTAL SCORE: 83/100

RATING: 8.2

COMMENT: Told you my review was short.

I have given more reviews with ratings below 6.5. This time I’m hoping for a higher one.

LEVEL 1:

There is a huge overusage of items and enemies in this level. There is no eyecandy to make the level look nice. To make the level harder without overusing enemies, put in a few more spikes (I tend to overuse spikes sometimes). Also, packs that have under 5 levels must include long levels. Also, please include hidden passages in the levels. RATING: 4.5

LEVEL 2:

I could put just about the same comment as I did in level 1. I found many tile errors in this level which I really hate. RATING: 4.7

LEVEL 3:

Same old comment. No eyecandy, tile errors, items overused.

RATING: 4.3

AVERAGE RATING: 4.5

FINAL COMMENT:

You won’t want 4.5’s in the future. Still no level over 6.5. Oh well. Use the advice I gave you and spend more time on your levels and (if you can) test them!!

EDIT: Looking at the review you gave in my newest level I decided to play your levels again. I found a tile error at pos 248,7 in level one right at the start (Error with wall). There was eyecandy in the levels but very little and I found 2 hidden passages. I will raise your rating to 5 but please look out for tile errors in future.

My first treasure hunt review scince my ‘over a year’ long break.

EYECANDY: 7/20

Very dissapointing. The backround looks very bad and the moving bricks in the backround are very annoying and make you sick.

GAMEPLAY: 8/20

Only falling gems. That is all.

AMMO: UNMARKED

No ammo.

SIZE: 10/20

Small. That is all I have to say.

GEM PLACEMENT: 5/20

There is an unlimited amount of gems and anyway, how can I give you a mark for falling gems??

BONUSSES/SUBTRACTIONS:

Falling gem idea +0.2
TOTAL: +0.2

TOTAL SCORE: 32/100

RATING: 3.2

FINAL COMMENT: If the level wern’t annoying, i’d give you a higher score and rating. I really want to say don’t download this but if you want demonstration on a good idea, you might download this. Anyway, this is not a very complex piece of work.

Yet another splendid battle-level. This was, if I remember it correct, the first level that I saw from Wrath. For first when I looked at the level, it seemed to be just any average battle-level so far, but investigating it further I began liking the level more and more.

For first about the layout itself…The dead ends which I usually dislike if they aren’t really fitting the layout. This time they were really allright and making the level more tactical. Still the rest of the layout was fantastic. It’s hard to actually explain why I like the layout so much, but it probably might be that everything is well balanced. There are enough of close and open rooms. I also liked that there were two warps leading to the northeast of the level.

The eyecandy is good enough and doesn’t have to be too superior because the current one with bg-wall tiles and so on already fits to the layout and that the level ain’t so big. At least it doesn’t confuse.

There are also two +1-carrots which is just a good choice when thinking of the level size and type. They are both placed into very small dead but long dead ends where the opponent may camp for a period of time. It can be possibly breaken with electro-blasters anyway, which is good. As powerups there were Toaster and Bouncer. The most usual one. There was a copter around the middle of the level, making it able to either reach the bouncy-PU, collect some separated bouncers from the top or go to the upper level in northeast where you can go also via the warp in bottom-middle. Rf can be also used to climb up to the 2nd highest level as well but I doubt no one except Bobby(if even he) can make it up the wall in the very northeast, which wouldn’t be even that useful. ;p

However, this level didn’t have a real original concept, but the layout was a great one which brought some feeling of a decent old level, with still not too non-solid layout. Must say I prefer this far more than Battle1 for example. So far it is worth of an 8 even, please download and host sometimes when Wrath isn’t doing that himself.

Hey!
I couldnt try this lvls, cuz JJ2 1.24 isnt installed at the moment… It’d be cool if you’ll build your lvls in future with TECJCS (download here: (-)) so we can play your lvls in JJ2 Version 1.23, too! They sound interesting!
But I can tell you who built the tilesets ;) The tileset you’ve used is called “Diamondus Beta”, built by Epic Megagames and Pyromanus GPW

Another level by you :)

Eyecandy: This is still not a lot. Background is there and there also is a tree, but overall very basic. There are also a lot of bugs like at pos 47,188. You should search the right tile to fill up the green block. Also a lot of things have been cut off. At 26,167 you can see the cut off, and right next to it is a tree which also has been cut off in the middle :/ The background also has been cut off (Layer 8), add some of those root things. I got a screenshots of the level in JCS. The rest looks fine and the leaves are good :)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a299/lustingheart/thewratheyecandybug.jpg
^— Circle around the cut off tree and the tiles in the wall. Also use those things on the left to make the background in layer 8 look not so cut off.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a299/lustingheart/thewratheyecandy2.jpg
^—- the cut off background and the ledges were Jazz has to run fast and leap to a platform while Spaz can double jump.
this is at pos 58,170 to 82,170.

Gameplay: This is nice. There are a few dead ends and it seems spaz-biased though, look at screenshot 2. The water is cool too, that you can walk in it. You used it really good. The level is kinda small though.

Weapons: Not a lot, but it could be enough for few players. It’s nicely spread out over the level. Maybe try to hide the powerups in a wall and add the electroblaster so they have to shoot it through a wall. Or coins. Right now it’s easy to get all the powerups.

Comment overall level: I’s okay :) Maybe should have better music? This getting better.

I agree with RoW_Odin314, it is a battle 2 remake, its not that bad but its not that great either.

The power up added i believe takes away from the gameplay as there is only one carrot on the level – hard to recover from a pu.

However I would recommend downloading it as an alternative to the overplayed battle 2 :D.

EYECANDY
Very nice eye-candy, the tileset is pretty cool and the way the tileset has been used is also cool.

GAMEPLAY
The structure of the level is what i’m most miffed about, I have seen so many levels that look like that its unbelievable. You may want to consider re-submitting this level as a CTF instead, this is not a taditional battle level – its not a battle level i would particulary enjoy playing on – tho its still a good level, I just disagree with the style.

MUSIC
Well chosen, ive not heard this before and it suits the levels kind of mood – old worn-out looking, erm i dunno.

Its an eye-appealing level and the items placed on the level are not in bad postions at all, but to be honest its really platformy and to me all these battles with many type “islands” all look the same to me

I would still recommend downloading this level, there has clearly been a lot of time spent on it.

Reviewing… The Yelp Zone

Eyecandy:
Not real good… there could have been a lot more eyecandy in the background. There are also a lot of eyecandy bugs you can see from pos. 89,69, that piece of wall is just made of blocks, while the rest of it looks right. The candles with the float up part look a little bit weird too. Maybe cover the bottoms up with the sprite forground layer with some ground, because the bottom of the candle doesn’t look nice on the block of ground under it.

Gameplay:
Fairly ok, there is enough space to move around. There are only a few dead ends, that most of the time have a goodie (or a weapon bomb). There seems to be a Spaz-biased place too, like 57,43. Is the sucker tube supposed to bring Jazz up? Jazz has to use his uppercut to reach the platform and Spaz can easily jump to 62,40, while Jazz has to go trough the sucker tube (Or Uppercut, which takes longer than Spaz) then go down again to get there. I liked the place with the glass balls and the hooks ;P I did think the candles with float ups were nice too.

Weapons:
Nope. There is way too little ammo for this level. They come in pairs of 3 pickups, or only 1. Around pos. 106,90 there is a large amount of ammo and even a powerup stuffed in a dead end. This should have been spread out more. There is just way too little ammo for 6 players.

Comment overall level:
It’s a little below average, but more eyecandy and more ammo could help a lot.
