Wow, this is much better then Flag Rat :D
-Gameplay is smooth and fun all the way. I have found alot of ways people can develope SKILL in this level!
-Eyecandy is very unusual for this tileset. Like Acid said, I have never seen such a texured backround mixed with weird yet fun and odd acid balls floating around!
-Placement is very nice, especially carrots and the full NRG. Everything is so fair for each team, and the NRG is something both teams will for sure struggle to earn.
-The layout was ok, and using metal and stone of the tileset, it did not get boring :P

I loved this level and it is very fun and hard to get bored of. This is more of a 3v3, 4vs4 or public 6-maybe 7 people.

Eye candy:
This level has very interesting eyecandy, such as a textured background that I didn’t even know you could make in Labrat levels! There are also some floating typical Labrat beakers, and some vertical pipes. The ground is varied (At least as much as you can vary it with Labrat) enough to make it not boring. Some cons about the eyecandy are that the ground is a little choppy in areas, (But I guess that’s to be expected in Labrat levels) and the conveyor belt looks strange, especially since it doesn’t do anything. Overall, my eyecandy score is 8.5.
Gameplay:
I thought this level was pretty fun, with a nice big area to play around in, and the ground not so cluttered that you couldn’t do anything. Springs were mostly placed well, although there were a few ones that were unneeded and a few others that propelled you into a wall. The bases are nicely balanced, I think both sides have a good chance. Overall gameplay score from me is 8.0.
Placement:
I think that there were sometimes too many weapons in this level. I guess I am a hoarder kind of guy, but I often found massive piles of ammo that nobody picked up. The carrots were placed excellently, though: a few placed in obscure locations did just the trick. Overall placement rating from me is 7.0.
Overall: 7.8
I enjoyed this level a lot, and hope to see more of your levels soon! I reccomend anyone who decided to read this to download this level.
But is it quite good? One could only wonder.
GAMEPLAY:
This level is big, though it’s incredibly open and there aren’t that many alternate routes considering its size. It’s also symmetrical, with ordinary gameplay—nothing special at all. The tube near each base is rather useless, except for helping the flow a bit, but some other method should have been used. The tube would be a little more useful if it was a smidgen faster. Speaking of the flow, it’s good enough; I’m not going to point out all of the microscopic details that could be improved. I dislike the layout of the bottom left and right corners. It feels as if I should be able to take a tube to a base, but I can’t. There’s basically one lousy route to each base. Argh.
EYE CANDY:
The tileset is mostly used well, but there are some flaws here and there. The eye candy is a little dull in places, but it’s mostly average.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
Carrot placement is okay, but I would prefer if it wasn’t behind those tiles in the third layer. This level might be bigger than the previous ones, but the ammo distribution would work better in a smaller level. There should be some more ammo in a lot of places. Powerup placement is good enough as it is.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
I can’t say yes. Maybe once or twice if boredom strikes. Could be better, but it’s getting there. 7.0 is my final rating.
The Edit: I changed my mind. 7.2 is my new final rating. The level is better than what I originally gave it credit for.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
well thanx for pointing out my long list of mistakes but as i said earlier this is my first level and i wasnt expecting a fantastic rating.Oh and thanx for suggesting a beta tester blurredD. But the main thing should be doing is practicing with jcs and concentrating on weapon/carrot placement.

I hate when I’m forced to recreate my review from scratch. I should get started… again…
GAMEPLAY:
The layout is pretty much linear, which is pretty much something I don’t like to see. The gameplay is mostly players running back and forth from base to base. The balance and flow aren’t major problems, but they both could be better. I’m not too fond of the warps at the start; they seem kind of pointless. Overall, the layout isn’t incredibly bad, but it is incredibly dull and ordinary.
EYE CANDY:
The eye candy is alright, excluding the annoying textured background. I have no real complaints other than that.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
It looks like there’s just a +1 carrot on the left side near blue base and the full energy carrot in the coin warp. There should probably be another +1 carrot on the right side of the level, unless there already is one. In that case, it shouldn’t be so hard to find. And maybe all of those coins shouldn’t be hidden. The toaster and bouncer powerups are a bit too close to its nearby base. Ammo placement wasn’t planned too well; I can’t find a use for the TNT and the ice, and there are too many crates throughout the level.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Don’t. Needs work. 6.2=rating.
I cringed the moment I saw CTF/Battle. Not a wise idea to make levels like that. It’s either a battle level or a CTF level. Period.
GAMEPLAY:
1 minute of playing and I already wanted to close it. This level doesn’t seem to be resized at all. It would be wise to learn how to do this: for starters, right-click, go to Properties, and change the numbers next to Width and Height. For the CTF half, there’s basically no balance, no flow, no borders at the top, and absolutely nothing interesting in this level. The routes base to base are way too long and dull. The battle half hasn’t much to offer as well; just a few platforms with poorly placed events and vine tiles without vine events. There are some other things, but the basics need to be learned first. Probably wise to start with battle first then progress to CTF (I highly recommend this). Or, use this review for some CTF basics.
EYE CANDY:
It’s not good. A lot of the tiles were used improperly. I would point them out, but there are far too many. Try comparing this level to a good level with the same tileset (such as the official JJ2 single player levels that use the same set) and see how to use the Inferno tileset well.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
There’s that huge clump of full energy carrots and powerups to the right of the red base—not a good thing to do. Even distribution would have been a better idea. Not much ammo was placed on the CTF side. Ammo placement on the battle side needs work as well. Respawning events could regenerate a little slower, like around 20 or 25.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Not even once. Aside from my advice, a beta tester could help a whole lot. And use good beta testers (preferably ones who have made a lot of good levels already). 2.5, but try again.
oK… I wanted to play a good level with my 2 hours of the day but I guess not, but it isnt bad yet it isnt good.
-Eyecandy is pleasent, yet kind of boring and very plain.
-Gameplay is very simple. To simple if you ask me, it is all hills and a few tubes. This is good though.
-Placement is good, you can get the ammo anytime but at a point there isn’t enough of it.
-Tile use was good, and it all worked together :D
This is a good 7.2 and it could be a 7.8 if you could “ spice “ it up a little with eyecandy and gameplay.
Let’s check this one out. I like castles.
EYECANDY:
LOL! Ithought you were going to use the castle tileset. Aww well. The snow is nice, however it falls straight down and goes up when you jump. For the rest: Nothing wrong with the eyecandy. No wrong tiles, castles are good.
AMMO:
Well placed. It is correct, nothing less and nothing more to say about it.
LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Good. Maybe the level is something too big, and the castles are something to far placed from each other.
GAMEPLAY: (I replaced this for the BUGS part because that part was always the same):
Nice gameplay. It’s nice to wander around the castle, and to snipe out of the seeker holes.

EYECANDY:
Bad. Very bad. In fact, you can ask yourself the question: is there any eyecandy in this level? I would answer this question with a “no”. The only thing in this level that can be called eyecandy is the background, but the tiles are misplaced so it looks terrible. Next time, try to add some more layers to the level!
AMMO:
Not well placed. In the battle-part of the level it is quite reasonable, but in the CTF part it sucks. All ammo is sticked together in one spot, including 6(!) full carrots, which is far too much and unnecessary.
LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The idea of a battle and a CTF part is original, I must admit that, and it can be fun if you improve it some more. The structure of the level is sux: in CTF you have to run around 600 corridors before you are at the flag spot and in battle you have a sugar rush, which is weird.
BUGS & ERRORS:
Not found, probably the only good point about the level (or is that too hard?)

Well, I’m posting here my very first review on J20 ever! Let’s check out this level of old pal DS:
Level: The Dark Flag War
By: da man
EYECANDY:
Hmmm… Not bad, good tileset, the background layers are made nice and the sprite layer has correct tiles. The foreground layers are reasonable.
AMMO:
Good ammo placement, not too much not too less. Bad thing: when you start off you directly got the seek PU. Not nice in multiplayer!
LEVEL STRUCTURE:
The level is symmetric (nice!) but the two flag bases are in both upper corners of the level, so you can directly jump between them in a few seconds, without involving the rest of the level into the gameplay.
BUGS & ERRORS
I didn’t have any errors or bugs.

BAH! Time for review again :|
-GAMEPLAY
Just what NiQ says, you have only to run to come by the other castle…
-EYECANDY
Ev’rything i wanted to say, is all-ready sayed by NiQ! :)
You used the tileset like it must to be. The eyecandy is basic, and you putted on some places frozen grass, and big carrots. The castles are good to! Good…
-AMMO/ GOODIES/ CARROTS PLACEMENT
Hmm… There was in the lvl only a carrot in blue castle… Thats unfair!
Ammo is standard… Some place barrels, some places ammo. In the castles are also upgrades!
The coins for the warp, you must search for them, because they are placed on some spots in the wall! So secrets with coins…
-MUSIC/ TILESET
Nice music for this lvl, Ðx! Also is the tileset beautifull! Just True Rabbit Hotel, but then in WINTER-Stile!
-OVERALL
This is a nice CTF level. Some things are bit bad, but the most is very good!
RATING CONCLUSION: 7.2
HOST THIS : I think yes!

I dont understand Niels aka chippieBW. “The level is maybe to big, and the castle’s can be putted closer.”
OMG!! THIS IS NOT BIG, AND THE CASTLES MUST BE PUTTED FARTHER FROM EACH OTHER!
OMG OMG OMG!

Well, lets write a reveiw, since i have free time.
EYECANDY: basic. tileset use was standard.keep it going. there are somme eyecandy things in castles, and in outdoor ares, such as grass, whihc is a nice thing, so it won’t look so dull, ;p
GAMEPLAY:Average, you just have to run.. not really fun. just running. no more comments.
AMMO PLACEMENT:Heh. Standard placement. i like about it. keep it going. there is a full NRG too, but not in middle of level.
CONCLUSION:average/ok CTF level. keep it up.

There is no apparent ORDER for these levels. I happened to start from Medieval Skycrapers so I’ll start there.
MEDIEVAL SKYCRAPERS
Eyecandy: 9.5
The eyecandy is pwnage. The mountains in the background and some stuff that makes even low detail users enjoy the game. I like the “burning” atmosphere in the level. It feels like the level is on fire or in a volcano. Anyway, the eyecandy is pwnage. That’s all.
Gameplay: 8.7
Fly carrots. Many of levels don’t use these. There’s really two ways of going to the bases. One is the most obvious. Fly carrots. And you could always just go simply inside. Now, the gameplay.. the level isn’t sux. It’s fun to play at and pretty easy to navigate in.
Stuff placement: 6.0 – 0.25
Two +1 carrots, toaster powerup, bouncer powerup and a seeker powerup (-0.25). I liked the ammo placement of all except the seek powerup. It’s way too easy to get, and of course, seek powerup ruins JJ2 so there’s no real reason to use it. You can get the powerups with the TNT spawning nearby.
Originality: 8.7
Not many levels use a fly carrot. It’s the thing what really makes the level original. None of the levels I’ve met used the music I found.
Fun factor: 6.5
The seek powerup mostly ruins it all. Time to stop the review, people want me to skip.
OVERALL: 7.3 (-0.25)
ONE SPOT
The level’s idea is original. Go in the warp and then choose the base to raid.
Eyecandy: 7.5
This tileset used is ugly. I know it’s a JJ1 tileset but still I hate it. The tileset is actually used well but I hate the tileset so the eyecandy sux. You still don’t have any tiling errors, can’t see any.
Gameplay: 8.5
The idea is to go in a warp to choose which base to raid. It’s pretty fast to score and that’s what isn’t good. You really don’t need any of the powerups. Just be faster than the other player.
Originality: 10
The level is the first to use the idea for getting inside a warp to choose which flag to capture. Sadly, it doesn’t work well, but it is still an idea.
Fun factor: 7
Mostly when you score yourself, the other team manages to score before you capture their flag again.
Stuff placement: 8.5
The powerups are placed well, and you can get them easily. Most of it are just close to the warp and makes them easy to get.
OVERALL: 6.3
THE MELTING POINT
I have seen this level before. The first thing I saw that wide screen is added and seek powerup removed.
Eyecandy: 6.6
This is where the level falls to victim. The edges of the pipey things where the tileset maker has written “lag is deth” and stuff, the edges of them look ugly when compared to the other things of the level. They look dull. The bg layers are used and they rox. The dull parts of the levels, mostly up, suck.
Gameplay: 8.2
The thing is fine, sometimes the tubes what suck you in, may surprise if you don’t know about that yet. It’s bad for the people not familiar with the level. Anyway, the gameplay is fine and at least you don’t fall down to the tubes so often that you now added a platform with the pepper powerup.
Stuff placement: 7.1
Red has an advantage with the RFs and blue has just bouncies. The main powerup is a PEPPER SPRAY POWERUP. It doesn’t cause nothing but 1 damage, powered up or not. Weird idea to use a powerup like that.
Fun factor: 8.7
Although of the many downsides, the level IS fun to play. You can have a good fun with this level. GF HL or how was it.
OVERALL: 7.0
Battle level time.
NON-TYPICAL BATTLE
This level presents a jail ;/
EYECANDY: 8.8
The eyecandy is fine. I like it. This thing looks like you would be in a jail. Looks like that.
Gameplay: 5.6
The gameplay is good, but sometimes you keep hitting the warps accidentally. I keep doing that alltime. A shield, which you can’t obtain, is in here. ohhh… But the jail sucks. I hate jails. It was a stupid bad idea to put something like that there.
Stuff placement: 8.6 (-0.25)
Seek powerup strikes back. Sux0red by seek powerup. The level has only three powerups. A bouncie powerup, seek powerup(-0.25), pepperspray powerup, which doesn’t do more damage than one. The ammo is placed fine. I don’t see any probs in that.
Fun factor: 7.5
Isn’t fun to run away from seeks. Anyway, many people don’t even know where is a seek powerup. But it still ruins the game.
Originality: 8.5
Omg, BATTLE LEVEL WITH JAIL ;O. This sounds like a hotel. But it still isn’t. Go see this level. I hate the jail.
OVERALL: 6.5
PACK OVERALL: 7.7 (-1.0)
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Maybe.
[EDIT] I forgot to mention that when I skip level with Controller or when the score limit is reached, the level skips to itself, not the other levels in the pack. (-0.5)
(Borderline rating removal. Please do not rate multiplayer levels based on their next level settings; that is irrelevant to level quality. Additionally, consider being a bit less harsh, especially given that the other ratings are so much higher. -Trafton)[This review has been edited by Trafton AT]
