Welcome to the fantastic world of JJ2! And, ofcourse, welcome to the even more fantastic world of JCS! Ok, the level.

Originality
This is an interesting idea! Jazz is having a dream! Haven’t seen lots of those before! :D

Creativity
First, nice job on the animations! I don’t seem to get those right… Ever… Anyway, there was a creative twist to the Devan Robot boss. You can’t attack his robot (hidden somewhere) but you must bring him a chest with ham! LOL! Once you brought him the chest, you get paid and can use the warp to the end of the level. :D

Music Choice
Just plain old Mario Music. :D It fits the tileset anyway, so it’s good.

Overall
It certainly not bad for a first level. Just basic, but fun! I’ll give you a 6.

Good thing
If you notice, there is a house near yours which says “Tuf turt’s place”. If you kill the turtle and come back later, it says “For sale”. LOL!!!!!
Bonus Points: 1.0
Bad thing
Work on extreme eyecandy. People LOVE extreme eyecandy.
Bonus Points: 0

Score:
7.0

Download Recommendation:
Yes. It’s fun.

Further Comment:
Can’t wait for the next level. 8D

I can’t get it to work, how do you install these files?
(ADMIN RESPONSE: You do not install them. Extract the files into the same folder as Jazz2.exe. The tileset will be available in the list of tilesets in JCS, and you will be able to play the level through various ways. ~Violet)

Eh, I knew you didn’t install them.
looks around What?! I’m being honest!
Here’s the review:

I noticed something.
When you get the red flag and go to the blue base, it says LOSER.

When I played, You were stuck in the top, so I custom added the starting position.

I like the music and it\‘s fun!

Imagine if you made a Lori level with the Lori stuff, it would be….very..um…yellow.

Nice job, Download Recommendation but be prepared to custom add your starting point near the \‘Welcome\’ sign.

Music-1.5/2
Gameplay-1/2
Tileset-2/2
Animations-2/2 – I like the firework circles lots.
Bonus Points- 1 – Music + Tileset = This Level. What I\‘m saying is, the music and tiles go together.

Overall- 7.5.
Actually, I like it, +1 lol. But I meant that.
Overall+LikeIt Point= 8.5
Download Recommendation? Yes.

Just now I realised. +1 for the FANTASTIC eyecandy. It’s everywhere, and I love it. That makes it 9.5. Well done!

Introduction:
This is what happens when someone from the Sonic Adventure generation takes a stab at a Jazz Jackrabbit song.

Song Analysis:
The lyrics are pretty good and fairly well sung. The song itself is pretty much the same ol’ Turtemple theme, but with square waves and triangle waves instead of actual real samples.

Sample Analysis:
As mentioned, square and triangle waves were used most of the song. Some real-sounding drums, a “fly-by” sound from Star Control II, and a couple others sounds were thrown in for the Heck of it, apparently. Let me be the first to tell you. . .if you’re going to go with real lyrics, don’t use freaking square and triangle waves. Compose a beautiful piece of music, by hand, using some real samples. Okay? Okay.

Final Analysis:
Ya know. . . This would be an absolutely freaking awesome Sonic Adventure-style song. . .if you hadn’t used Famicom-style samples for the background music! You fail!! 3.2 out of 10.0!!! This is also an insult to Jazz Jackrabbit fans. As mentioned above, get yourself a real arrangement of Turtemple, then add the lyrics in. Once you do, I can almost gaurentee I will give you a very high score, depending on the quality of the arrangement. Your heart’s in the right place. Really. But focus on the music, not the lyrics. . .

I do not recommend this file for download on the grounds that, even though it has sung lyrics, the lyrics are meaningless with the quality of music behind it.

Introduction:
Turtemple as heard a’la polyphonic cell phone ringtone! . . .not really.

Song Analysis:
Repeatitive. Short. Not exactly sweet. Initially, the beeps sort of collide with one-another, but after listening to it for a loop or two, it sounds fine enough. Like I said, though. It’s very repeatitive. I. . .genuinely have no idea what Crusader was going for in making this file. It sounds like a Cracker intro theme now, actually. Like the sort of thing you’d find on an intro to pirated software or something. Not even a “chiptune,” really. Just. . . Beepy. Might make a good ringtone for someone’s cell phone. . .

Sample Analysis:
Beeps, heavy drums, and some low basslines. I think I also detect a sample or two from the original song, but I could be wrong. No real complaints here, other than the beeps hurt my head. Even on low volumes, they sort of blare. Kind of annoying.

Final Analysis:
This song is a good wake-up call and a better cell phone ringtone, but overall, I don’t know why this was uploaded. It’s alright. . .but it’s boring. That’s why I give it a 3.7 score, but also a Download Recommendation. Because it’s not very unique, but unique enough to give a listen.

Sorry, low rating! :) This pack is too.. how can i say??.. Well there are no eyecandy, no original ideas. Just shoot some bad guys by passing the areas with wrong backgrounding and find the exit. The levels were filled with bad guys everywhere that makes you cheat while playing.
So, the author has to pay attention to this.
I loved the tileset Castube. Good looking and may be usefull sometimes.

However 4.0 from me..

I just played through this level, and I have to so that while some parts were fairly enjoyable, others were simply too annoying or confusing. Two areas in particular that bothered me were the sort of “bind maze” area in the start, and then the area where it tells you to “input code” or whatever which didn’t make much sense at all.

Enemies are somewhat sparse, but so are carrots. Because of this the level is somewhat challenging. One problem though is a lack of save points, which means that if you want to avoid frustration you have to save a lot. I don’t really like to use the save feature in the middle of levels, but I found I was forced to here.

The level starts out quite atmospheric, with a nice look to it and lots of layer 3 everywhere. It really makes you feel closed in. Unfortunately, the entire level pretty much looks the same, and it is quite large. The tileset doesn’t offer much, but I’ve always thought that large levels should use more versatile tilesets.

Despite the drawbacks of this level, it does have its merits. The level doesn’t really make you feel like you are on any sort of contrived “path”. The level is still quite linear, but areas branch out enough to make it seem more natural. I also liked the music choise, becuase it successfuly transformed a hellish tileset into something that feels more cold and empty.

I’m giving this level a 7. It’s a decent effort, but the annoyances that can be found in it prevent me from rating it an 8.

This is long, intersting story. Level’s are good in medium size, but some are very simple like first, second, third end fourth. Others are more atractive and very playful, but there are not enought carrots!
Storyline is cool, because There are one cool person -> Green Puzzel Man!. I like this guy, because is very fuuny. Also Magic Cat is very ogrinal person, because I didn’t see any levels with storyline with him/it. But last battle with him/it can by more hard and more attractive…
And remember: USE BIG TEXT

I’m finally getting around to reviewing this level, something I said I’d do quite some time ago. Now that I have played in the level more, I have no excuse to not review this.

This is an all around good level, suitable for duels or 2vs2 ctf games. It has a fairly original feel due to the usage of pinball events, and is well balanced due to it being symmetrical.

The level is a little too skewed towards the top. Almost all of the good stuff is located there, and the only real reason to go to the rather large bottom area of the level is to get the +1 carrot. Even then, there is a full NRG that spawns at the top. You can also find gun9 at the bottom which can be used to get the RF powerup, but you can also get it with bouncers. This makes the level suffer from a bit of a battle 1 complex, in that it has a large area that doesn’t serve enough of a purpose. Perhaps this could be changed if the two carrots were swapped, so the full nrg spawned at the bottom.

The design of the level makes the gameplay fairly straightforward and fast paced. There aren’t very many places to go, and it is very easy to corner your opponent. For duels, I would say that it is perhaps a bit too easy to get cornered, since this creates a potential for standoffs. This wasn’t a major problem when I dueled here though.

The level requires a fair amount of skill to be good at. The carrot at the bottom is a bit tricky to get, and there are a few areas where somewhat difficult jumps and RF jumping are helpful. This lends a bit of complexity to the level, which it otherwise lacks.

The RF powerup in this level needs to be shot to get it. As stated earlier, you can get it with either gun9 or gun2. Unfortunately there didn’t seem to be enough “loose” rf ammo around the level, which was particularly annoying when I shot the powerup and only got 3 ammo from it.

One aspect of the level I particularly liked was the floor under the full NRG: it was covered in pinball bumpers. If the full NRG gets shot down, the only way to get it is to stomp. This takes time, and causes it to be a bit of a deathtrap. Fairly entertaining.

This level is fairly solid and well polished, and because of that I give it an 8.

  3. 419
  4. 420
  5. 421
