Alas! I was going to give this the rating it deserved, but then I saw the beautiful entreaty of “I am a female” and my heart was lost. Now I must give this a 10 so that she will go out with me! Because that’s what females do on J2O!
..er. Sorry. Please don’t incite sexism. I’m sexist enough already, and I’m sure other people don’t need the provocation either.
GRAPHIC QUALITY: This is one of those levels which tries to completely sail through the eyecandy category on the strength of a nice looking tileset. Sadly, you have to actually be able to use the tileset, and that factor is not readily apparent. There is very little deviation in the walls or background (layer 8 isn’t textured – this tileset supports textured mode, right? Mirrow, have you been making bad tilesets again?), and there’s not much else to speak of. No ground – the whole thing takes place in what I assume is supposed to be a castle. No background eyecandy. Essentially no layer 4 eyecandy except for Disguise’s head. Disguise is a great guy, but his head is not proper eyecandy for a level.
Pros: No glaring tile bugs.
Cons: Nothing beyond the basics, too much Disguise, a few layer 3 problems.
Rating: 3.7
LEVEL DESIGN: “Run to the right” is a good description of the design fo this level. It is not as bad as that Diamondus race level where you never have to press any keys besides run and right, but it’s pretty bad. I timed myself and beat the entire level (including the boss – been a while since I saw someone make Bilsy difficult… come on, people!) in less than thirty seconds, and I count too fast. This would automatically get a low mark, but it’s somewhat saved by the fact that the main time spent playing this level is spent finding the secrets. Admittedly the secrets are mostly layer 3 hidden holes in the floor, but there are still secrets, which is kind of interesting. I didn’t have nearly enough coins, for example, though I’m not positive there are actually so many coins in the level.
Pros: The secrets are a nice touch – keep that in mind for your next levels and they should become quite enjoyable.
Cons: Still too much of a straight line. Add some curves, corners, whatever strikes your fancy. Fun tricks like moving platforms. Spikes (the one place where there were spikes was cool, I’ll grant).
Rating: 5.0
GAMEPLAY/FUN FACTOR/REPLAY VALUE: It occurs to me a great deal of “Level Design” was actually spent describing the gameplay. Oh well. As I sort of said, the gameplay of this level in itself is not very enjoyable, it’s the many detours that make up the prime interest value. Obviously this is not done so well as it is in levels such as Tomb Rabbit – Central Cave, but that’s a very high standard in the first place. Sadly, despite the secrets, this level doesn’t really become a level you’d have any particular desire to play more than once, unless you’re an insane overrating J2O reviewer (naming NO names).
Pros: Did I mention the secrets? Yes, I did. Oops.
Cons: Just not very interesting.
Rating: 5.0
ORIGINALITY: I liked the part with the spikes. It’s not quite original, but it does look fairly professional (aside from the graphics, but that’s another story). Besides that, this level is pretty much dullsville. The only bit that interested me was the float ups – a few more spikes and a little more room and that could become somewhat interesting.
Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A
Rating: 3.5
EVENT PLACEMENT: There are way too many goodies. Coins, shields, ammo – you name it. There’s a secret at the start of the level containing some ammo which never shows up again in the level and you have no reason to use. There aren’t enough enemies to deserve the ammo, but I suppose that’s a good thing. Too many enemies can be a crippling point for a level. I saw no real event bugs – no destruct scenery on un-animated tiles or stuff like that.
Pros: Decent enemy placement.
Cons: Way too many goodies. Advice: study other levels, particularly the Formerly a Prince episode and anything by Chandie. Avoid anything by Blade or Willie in this regard.
Rating: 3.7
OVERALL (not an average): This is not a bad level, but it is below average. There appears to have been some sort of story to this level, in combination with another level(s?) that was not included in the .zip. Huh. Warn us next time.
Pros: Eyecandy’s not BAD, nor is most anything else.
Cons: Somewhat dull, over too soon.
Rating: 4.2
On a side note, I completely forgot you were a female while reviewing this. ANGST!

One sec, let me review the level…

Ok, review:
Layout:
Not bad, for your first try. 8 of 10.
Eyecandy:
You used lighting! Good for you. Though the background isn’t textured. Oh,well. 7 of 10.
Technical Quality:
Music is there, but the next level setting doesn’t work, because I don’t have the level. Oh, well. 7.5 of 10.
Hype:
Hype is the rating before I rated. There is no rating, so this is void.
Tilt:
Great level, for a newcomer. Try making battle levels. I think we see a new EvilMike here! 9 of 10.
8 + 7 + 7.5 + 9 = 31.5 / 4 = 7.875 = 7.7
Keep making levels! You can only get better!

This is great Acid Psy. It has really good eyecandy. The weapons placement is good. There is lots of room to move in.
This is execellent. I give this an 8.
(Unsupported rating removal. If it’s so good, why not give it a 10? There are obviously some flaws, but you don’t tell us at all what they are. Your description of things is sub-par at best – “good” doesn’t tell us anything. What about the actual gameplay? Is the level original at all? Just a few things to consider. ~Violet)[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]
If you’re one of the authors, than you really shouldn’t be rating it.
Eyecandy: i actually find it exceptionally nice! I didn’t really expect it to be like this… (ive never seen any of Cooba’s lvls, But here it rocks. good tile usage and great layer use and also nice animations! 9.0
Gameplay: Well, i think the gameplay actually is for 3 ppl, or more if u r patient with waiting for ammo. ;P oh well, the bottom is really interesting and there are coins which let u get a seeker PU i think, despite the fact this lvl dont have electro blasters (gun9) i can still get it with bouncers, i don’t really mind this but this lvl is only good for maxPickups: here is where i get a bit bad ;P, the pickups were placed nicely compared to some of my lvls and some others! this is a gr8 battle i have to say! pickups were placed nicely and it’s just that u could have put the bouncer pu, or is it there? oh well i think it needs one more PU… and some no fire zones. also i prefer lvls if they have food, oh well i still like this, could be better again, sorry cooba! 7.0
Overall, this is great in my opinion, other opinions may be different but this one is one i would luv to duel in!
Average: 8.0 Keep it up!

It´s actually his work, I sat next to him when he did this level…
I give it a 7 couse as you say, there´s almost no enemies AND, you didn´t make the tileset…
But you should have included me in the Other Authors place cuz I made some of it too!

(Rating removal. If you made some of the level, you shouldn’t rate it. -Trafton)[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]
actually,u dont like it :(
First Level:
Very fun ;D
I like the eye candy and design.
The flashing effect in level is very cool, and music selection is pretty good.
The high rate of the respawn on the carrots is actually a good thing in my opinion. It encourages more action packed.. (err whatever; P) combat.
And item placement is very nicesh, with some powerups for a nice touch
Level 2 omb:
Great eyecandy
Good design
like warpy things
(*gets tired oftyping)
Level 3 ;D:
My favorite level in pack probably.
Great design
brilliant eyecandy
Very phun ;D
Level 4:
This level isn’t bad
Probably one of my lessser favorites
I find the level hard to navigate in points which frustrates me alittle otherwise nicesh level with good eyecandy
Level 5:
I love this level :D
I like the rf feature in which u can destroy bits of the level , changing the overall design sheer originality which i love.
Level has grfeat eye candy and playability
Overall this pack is great with good music, and i also like how it can be team battle
A solid 9/10 from me ;D.
I can’t rate this, because it’s not your work. I didn’t even look in your level, because it is probably sux. Then again…
Looks in
Actually, this is not bad…
Not doing a review…
Download: Come for the tileset, stay for the torture known as the level!
Host: This is Single Player….so maybe…
-ThO
I’m just writing this because I’m trying to find a good tileset of yours to make a level with, and.. really. This background is so beautiful. Why didn’t you put more effort into the layer 4 tiles? =\
I think you need some more patience.
i cant say much but this is rally helpful!
Eyecandy:
Well, i whink this lvlpack probably extremly nice eyecndy, the only thing i dont like that it is the original eyecandy the other lvls in these tilesets use! also i think that the eyecandy can be a bit improved(9/10)
Gameplay:
Well, i have to say its not really a single player but it is fun and has good gameplay (fun and intersesting and well placed things). this is an actually xtremely nice storyline. also this is a pack that is worth a great look-at!! (10/10)
Pickups: Great placement and really good, (for all events i mean) but there arent really that much or none!
Overall: this is great! 9.5
i actually think this pack is better that vol2, read the other review there, if u wanna c! i would give this a 7.2
Please may I rate this:
EYECANDY: Hmmmmm, the good news is: You have eycandy.
The bad news is that there isn’t much.
ITEMS: There are carrots and ammo. You put in a bonus 40 warp witch I know you cannot have a Bunny standing by a thing with 40 on it (Bo Ho). You put dozens of Crates in there, loads are trigger crates.
ENEMIES: There are only about 15 enemies in the level.
RATING: 6.7
FUNOMETER: 5.8
FINAL COMMENT: Good and bad.
Well, since i was bored, and there was nothing to do, i decided to review this pack, and give it a long, long review. and i really mean long. i woudln’t be surprised if this review is my longest one. well, let me continue.
REVIEW of the Lost gemz, Volume II: Survivor:
Welcome to my review of this fantastic ground force pack by BlurredD, which is my favorite ground force, or survivor pack ever. all levels are really good, they have nice backgrounds, ( which isn’t really needed in ground force levels though. ) and very nice gameplay, and ammo placement. i like this pack alot, and thats probably why my review is so long. i don’t have more comments, but let me welcome you to my REAL REVIEW OF THIS PACK =)))
maybe ill update this review later, incase if i forgot to mention something..
Thermal scorch: Thermal scorch is very good level and it uses excellent 7th lava fall tileset by Dethman. in my opinion, tileset use was great, and there’s no tilebugs, and tile placement looks awesome. i can see 2 different lavafalls on the background, other one is big. ( 2 tiles wide ) and the other one is quite small. ( 1 tile )
There’s more background eyecandy too, like a steelish x-like things on the layer 6. i like the gameplay in this level. this level is very big, ( height )
and you start from the bottom. there’s lots of destructable tiles, all of them use tile number 59, ( im not sure if im right here ) Which looks quite dull. level would use different kind of destructive tiles. it would look better. i have no complaiments about ammo placement either. its very nice in my opinion. music fits to the level fine too.
System clogged: Yay, more cool-looking levels. System clogged uses mez’s MEZ03/04 tileset. (im not sure which)
and the tileset is overused, but author used it nicely in my opinion. background layers look nice, and no complaiments about them. ammo (mostly TNT) is placed nicely around the level, and i have no complaiments. 1337 placement. Gameplay is nice too. level is very big, i don’t know how much it takes to beat it, but my guess would be around 3-2 minutes. destructive tiles doesn’t look dull here, since you used some blue-uhm.. bubble like tile, which looks very good with silver metal blocks. music (Dh-glctc.s3m) fits nicely IMO.
Waste drain: i don’t have the tileset, or then i have the wrong version of the tileset. i got an access violation, so i can’t rate this level.
Heaven sent: Heaven sent uses agama’s outstanding Heaven tileset, which is used nicely in this level. i like the color where the background fades into. it gives a good atmosphere to this level. Destructable tiles won’t look dull, because author used ground tiles of heaven tileset. instead of dull look, they look really nice, (sorry for my bad grammar)and i really can’t find complaiments about this level. gameplay is nice too, this level isn’t too big or too small. good job, BlurredD. Ammo is placed nicely too, and i like the placement alot. no more comments / complaiments.
[Ill finish this review later, i promise. i must go now. ]
Yay, KiKuT. blank review.
Well.. if these are your first battle levels, why you uploaded them as single player? ;P
second of all, this level needs work. or something.
(Blank review rating removal. ~Violet)[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]
I get to review two Mez levels in a row. Life is good.
GAMEPLAY:
At least the level is symmetrical so at least I don’t have to complain about the balance. The routes from base to base aren’t good at all. Players would just run back and forth up and back and forth down. Nothing strategical about it. The layout is pretty empty—just a few springs and several other events. I wouldn’t know how anyone could enjoy a level like this. I can’t really complain about a layout that has nothing in it, so I’ll just leave it at that.
EYE CANDY:
Not particularly good, especially compared to all of the other levels I’ve seen using this tileset. At least there aren’t many tiling errors, but something more creative could’ve been done.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
The +1 carrots actually can be pretty useful here, since there aren’t any powerups. However, there barely is any ammo in this level. As for the little ammo that is there, it was poorly chosen. TNT and ice? How are those suppose to be useful? At least there’s toasters and bouncers, but it’s not enough for the entire level. The ammo needs to be distributed better. The pepper spray doesn’t regenerate by the way.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
No. Feel free to guess why. 5.5 is my rating.
The Edit: The new layout is a little better, although the flow needs some work. The ammo placement isn’t great, but at least there is some ammo. The one way events seem to have been placed in excess, and the carrots are oddly placed. I don’t like how far up the RF powerup was placed, either. Furthermore, the RF powerup doesn’t respawn, the ice ammo is nearly useless, and the start positions aren’t team based. In fact, red team wouldn’t even be able to join the game at all. Overall, the new version of this level is better, but not by much. 5.7 would’ve been my new rating, but it’s now a 4.5 because the bad start positions make this level unplayable.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
ugh… LOL!!! someone is using my freeking noobish tileset. And that tileset sucks but let me get on with this small review.
EYECANDY:
Bad!!! first of all this tileset is ugly so the level looks bad but still it could be better with this tileset like animations or using more different tiles in the level but you didn`t. The level also looks dull.
Pros: Uhm… there is a background.
Cons: Bad tileset bad eyecandy.
ENEMY PLACEMENT:
sucks!!! First of all there are no enemies but there are a lot of bosses. First of all there are too many bosses and how can i fight them on that small platform.
pros: There are bosses.
Cons: Too many bosses.
PICKUP PLACEMENT:
Bad!!! First of all never use that TNT powerup. Oke there is not much to tell at the start you get a lot of ammo before you attack those bosses.
Pros: Ammo.
Cons: Too many.
GAMEPLAY:
Bad!!! The only purpose of the level is the fighting against the bosses. That could be fun if there was a nice place to fight and not too many but here you are on a small platform where you also can fall off and fall out of the level bad.
Pros: nothing.
Cons: small bad boring.
OTHERS:
Bad!!! There is no music.
Final conclusion: This is really a bad level sorry.
Tip: Find betatester and read the forum carefully.
-Satan.
Well this is a bad level
no music
bad uses of the tile set
Tiles dont work here and there
Other Words THIS LEVEL IS BAD BAD BAD
ok next time when you make a level you look at others Work ok….
oh yea Forgot NO EYE CANDY !!
next time when you make a level look at some ones level that got a high rateing so you can see OK !!
