Danyjel has amazed me.
This level is breathless. It’s a new landmark for JJ2 levels from which all levels should be judged. How? Let’s find out. :)
Eyecandy-10/10
Danyjel has created a realistic looking drop area. How this was accomplished with the tileset, or even JJ2 is beyond me. THAT’s just how good the world you play in looks. Nextgen systems got nothing on this. Even Jazz looks better!
Story-NA/NA
There is a very enticing story that is here. But it’s up to you to create it! How astonishing!
Placement-10/10
Everything in the level is placed correctly. No warp bugs or missing warps at the end. Yay.
Gameplay-10/10
This level is beyond words. You can do many things on your plummet. First choice: Do you want to fall as Jazz or Spaz? And using Jazz 2’s cheats you can even change your rabbit midflight! And if you so wish, be a frog or a hip-hop! Amazing! You can also change what direction you are facing! Such grand choices. Clearly the sandboxy nature of this level makes it the most advanced level currently made for JJ2.
Final Verdict-Excellent level, and great music. You just have to play it to belive it. Do I get my 100 euros now?
Final Score- 10/10
Download Reccomendation? Yes!
Play Co-op/Online? Of course! Not sharing this experience would be plain mean!
Also useable as- A handy thermos.
[Inappropiate rating (10) removal. Unfortunately inappropiate, for obvious reasons.. Quite funny tho. – FQuist]
I guess I should write a review for this. It deserves one. I’d also say this tileset is well on it’s way to being the featured download for this month.
Here we have two tilesets by Noka – Toxicus and Lavapolis. Both are very similar, with a few minor changes here and there. Toxicus has toxin, mountains, and what looks like rocks, while Lavapolis has lava, buildings, and metal. Originally, these tilesets were bigger, and TSF only, and were supposed to be a remake of Technoir.
Graphics – 8/10
Just about everything looks really nice. Very high quality, and lots of detail put into it. I do have a few complaints, though. The biohazard tower looks kind of dithered, for lack of a better word. Also, I can’t say I love the mountains in Toxicus. Other than that, everything looks fairly good.
Mask – 9.5/10
Hardly any problems here. My main concerns are how the disappearing blocks are somewhat jaggedly masked, also that’s not too much of a problem since you’ll almost always be putting one way events on these tiles. The other thing that really bugs me is that there is no invisible masked tile (atleast not that I can find). Other than that, I can’t really see any problems.
Animations – 9/10
Pretty much every animation you’d want in a lava / toxic refinery tileset. Lava / toxin falls, conveyor belts (which are kinda weird looking but still look pretty nice), radio antennaes, and more… there’s not much else you’d want in a tileset like this. Everything is animated pretty well and smoothly. The lava and toxin falls seem rushed, however. The foam they create looks like it’s ripped from Jungrock, for one thing, and it doesn’t really move (it just changes colors). It looks decent, I guess, but it could be a lot better.
Palette – 8/10
Everything seems fairly nice. All palette events look good except for the carrot pinball bumpers which look buggy in the Toxicus sets. Water works well in 8bit in all the sets besides Toxicus vs. Lavapolois (it looks slightly buggy here). The main flaw in the palette is that you didn’t take advantage of some of the things 8bit can do. I would’ve loved to see green water in Toxicus, and red water in Lavapolis, but I’m not gonna complain too much since not that many people use 8-bit anyway. Snow works, too. Not that anyone would want to make it snow here.
Eyecandy – 8/10
Meh, could use a lot more eyecandy, but I’m not gonna take off too much because I know Noka would’ve added more if 1.23 had a more convinient tileset size limit. You can still make a great looking level with this set, as seen in the example levels.
Event tiles – 9.5/10
Pretty much everything you ever wanted in this area. Could use some more destruct block types, though.
Overall (not an average) – 8.2/10
Great tileset. I’m really glad you made a 1.23 version of this. Download reccomendation.
First of, minus 0.5 points for saying the level is 1.23 while it is for TSF only.
This level isn’t so bad actually. It’s very trigger based, you have to solve a lot of puzzles, like finding trigger crates, using the right ammo to blast a certain block or moving crates into TNTs while you’re Froggy or the bird. The problem: this has all been done before thousands of times. From the other reviews I expected worse though, and the level was quite challenging. I liked the bird part with bees chasing you (I managed to lure one into TNT though =P). The eyecandy was standard – just like any other diamondus level out there. No story or plot, but it was ok.
Overall this was an average level with some good ideas, which sadly, have been done before a lot. Puzzle friends will probably like this, fans of fast paced action won’t.
I would’ve given a 6.5, but I find it annoying how every third upload says it’s 1.23 while it’s for TSF only. A single click would have saved me some time.
EDIT
I want to thank this level and it’s creator for getting me my first Featured Review. And, White Rabbit, ofcourse. =D
Starting Comments

No actual level…
Bonus Points: You’d wish…

Download Recommendation:
Yes, if you got ADHD or a good sense of humor. It was kinda fun for the hyperactive people on this earthball. =D
Further Comment:
Make some real levels, ok?
It’s interesting how these ratings are actually valid. Then again, I can’t find anything to prove them wrong.
EDIT: Okay, they aren’t. Fooled me.
Ugh…Better review…I don’t know what to say..but I’ll give it a shot…
First of all, DELETE THIS PIECE OF CRAP OF J2O!
Ok I’ll put it into sections.
Eyecandy: A star and some tubes…big whoop. I give this one a… 1.0
Gameplay: Left and right are the only buttons that make you move…oh boy. 1.0
Flow: Alot of this….but it’s involentary flow. 1.0
Overall: Fquist…I don’t know how to make reveiws on stuff like this. This is a huge waste of space. I don’t care if you were in my clan, man. I can’t believe they haven’t gotten rid of this.
Oh, and I hate the music. 1.0
Best level ever. Guarantees for hours of fun!
[Inappropiate (10) rating removal. For a rating this high and extraordinary a very good reason should be given for rating the level thus. None was given at all. – FQuist]
Awesome music. Pointless level.

(Please stop messing with the downloads section. ~Violet)
I dont agree with that low rating here….
What is wrong with you guys , you just acting like jelous kids… Someone finally made a perfect level WITHOUT ANY SINGLE BUG so we all should give it a 10 ! It really deserves a ten and now even a higher rating because Danyjel put effort to update the level and to add EVEN MORE eyecandy, but that is not all ! Danyjel did all that hard work and he enlarged the level… yes you have to wait untill you will fall on the warp LONGER than before which makes this level more exciting!!
I would give it a ten because Danyjel has construct something different, he came up with completely new idea , this is the modern level where you dont have to even put effort to play !.. You know when I was bored before Danyjel has made such a thing I didnt know what to do with my self… But now when I am bored I just start this level named The Drop. I shut my eyes, listen to music and I am guessing when jazz will warp to the top of this level.. Man I am getting better with it !! Try it -this is FUN !! And most important is that my fingers can relax too.. I dont have to force my fingers to do all that hard work on my keyboard, I dont even have to destroy my eyes in front of the screen, I’m just using my ears to listen the music and warp sound :)
Sorry Danyjel I would give you a 10 one more time but you can see how the people on J2O are… They just dont understand needs of those who like to play games in modern and easy way…
And I give it a:

GRATZ FOR DANYJEL :D
~ NOKA
[Nice review, but please don’t mess with the downloads section like this – FQuist]
Playability:
Below average. At the start it looked like the level had some potentioal, with a switch making a crate fall down, but the rest was just a bunch of lizards, a trigger crate or two and then a dead end. I had no idea where I should go or what I should do, and after trying out stuff for three minutes I typed jjq.
Balance:
Too easy. Floating lizards rock when placed in the right location, but in the way they are put in this level they don’t prove any challenge. There wasn’t any difference between enemies either, only lizards. The few puzzle areas which involved triggers where easy aswell. I couldn’t finish the level though, it seems like this level was uploaded before it was even finished.
Creativity:
Hardly any creativity. The switch + crate thing at the start was not so bad, but the rest was just killing lizards and getting stuck in a dead end. There was no creativity in terms of eyecandy either, only a few blocks have been used to create an environment which looks just dull and uninspired.
Eyecandy:
The whole landscape exists out of blocks. The background is a blue sky texture. That’s the whole thing. Bland and unrealistic.
Fun Factor:
People with a slow internet connection will probably spend more time downloading this than actually playing it. It’s very short, and not really fun due to the bad gameplay. Everything looks quite unfinished.
Overall:
Not worth the download.
This picture immediately inspired me to use this set. The eyecandy especially. Good job. ;P
Very nice thing ;D
and MAKE MORE TILESETS SIR
Wow, that’s really cool. What’d you use to color this?
Playability:
Better than earlier works of Iluz, but still very unprofessional. All the levels involve running around, getting some pickups and killing one of multiple bosses in a way too large arena. The pickups were placed in a very unbalanced way. Often you’ll find one spot with a lot of weapons, while the rest is empty. Multiple bosses clumped together is not a very good idea either. All the levels were really short, and it didn’t take a long time to finish the pack.
Balance:
Very easy. The bad guys didn’t really prove a challenge and with the right tactic you could lure out one of the bosses and beat him up while the other guys just stand somewhere else and do nothing. There wasn’t that much weaponry, but enough to successfully kill off one of the bosses and end the level.
Creativity:
Not very creative. Clumped together bosses have been there since ages, and I couldn’t remind anything else that’s creative either. The tilesets weren’t used very well either, even though some levels had a background layer or two. The first level had some kind of plot (destroy the motherbrain), but I had wished there was some kind of storyline.
Eyecandy:
Dull. In the first level it was ok, but it got worse with every level I passed. In the second level many blocks that looked solid were unsolid, which was annoying. The third level was the worst, with annoying metal stuff in the foreground, making it hard to see anything. In the last one the lighting suddenly turned to 0 when I was in what was supposed to be a temple, then it got 100 again for no reason.
Fun Factor:
Due to the poor gameplay, lack of difficulty and too short levels, it wasn’t really fun to play.
Overall: 3.2
Better than older stuff of the author, but still not really good.
Awesome picture! :)
I think there are some slightly little errors concerning perspective, but still it’s a much better pic than I could have ever drawn. =P
Welcome back, by the way.
Great great great!!! NOKA is back :)
hey this picture isnt so bad…..
Playability:
Not bad for a beginners level (which I assume it is from the other reviews). You have to get up a tower to stop Devan from dropping a bomb. There is no real time limit though, so you have as much time as you want to. There are many different challenges, like platforms that magically dissapear or well placed enemies. It was a bit short though. I died once, near the top where the fencers killed me, but it was not all that difficult. The Devan boss was a bit too standard, I had liked some change.
Balance:
Few pickups and challenging enemies make this seem a bit tricky, but it’s not too hard for advanced players, due to the fact that it’s very short. Making it longer would improve this drastically.
Creativity:
Very creative for a first level. Usual first levels are like a straight line filled with enemies. This one has many nice ideas, but it fails due to the short size. A move advanced story would’ve been cool, too, but I’m guessing this was intended to be a little level to have fun with, not something you play for hours, and that job it did fairly well.
Eyecandy:
Creative use of the tileset, but it still looks a bit dull. I like the translucent background though. I’d appreciate a little more realism. Platforms just flying in the air for no reason don’t look good. Still, the eyecandy is better than most beginners stuff I’ve seen lately.
Fun Factor:
As a short level to have fun with it’s good enough, but if you are looking for something that gives you some hours of playtime, this isn’t reccommended.
A nice little level, nothing more, but nothing less either.
These 3 battle levels must be the cutest I have ever seen. The scale is almost perfectly done, yet they’re still fully recognizable as smaller counterparts of their bigger brothers. Our rabbits look like giants in these levels, and it’s quiet fun to just explore them, especially Battle 1 and 2 and 3 (wait, that’s all of them :-P).
These levels were equite enjoyable in public servers, although some of the conversions have gone amiss (like Jazz-unfriendly parts in Battle 3, where some springs don’t go up high enough and Jazz can’t get 50 ammo from the bouncy PU, and a LOT of ammo has goen as well, but I can’t complain on the ammo part, because they just reduce lag). What’s fun is that the level-design flaws in some of the levels are still in this pack, only much smaller, and getting shot up to the two pillars above the seeker PU ledge in Battle 1 was pretty cool.
Some events are useless, like the copters, while many areas gain more importance now that the levels have grown smaller. Camping at the carrot is harder in Battle 2, mass-bouncers near the seeker PU in Battle 3 is slightly more effective, because of shorter travellin time, and the bottom-right corner of Battle 1 is a deadly camping spot with any powered-up weapon.
The gameplay of all levels feel quite normal, despite the smallness, and I’ve got nothing to say about the eyecandy, because they weren’t Newspaz’s levels and it wouldn’t be a very faithful conversion if lots of new stuff were added. Some events had to be moved and deleted due to the small size, but it just makes the shrinkag more realistic.
For those that want some crazy fun in multiplayer, this pack is a must download, but I can’t give the conversion a rating above 8 because of the fact that none of the original levels were actually made by Newspaz. ;-)
I don’t even have to edit my review to boast that I got the longest review. ;-D
EDIT: Hmpf! It turns out that I didn’t get the longest review, so I added more stuff…
