LEVEL IS BAD !!!!

BAD TILESET

Host you nuts it is 1p
This is yet another late review.
GAMEPLAY:
The flow isn’t horrendous, and the symmetrical layout means it’s balanced. But the layout is rather linear leaving limited room for strategy and it’s too simplistic to be fun everytime it’s played. The horizontal springs aren’t necessary; they only get in the way. As for the springs at the bottom middle, only the blue one is needed.
EYE CANDY:
The eye candy isn’t bad, but I don’t like it all too much. I wouldn’t advise using solid sprite layer tiles in the background too often. Blandness and possible confusion are the only two major problems though.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
I can’t say anything about the full energy carrot, but the +1 carrots and the two powerups should’ve been placed a little further from the bases. The small patches of ammo aren’t enough, and the events should probably respawn slower like at a speed of 20. Also, I don’t see any uses for the ice.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
No. While there isn’t anything that makes this level unplayble, it’s nothing that couldn’t be made in half an hour. I’m giving this a 6.7 just because.
This is another late review.
GAMEPLAY:
Here’s another symmetrical level. The base placement is certainly different from the last few levels I’ve reviewed. The flow is decent, but the layout needs a few extra routes for getting around the level. Not being able to move around fast enough would have to be the biggest problem. Everything else about this level is typical. I feel no need to go into details.
EYE CANDY:
The eye candy is a little original in places, like with the falling snow. I liked it for the most part, but I prefer the eye candy in a few other levels using the Inferno tileset.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
The only carrot, I believe, is in a pit at the bottom middle, which can also be a death trap on occasion. Powerup placement is good enough, with the three powerups placed far away from each other. This could be good or bad from time to time. Ammo is placed well enough, and that’s all I have to say.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Maybe host this a few times if bored. I can’t find anything horribly wrong with it. 7.5 is my rating.
This is a late review.
GAMEPLAY:
The layout is pretty generic. It isn’t bad or especially good. I might’ve liked it more if this level was a bit bigger. The flow is decent, except it depends on tubes a little too much. A few more springs should’ve been used instead of all of those tubes, especially when most of the tubes serve no purpose. The bridges aren’t particular useful, so I wouldn’t recommend using them as they were in this level. On a side note, avoid using horizontal springs since players stuck may occasionally get stuck in them.
EYE CANDY:
From what I could tell, the tileset was used well enough, although it’s a little confusing in the beginning. Too bad the textured background looks horrible in 8-bit. After playing the level for a bit, I found that the bright orange made it a bit harder to see a few things, which could be a problem.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
At the bottom middle there’s a full energy carrot, and at the top is a +1 carrot. So the placement of the carrots isn’t a big problem. The placement of the seeker powerup is fine since it is only accessible through a coin warp placed in the middle. I just didn’t like how the toaster powerup was placed; it felt like it was a little too far to the right. In regard to the ammo placement, I can’t say I hate it. However, I would prefer if so much of the ammo wasn’t placed on the ground.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
This level isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to host it more than once. 7.0 is my rating. And make sure to the loop the level to itself next time.
2 levels, one them is a bonus, other one is single p.
Both of them were poor. no eyecandy, no balance of goodies and baddies (in Diamondus level, goodies were more than baddies and it was boring. it also looks like a bonus level!
The music was good, and there was a blaster power up, that makes these levels good.
One more thing, try to build more interesting levels. There are two ordinary levels that you go, shoot, collect coins and find the exit warp. i think from now on everybody must build more unordinary levels:)[This review has been edited by chandie]
Floating fortress, who are rather a base, is a battle level using Wisety’s Spacey Universe tileset and Episodes as music (KILL.MOD).
Event Placement – 8
The event placement is good. The one way, springs and warps are almost perfectly placed, allowing players to almost fly through the level. I felt there was a little too much ammonation for such a small level, and the gameplay could’ve been adjusted to the better using only Bouncers, RF and Seekers, instead of also filling the map up with useless Electroblasters and Pepperspray (Not that the weapon itself is useless, but slow weapons are no use in such a level with constant movement).
Gameplay – 8
As mentioned previously, the pathin in the level is really great, allowing players to almost fly through the level without having to stop up because of narrow pathes or annoying chokepoints. The left and bottom side of the level is a little to importnant because of the powerup and warps. The level is peharps also a little to small, but I couldn’t tell without online testing.
Graphic – 7
The graphic is over all decent, no unique and some overlooked flaws. Besides the decoration at location at location 70×70, you won’t really find anything new in this level. Also I found the background very boring for a “FLOATING FORTRESS”.
Layout – 6
This was a little bit more disappointing, like the graphic. Even through it supports the gameplay in a good way, most of the layout is mirror and nothing special. Not more to say than a unique layout would’ve made the level more intersting.
Overall – 7.25 (7.2)
The level is not a special addition to the battle universe, but playable and could go be fun. The music suits the level well, in my opinion.
Host this often? If you don’t have a better level on mind, otherwise this may be worth it.
Download recommed? If you’re bored or feel like write a review, go ahead.
Hmm, it’s not a bad remix, but there aren’t too much things, just a pitch effect and some hit effects, but not bad. It’s better than the original I think, but the changes are too less for a good remix, it’s just a little edit, but no problem with it. I’ll give you 4 because the few changes…
1. Evilmike’s Evil Fortress
Awesome eyecandy but it’s because of tileset. Very good for full servers (16 players). It’s really big and placement is good too… It’s like all levels by Evilmike. 8.5
2. Abandoned Robotrics FactoryLot of locations of nothing, lot of place for good battles. But it is too big (too long ways to go back) for some serious wars. But yes, it’s awesome to make this more teamly battly… 7.7 (TB 8.5)
3.
I loved it always, I was good it always. I loved eyecandy always, I ENJOYED always. Yes, my biggest quote is from this level, from JDC pregame. I REALLY ENJOY!!! Best battle ever ever ever ever!!! 9.5
4. Cold Cavern
Eyecandy is not awesome, eyecandy is not cool. Eyecandy is only cold and nice. It’s dark, so you can concentrate to game… But I don’t like it much. It’s too empty, there are too many carrots and too many types of weapons. Not for AB but okay… really okay. 6.5
5. Decrepit Ruins
Oh… My favorite. Awesome eyecandy, awesome gameplay, awesome ammo placement. But not awesome sucker tubes and not awesome carrot placement. Althrough I love it and I give 9.
Overall
Evilmike hates me (LRK no)…
All levels are good, some are awesome. And those awesome are really awesome…
Good job snooz
Flow: there is no stoping no dead ends
Ammo: nice ammo Chos (cant spell it)
Power ups: petty nice but i dont like the seeker up

Down load YES
HOST yes !
THis is, in my opinion a fairly good level for a first timer.
I do not care for the tileset what so ever. All I care is what the level looks like, so I cant rate the tile set.
The level its self is very good. It has stayed close to the original. Although some spots have been cut out, I am hopeing that this can be fixed in an update, at which rate I will give it an higher rateing.- 7.5
Visuals are not bad for a first timer either, although most is just in a set positin. I am sure these will be fixed in a further release too. At least I am hopeing- 6.5
The music is some thing that dosent bother me because I usualy have any game music mute so I can play my own. BUt I will act as if I do care. To be honest, the music dosent bother me, and I have heard worse.-7
The layout of the level is rather a no brainer, because it has already been made by sonic team, but I do like how the wepons and ammunition is layed out. But it could be better.-7.4
All together, I think this level has some potential to be better than what it is now, and should be updated, at which point I will give it a better rating. Over all- 7.2

looks cool, or 1337.. or whatever. eyecandy here is r0x, and i have no more comments, you need to see yourself.
GAMEPLAY:

LEVEL 5: Dechapit Ruins
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
A very nice level, which has good eyecandy, layout and gameplay. my only complaint is music choice, i think it doesn’t fit with Agama’s “Heaven” tileset, but its author’s choice, so i won’t take points from that.
This level is very original too, along with the destruction concept or whatever it is called.

Very nice. i like it. one of the best heaven level’s ive seen. eyecandy here is very original too, and i like it. its absolutely worth of seeing, and hosting. ;)
GAMEPLAY:
Its bit too cramped in my opinion. level could be more open too. well, i can move around in this level, but the layout is still un-snooz-friendly. ;p
I prefer levels which are easy to navigate. or something. well, i think that the gameplay is ok.
PLACEMENT:
Nice. i like the placement here alot. there’s a shield too, you get it for 15 seconds, so it won’t ruin the gameplay. there’s also a seek pu, which made me rate higher. i can’t live without seekers.

and this was my longest Post ever !!!
Well, this level and tileset is certainly a mixed bag… Let’s take a look at the items by themselves.
The Tileset: Well, you certainly made an effort to connect tiles together… unfortunately it looks like you ripped out each 128×128 block wholesale and then cut out blank spaces. Eases level making, but gives WAY too many redundant tiles. Masking is good, but there were some masking problems. And would it be too much to ask to have those small propellers rotate?
The Level: Pretty good, though I’ve seen better. Putting the passages in from the original should’ve been easy, and does the event ‘One Way’ mean anything to you? at least you prepared for someone falling and had them teleport to a ‘safe spot’. One minor gripe I had is the part on the outside of the ship right before you hit the button to fight the boss wasn’t included.
The Music: Ouch, ouch, ouch… it was almost painful to listen to the music. It sounds like you opened a MIDI in ModPlug, and saved the result. Would it have killed you to loop it beforehand?
Despite these flaws, this isn’t the worst tileset I’ve seen, and it might see another use or two… Based on its merits alone, it gets a 2, but you get 4 for effort.
Green plant, please stop being an face. ;)
Rawk. I have a few MP3s that I’m probably going to upload when I get off my lazy arse. In any case, ruxulent song.
EDIT: Scratch last. I have to re-write the songs. Because I am tehsux. =D[This review has been edited by 4I Falcon]

CTF – Madmirrow
Well, another CTF level by Olsen. I feel that I like to write some reviews for levels again, so I don’t hesitate to create a nice review for this Mez (argh! Again!) CTF level by Olsen. Anyway, here’s my review.
EYECANDY: 1.75 out of 2.5
The level has a good start. The eyecandy is quite decent, especially the good backgrounds. I did not notice any errors in this level, not in the background, not in the foreground. The eye candy is further not really special, it looks a lot like the Mez level by SabaSpaz uploaded a few days ago (I wonder if the graphics in this level are copied from that level by the way…) Anyway, reasonable eye candy, keep up the good work.
AMMO: 0.5 out of 2.5
While the eyecandy was good, the ammo placement really sucks. About 5 types of ammo are placed in this level, in very small portions. Only Pepperspray, TNT, FastFire, Toast and Bouncie are placed around (just single pickups) and they are far from enough for a decent duel. The two best ammo kinds are not in the level, I mean Seeker and RF. And where the heck do you need TNT for? A really bad point is that there are no PU’s in the whole level, which sucks a lot. Two carrots are placed on both sides of the level, but they are not really necessary. Overall for ammo: bad, lousy weapon types, no powerups, unneeded carrots.
LEVEL STRUCTURE: 0.5 out of 2.0
The structure of this level reminded me a lot of a very bad CTF level that was uploaded a few months ago, a level with the Ice Heck tileset wherein you only could run around between the two bases, it took an hour to reach them, and there was only one boring way. This level is almost the same deal. Only one path leads form the first base two the second, fortunately splitted into two paths at the bottom, so there is a little diversity. In short words: this level is too boring and not funny to play.
GAMEPLAY: 0.75 out of 3.0
This level is simply not funny to play, and after I made it from the blue to the red base, I was bored enough to shut down the game. The only thing that makes the level still funny to play is the decent eyecandy, the other things just are bad. The level really doesn’t have a bad flow, but it’s just so boring and some places are a little hard to reach for Jazz users. About the music; I can’t say like it, but it’s not bad either.
RATINGS:
Another prove of a plan dthat doens;t work out. For another time: GOOD EYECANDY DOES NOT MAKE A GOOD LEVEL! And this especially goes for this level, which is really a cramp to play and boring. You still have a lot to learn as a level creator, but try to listen to ideas of reviewers and you might learn something ;) For now, a 3.5 is my final rating.
Score: 1.75+0.5+0.5+0.75 = 3.5

Host: No.

It’s been a while since I reviewed a CTF level. And first off, R3ptile, stop using a word with n**b in a bad way, because we all have been a n**b in level creating.
Introduction to MEZTAR: this is a CTF level created by SabaSpaz, which is symmetrical and uses the Mez01 tileset.
Gameplay: this is a level with an around average size. The level is very open, and it has horizontal springs which aren’t needed. There are alot of other springs, which are well placed, but nothing special. And also this time, there were no float-ups at 70,13 and 82,13. This prevents jumping, and it helps the flow a bit. The level’s layout is nothing spectacular, and the level is symmetrical. This is a good thing for your first CTF level, and that means the balance is always good. The level’s flow is average, but I can’t say I am fond of it. The level has some one way placed at the right places, that’s good. The level has warps, but I don’t know what to say about it, because I don’t know if they are needed. Other than that, the gameplay is average.
Conclusion of gameplay: this level’s gameplay is just average. Average spring placement, flow and layout. A symmetrical level, which is good for your first CTF one.
Eye candy/tileset use/layer use: this level’s eye candy isn’t that good. The level has some good backgrounds, but the stuff in the other layers isn’t too good. This tileset doesn’t have too many eye candy, but the level is very empty. A small level with this tileset is good to start with, or just use a tileset with alot of eye candy, which is easy to use. The tileset use isn’t too good in this case. The layer use is average, because it has backgrounds and something in the layers 3 and 5. There is no real eye candy in layer 4.
Conclusion of eye candy/tileset use/layer use: not so good, the level doesn’t have real eye candy in layer 4 and a few things in layer 3 and 5. The backgrounds are nice, though. The layer and tileset use is average.
Pickup placement: this level doesn’t have too many ammo, and the groups of ammo are 4 × 3 ammo. I can still remember this from SabaSpaz’s first level on J2o. The level has 4 power-ups, which is one too many. The level has some ice and tnt, but it isn’t much, so it’s okay. This level has one crate with 5 × 3 seeker ammo near each base, and the bases also have a carrot. This isn’t a good idea, but I can’t really explain why it isn’t. There is one way to enter each base, which means that you can camp there. There is a full energy in the middle of the level too, which is placed above the rf pu. The toast pu is at the right side, and the bouncy one is left. The seek pu is placed in the centre-bottom of the level, and you get 3 from this 4 pu with gun 9. The ammo is all placed in the air, and I like that. The level could be bigger if you want to keep the ammo placement this way or bigger groups of ammo which are spread. The pickup placement is again average, but could be better.
Conclusion pickup placement: this level has small groups of ammo, which aren’t good spread, 4 power-ups, 3 carrots, and two of that ones are 1 near each base.
Originality: this level uses an over-used tileset, and I already had the music used in this level. The way the tileset is used is nothing original, the level doesn’t have any original ideas, and the other things aren’t original too. I like this level music, though.
Conclusion originality: the level has no real original things, nice music and it uses an over-used tileset.
Playability: this level isn’t too fun to play because it’s so open. The level has no dead ends, which is a good thing. The horizontal springs ruin the playability in this level, and it’s also a biasing for Spaz. Spaz con double jump that way that you can go back up when you touched a horizontal spring. The way to the base isn’t a straight way, and I’m glad there is finally a level which doesn’t have that.
Conclusion playability: this level is very open, the horizontal springs are annoying, but the way to the base isn’t straight, which is good.
Others: this level has some slope errors, but that are the only bugs I found.
Conclusion level: this is just an average level, and I give it a 6.2.

I promised to review this, so here i am. Lets get started. anyway, i was busy, so this review may be short.
Well. this conversion impressed me. it has all the tiles from original exoticus, which was one of my favorite planets when i played jj1. author included some other nice tiles too, like self made blocks, vines, torch, some castle like tiles.. etc. One of the top jj2 conversion ever seen in my opinion.
Well. i like the masking here. its very smooth, and its nicely done. nothing is wrong with it. very nice.
There’s no missing tiles in my level, and the inventory here is very good, text signs, spikes, custom textured background, some sand tiles, which can be used as background, castle looking like tiles, sucker tubes, seelf made blocks.. and all other things like that. nothing is missing.
Palette is very good too. water works in 8-bit, or atleast i think it does. Carrotus/psych/jungle poles work too, but diam pole looks still weird. this doesn’t really matter though, because there’s no way i would use 3 different poles in my level. ;p
Overall, i really like this tileset or conversion, because it has really cool tiles, which can be used when building good levels. there’s no needed tiles missing in my opinion, and the quality of this tileset .. is perfect. im going to give this a nice 8.5 for the reasons i’ve mentioned.
