Lol R3ptile, your first review. Uhm, I’m reviewing a tileset for a long time, so let’s see what can I create for a such rating this time. And since there’s two tilesets, it would be hard to review them both. But because the 2nd one is just the same tileset with more tiles, I review this by it. :P

TILE AMOUNT / USEFULNESS
There’s not very much about them, even in the fu2. This is meant for hotels? Hotels sux? This looks like a tileset for beginners. Very simple. Since there’s not very much about tiles, some of them are a bit useful, I give a 4.

GRAPHICS / EYECANDY
I wonder were is the textured background which most of the tilesets should have, there’s anyway a cyan tile, which I think that might be the tile, meant for main background. Yuck, looks rather ugly. Otherwise it doesn’t look very fine. I don’t like cartoon tilesets. But it anyway deserves a 3.

TILE LINKING
There seems to be nothing like this. The tiles are rather simple squares(almost all of them.) But there’s also some strange stuff there. At least those tiles can be situated to almost anywhere.

ORIGINALITY
Since some of the tiles really look like some of the tileset “Wasteland” tiles. I believe that it’s not totally copied, but I mean imitated. You should try to create something new, k plz thx. And there’s stuff missing so you don’t deserve very high number about this.

ANIM TILES, SPIKES, ETC.
I just can see some coloured tiles, and tiles which have letters in them. I think this ain’t be a good idea for a sp-level or such for a CTF, etc. Just alot of important stuff missing.

-2 No readme, or other information about the tileset. Not even example level.

OVERALL: 15:6=2.5
TILESET RANK: Poor tileset
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Nope.
USE: No, it looks pretty useless, but I think that some beginner level-makers could use it to somekind of a strange level, I don’t recommend that anyways. As author recommended to use it to hotels, I think it’s a bad idea. Hotels sux? There’s not even such stuff for hotels in the tileset.

ENDING COMMENTS: Hmmm, the tileset wasn’t very good work. Your brother even helped to make it. I recommend to make some more complicated tilesets and which would have some use also than only hotels. Nothing else to add.

Eyecandy is basic, but looks good. However, you should use something different. Look for Blur’s “Green Vine Forest”. The rain is repetitive. And this blue spring which allows blue player to leave red zone is disguised by layer 3. And it looks UGLY.

Size – 256×64, which just 1/6 is used. Level is really for 4 players or more, or it’ll be B°ring. Events are placed average. Red Base looks like hanging in air. Ammo is scarce, but it’s enough for 4 players. Generally, average.
POINTS NO ADDED OR DELETED

Tileset – Agama’s Swamps Evening. Oh yep, Spazie has written about it. It’s not used very well, but it’s your 1ste level with it. But music… spews … yuck. I think that the “Hell freezes over” (freeze.j2b) should be here instead of this.. spews again

Ok, let me give a fun review.
Gameplay: Bad/Okay. It’s bad cause its hard to get around and there was a hidden spring. I saw dead ends and there was no border around the level, which means a flag bug.
Eye candy: Good. The eye candy is good, cause everyone who uses this tileset makes good eye candy. Its a small level and if it was bigger I’d give it good/very good.
Pickup placement: Bad/Okay. Sorry, this is also bad. There were a few carrot+1 instead of Full Energy. Thats bad. There was almost no ammo and there were no power-ups too. Also, two carrots were hidden in a wall and they were placed near the base. Also, one carrot was closer to the red base.
Others: The music doesnt fit the level. And: the red base was floating. LOL. Well, I dont know if this is your best level, And I cant wait for BlurredD his review. For now, I give a 5.2.
P.S. I think that I overrated. So I give it now a 4.7[This review has been edited by da man]

Well, another j2vf release. ;p
Lets reveiw, and, let me say that there is no much race levels, and this is probably my first race level reveiw.
anyway lets start.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Okay, level uses carrotus day tileset fairly well. there is eyecandy tiles, like those pumpkin plant things. anyway, there is tilebugs, and some parts i don’t like, like those hills in the start. But lets continue. and this upload is not too bad or something. ;p

EYECANDY:
Okay, there is mostly good eyecandy, like those hills in the start + those plants, what are near the starting place. they have tilebugs though, like the whole level. there is wrongly used tiles lot, but not too many. oh well, lets continue.
TILESET USE:
Okay, tileset was used rightly. no major complaiments. lets continue. ;p
GAMEPLAY:
Gameplay is good, there is easy to run, and there is obstacles,no more comments.
AMMO:
There is ice ammo, which is goodly placed. no more comments, since im bit too lazy to write more! =DD
CONCLUSION:
Level could use more eyecandy, and there should be no tilebugs.

First of all, I’m saddened you forgot to list me as a beta tester. >”“|. Now the review.

Gameplay
Gameplay in this level reminds me somewhat of EvilMike’s platform-hopping “SPACE LEVEL WITH ISLANDS.” Not only are the tilesets sort of both industrial-looking, but this level features lava towards the bottom and you must step accross stones to get to the other side. It is more easy than in EvilMike’s level, but this is the quickest way of getting accross and it is annoying to get seekered into it. This is, however, a good thing. It gives this level a nice dose of originality that it needs very much. The score would be a deal lower if it was not for this part of the level. There are a few other interesting points. It is the sort of level that obviously had a good deal of work put into understanding where players are going. While it does not make it very easy for the player to go through the level and the flow is not perfect, this is not necessarily a bad thing. “Perfect” flow would consist of the level making the user capture the flag themself. That wouldn’t make any sense. Rather, this level does a good job of balancing ability to move with the necessary obstructions to making the level interesting. You have to be careful on the lava, but otherwise the rest of the level is pretty fool-proof. It’s well done.
PROS: Well done. The lava, while not massively original, is still good.
CONS: There are not many routes between the flag bases. One extra one would be nice and add more dimension to the level, although it also might ruin it. That’s levelmaking for you.
RATING: 8.5

Tileset Use (Eyecandy)
There is nothing absolutely great about the eyecandy in this level. In fact, I was tempted to give it 7.7 if it were not that the lava at the bottom provides a good distraction from the rest of the level. It may be that I have seen far too many “Seventh Lava Fall” levels, but nonetheless I am beginning to find the eyecandy in most levels using this tileset a bit tedious. While this level does use the tileset strongly and has no easily visible tile bugs (I thought a quick sweep would be sufficient in this case), the top of the level simply is not that interesting. It’s standard 7thLF fare, with industrial bricks. Supposedly, the entire thing is supposed to look like a factory, but I don’t buy that. It is better suited to be a postapocolyptic industrial area abandoned than a factory. I cannot imagine that anything could be made here. Which brings me to another point. Why is it that there is not much creativity with 7thLF levels? There are plenty of things, like boxes, that could be used to make a decent-looking factory. I once made a test level simply to show that this could easily be done, and if I could do it, anyone could. Think conveyer belts. It’s sort of fun to watch. Still, this level offers good eyecandy, especially considering the tileset.
PROS: The lava looks nice. The lack of any questionable tiles is also commendable.
CONS: The top part of this level is not reall ythat exciting.
RATING: 8.0

Weapons
This level takes a fairly untraditional approach to distribution of powerups. All of the powerups in this level are in the wall and are only accessable using the electroblaster gun. Because of the fact that they take time to get, much of the game will usually revolve around the use of basic ammo. In CTF, this is not a bad idea, and this level is just big enough to pull it off. Had it been any smaller, it would be difficult to kill the opponent before they reached base. In this level, the lava provides a challenge of crossing and also forces the player to slow down and gives opportunity to kill an opponent. The placement of the basic ammo is also quite good. It is spread out in a fairly random manner, which does good for this level. There are no cheesy patterns that hurt the eyecandy.
PROS: Ammo, both basic form and powerup, is just sparce enough to make things interesting.
CONS: Some may consider it a bit too sparce, but I do not.
RATING: 8.0

Fun Factor
Originality is one of those categories in my reviews which sort of spill over into other categories, which is why I have no specific section for it. Much of originality ends up in this category, “fun factor.” In this case, this level is not exactly original, per se. Rather, it melds elements of other previous levels while still changing them enough that it keeps it fresh and exciting. The lava is similar to that seen in “SPACE LEVEL WITH ISLANDS” by EvilMike. The base-in-a-sucker-tube has been done plenty of times. And, of course, having powerups in the wall is not a novel concept. However, Blackraptor manages to put these all together in a way that neither feels stale, nor feels stolen. The level is fun, although not so amazingly new that it is that fun. However, a CTF level like this does not necessarily need to be fun, just good, and that is definitely what this is.
PROS: Enjoyable to play.
CONS: Not groundbreaking or anything.
RATING: 8.2

Overall
This level is a good CTF level with a twist. While it is nothing extremely new or anything, it nonetheless is enjoyable to play and probably will see a nice bit of hosting. Despite the eyecandy on the top of the level not being fabulous, it still remains that this is a far above average level worth playing. It is not a classic, but is not meant to be. It is aiming to be a fun Capture the Flag level that has some original elements, and it hits this mark exceptionally. This level is definitely worth a download and several plays and would make a welcome addition in any idle Capture the Flag server’s pack.
PROS: A very good level. The lava is fun. Fairly original.
CONS: The eyecandy on the top of the level could have been a bit more interesting.
RATING: 8.2
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Everyone will probably like this level, although CTF freaks will especially love it.

I hate to say that but this set is really bad. It is small and almost nothing tile togeather! There are no good graphics mostly looks like made in paint and other made by converting a gradient into a square block – blocks looks like ripped from Wasteland (made by Blade).Tile in position 10,3 is a bit to low placed. Oh and a BIG MINUS – the tileset is automasked – it not suppost to be – there are lot of stuff which have a “twirl” shapes. Tileset contains 200 tiles (most of it are empty -grrrrrrrr I hate that when tileset has so many empty tiles)

I read that you guys are expecting from us a little bit long reviews so here is a bit more ditailed review from me:

Tile in position 5,5 and 6,5 – Is a 2:1 grey block which looks like stolen from Wasteland
Tile in position 9,5 – it has a wierd effect – I think that it was made in PSP , but I also see that this person has no experiences with making graphics.
Tile in position 10,5 – The same one as last one only has some scratched space on top.
Tile in position 1,6 – heh I think taht this one is for a background – an empty tile colored with blue.
Tile in position 2,6 same as in possition 1,4 – don’t know why an author putted 2 times the same tile in his set.
Tile in position 3,6 – same only colored with blue
Tile in position 4,6 – same only colored with red
Tile in position 5,6 – same only colored with green
Tile in position 6,6 – same only colored with Brown
Tile in position 7,6 – same only colored with Dark brown
Tile in position 8,6 – looks that here author was inspired by Beach (I think made by Nick Stadler of Epic) some small slopes colored with yellow and added some brown pixels (in paint)
Tile in position 9,6 – Is this a grass – yes I guess so.
Tile in position 10,6 – A skulg ?
Tile in position 1, 7 2,7 and 3,7 are really bad looks like made in PSP – added some 3d effects – but these tiles are not tiles because they don’t tile together!!! – And they looks ugly
Tile in position 4,7 is an empty tile colored with yellow/orange color
Tile in position 5,7 is the same oonly added some brown pixels

Tiles in position 5,10 6,10 5,11 and 6,11 is some green slim (or maybe it suppost to be a mountain????-but I know for sure that this was drawn in Paint.
Tile in position 7,10 8,10 7,11 8,11 – Now this one is blue – mountain or slim or something else
Tiles in position 9,10 10,10 9,11 and 10,11 is a drawn in Paint RIP sign (looks like the author even didn’t put enough effort to draw that)
Tiles in position 1,12 2,12 1,13 and 2,13 is the same mountain or slim or what ever but this time is pink. Pink mountain -I don’t think so – so I’m assuming that this is a some kind of slim.
Tiles in position 3,12 4,12 5,12 6,12 7,12 8,12 9,12 10,12 ARE EMPTY !!! (grr)
Tile in position 3,13 – a small blue slim – this time a little bit darker like author would like to look this was a farest then the big ones and it suppost to be used as a background.
Tile in position 4,13 – A darker and smaller green slim (but wait a sec. Slims are not suppost to be used as a background stuff – so I am confused again and I donm’t know what it is!!!
Tile in position 5,13 – A darker pink something which looks like a mountain but it looks also as a slim but no body knows what is it exactelly. Maybe author knows.
Tiles in position 6,13 7,13 8,13 9,13 10,13 are empty!!!!
Tiles in position from 1,14 – 10, 20 are empty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinda don’t like that set.
And any way what does fu means???

And I don’t think that Its made Specialy for hotels, but you can do with it whatever you want. simple and has almost everything you actually need.

Is this your 1st tileset you guys???

If so try to practice a lot – I always say that to people who are new in making such a things :)

Ok, time to review.
Gameplay: Good. Its a small level, but the gameplay is good for a level of it’s size. There were coins and a coin warp too. The spring placement was good, its quite fun yes. There were too many MP starts, though.
Eye candy: Good. Its good, but not too many in this level. Some use in layer 5 and in 3 something and something in the sprite layer 4. Thats standard, which makes the eye candy good.
Pickup placement: Okay. It was not too spectacular, there were way too many power-ups and its a small level so thats something really unnecessary. The rest of the ammo was ok placed, and the coins too. There was some fast fire, that is good, but I think that four is too many for a level of this size. Also, there were too many carrots, which means, the pickup placement was good, but some pickups were overused, so that makes it okay.
Other: Host: No.
Download: No, not recommended.

let me give this a fair review.

Eyecandy:
Fine!!! The eyecandy is not bad at all the background has multiple layers and in those layers there are mountain (looks like mountains). There are also rocks on the foreground that falls down and those rocks are good animated. Too make the level look better there are also some other tiles used like those 2 turrerts by that bunker. I didn`t find any big tilesbugs but they are there look at the red base for excample there are 2 black/yellow pillars one is on layer 4 and one is on layer 3. The one on layer 3 is bad because if you stand there you can see jazzs or spazz feets in the ground and if you jump you see there heads. Another excample is that bunker you can also see jazz or spazz`s feets. The rest is fine but the eyecandy is a little bit basic though.

Placement:
Fine!!! Let`s just say that the ammo is a little bit unfair placed. Near thebleu base there are 2 powerups if you play for the red there is only one powerup close by. The ammo is good placed though but there could be more of a kind. There are 2 powerups Bouncers and Toaster. Carrots are good placed a 1 energy by each base.

Gameplay:
Medium!!! The level is a litte bit too linear so it`s hard for somebody too escape and to hide somewhere. The turrest are good you can take cover there and attack somebody. The bases are fair placed. I don`t really like those warps to go too the other base because you can go from side to side to easaly. This is not a level for 3 against 3 it`s mostly for 2vs2 or 1vs1 because the lvel is lenear and small.

Fine!!! The level is a little bit to small. The tileset is good chosen. Music is also good chosen. Should do a jazz and spazz levelstart though.

well. i start!

Eyecandy

The eyecandy… its good but ther to many eyecandy bugs. the warps with the arrows… ther bad placed you can see it very good.
but nice eyecandy. tree’s only sorry. one thing: Just labratkid told me before use layer 7 for mountains or something else ( look
at Wasted time or like that )
but the eyecandy is oke not bad at all.

Bugs

Many bugs much ground. YES jelze i will tell Sheez…

look at the ground some… just like at DA MAN levels… its not bad! its just practisch with level
making. nobody will make a GREAT episode for his first one.

Nice! Very good freeze and TNT ( TNT?!??!!?)
its better when you place TNT putt some Destruct senery’s! :P

Its quit based on spaz. you can jump very high to the

this battle rocks!

This is very big and bunch of fun. no bugs and nice eyecandy. ammo placed nice. this would be a good level for hosting. nobody reviewed accept me.. why?? because the name sucks?? NO! the coins placed is also very good and a great coin warp! good carrots placed and a BIG size just like waz told us. waz stopped jj2 in thats not great :’(!

but also the level is very good.!

Let me give this a review thank you.

Eyecandy:
Basic!!! Hmmm…. The background is bad only green leave`s and there are no extra layers used to make it look better. Those green leaves also looks kinda buggy but i don`t know if it is your foult. There are some things to make it look better like some flowers plants and grass and there are some different tiles used but there could be a lot more. Also i found a couple of tilebugs that really is annoying. Let me tell you where i found tilebugs By hell that orange background doesn`t end right it suddenly stops. And where that seeker powerup is hidden in the ground i can see a part of myself in the ground and where the seeker stands could look way better.

Placement:
Good: There is a lot of ammo and is good placed. There are a lot of powerups like, bouncers, seekers, Toaster, freezer and pepperspray. Pepperspray is not needed because a upgraded Pepperspray doesn`t do more damage on your opponent. Also i think there are too much powerups in this level. Also there are 3 1 energy carrots that is to much for this small level. Id it was a big battle level there could be 3 carrots but for this size of battle level it`s to much. The coins are goodly placed and on the right places. The things you get from the coin shop is really bad you get some ammo of seekers and toaster but there is already enough ammo in the level. Also you get a Bouncer powerup what isn`t really needed because there are already better powerups. The springs are good placed can`t complain about that.

Gameplay:
Medium!!! It`s quite fun to battle in this level but because of some mistakes and a really BIG mistake it is making this level a little bit unfun. Let`s start with the small mistakes in the gameplay. First of all there are a lot of dead end that`s okay but there are too much deadends. Also there are to much platforms the should be more bigger platforms because it`s not easy to run in the level i need to jump and stop a lot of time with running. There should be walls all around the level because if somebody is standy at the end of the level it`s hard for the other to hit him. The Big mistake is that the is a shop that isn`t needed first of all what you get is really not needed but you also don`t have to go in the shop to get the bouncers powerup because with the pepperspray you can shoot trough the wall and will hit the powerup so exually the coin shop is really unneeded. Also there are to many carrots in this level it`s almost inmpossible to kill somebody. There should be 1 carrot. Also don`t do hurt tiles in battle levels that`s bad.

Other:
Okay!!! it`s not a big level but i think it`s not to small. It doesn`t need to be smaller though. The music doesn`t really fit in the level. The tileset is not really good used but not really bad though.

This battle level is not bad but still not that good a ¤6.2¤

Well here is my review!!!

Eyecandy:
Bad!!! I really can say that it is ugly. It has a lot of climp plants thought but that is not good because you will let it end bad. The background is bad there are no extra things like a castle or waterfalls. Layer 1 2 3 are also not used. There are a lot of tilebugs and i mean a lot like a platform that doesn`t end right like carrots that doesn`t end right and there should be more trees and flowers. I didn`t even see a animation.

Ammo placement:
Okay!!! The ammo placement is not that bad as the eyecandy. There are freezers and tnt and that are the only weapons that you need in a race that`s good. There could be more ammo though. There is also a freezer powerup but i don`t think it is needed.

Gameplay:
not that good!!! The gameplay is not bad at all you have to do multiple obstacles and that`s good. Some of those obstacles are boring and weird like that carrots maze or something. Sometimes it`s also confusing where a warp is. I was falling and i hit a board with a arrow on it and i get warped back really confusing. Next thing about the warps there are to many warps if you complete a obstacle you get warped to the next obstacle. Those warps are sometimes on a weird place placed. There are some fun obstalces like jumping from platform to platfom but that`s pretty basic.

Other:
Normal!!! The race level is long but i think a little bit to long. I also think that the music doesn`t really fit with the carrotus tileset. The layout could be really better.

It`s not really good next time spend more time on a level and you will get a higher rating all i can give this level is a 4.2

Fist of all : IT IS NOT BEACH, BUT CARROTTUS. Blah Carrottus.

Eyecandy isn’t worst, but it’s bad though. The Carrottus 1 tileset maybe is a bit hard, but there’s a lot lot of a tilebugs. Use Layer 5 or 3. BG Textured. But no 7/6 layers used.

Hmm, this race is pretty long. Every lap is a long routes connected by warps.
I’ll write about all of ‘em :

I. Standard route with ups and downs, with a looong jump challenge, and with carrot field. Unfortunately, I’ve fall between two of them with Spaz and I’ve problem with getting out. But I finally escaped from there. If Spaz has a trouble with jumping, it means that Jazz can’t jump over it :P
II. A way down with warps teleporting to top of this falltrack.
III. Springy way with a TNT and many walls (bustable).
IV. Way downstairs with the same obstacles as in II, but ended with some poles, and pumpkins supposed to be a object on which player must lands when jumps.
V. The carrot maze.
VI. Long road with ammo and funny letters below.

Original. But after third lap slowly gets boring.
++1 point wins the race to this slot of review++

~~MISC.STUFF~~
Tileset use : Author used Carrottus even good, but the eyecandy is terrible.
Carrottus is OVERUSED.Don’t use overused tilesets.
Music : Fast Track (fastrack.j2b). Fits. But nothing new.
Biasing : With these moment with huge carrots, Spaz is biased.

Another level to review. Hooray.

GAMEPLAY:

The layout isn’t particularly interesting, but it isn’t a bad one. I can get around easily enough, but spring placement could be a lot better in places, such as with all six of the blue springs near the middle of the level. I never really liked the placement of a lot of tiles with one way events on top of one another mainly because players can stop halfway through. The stacks of one way tiles below the full energy carrot could possibly be used strategically (i.e. camping midway up this passageway), but that’s nearly suicide, since seekers can go through one ways, and players can only go up through them. The biggest problem of this level has to be the fact that when I’m close to the full energy carrot, I could take a nearby blue spring and just double jump towards a base while Jazz players will have to take a longer route. This level seems a bit too much on the Spaz-biased side.

EYE CANDY:

The eye candy is meant to be original, but it comes off as confusing and annoying. It’s not horrible, but I can’t say I like it. Over-Wasted should have been named Over-Used. I’m getting tired of seeing this tileset, and it has just about reached its limit.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

The full energy carrot and powerup placement don’t leave much use for the bottom half of this level most of the time. The only thing particularly useful at the bottom is the +1 carrot, although naturally, it wouldn’t be my first choice if I wanted a carrot. I would rather have the RF and bouncer powerups closer to the bottom, and perhaps the seeker powerup not so close to the full energy carrot. Ammo placement could also be better. I would say too many bouncers and RFs are placed at the top; some different ammo should have also been added. There’s also too much variety in ammo at the bottom middle and not enough variety at the bottom left and bottom right corners.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Nope. And the last level was better. 6.5 is my rating.
