This game is a bit strange, because you have to shoot at stupid Muppet-like things. The controls are easy, but the game doesn’t have levels or something and if you hold F and move the mouse you have a big spray of bullets, what makes it very very very easy (999999999999999999999 Points) You can make your shooting character (just an image) Jazz Jackrabbit, but I think that that doesn’t makes it Jazz-related. It’s fun anyway, so I suggest that you download it if you hate supid Muppet-like thingies.

@Stud: If your browser let’s you see this site, then you always like Jazz Jackrabbit.

Well, lets review!
You used a nice tileset for your lvl!
-Bugs
The bad thing is, there are NO start-places for Spaz and Jazz! That’s pretty bad, becouse if you’re playing a multiplay lvl with two people, you cant use codes for “jjfly” and “jjnowall”!
-Big/small
Hmm… It’s not big, but also not small! I think thats good enuf.
-placement
The ammo is just placed GREAT! Not too much and not few, just good! It’s ev’rywhere on the right places. Also, there is just ONE carrot in the whole lvl! That’s not much.
-Bases
The good thing is, that the bases on the right places are placed. It’s not from you come too blue base, and you’re in a second with a hop by red base.
-Overall
a nice lvl with right placed ammo and bases. Not too big, not too small. Not much too say, only that you get a 7.7 from me! Good work, Da Man!

Ah, it’s finally uploaded. I spent so much time beta testing it and at the end decided to be very cruel and pointed out bugs which you probably would’nt have noticed were there. Anyways, here goes:

Gameplay: The gameplay here pretty much rux. There is a lot of camping involved (especially at the top of that “Beam me up scotty” light in the center of the level, yes the one that you use to go up). I rarely found myself crashing into things, although I occasionally did. Anyways, its good.

Layout: The level is large, but it’s fairly easy to get to know. It looks symmetrical, and sometimes gets confusing (I sometimes got mixed up where the bases are and which way to the fountain, but that’s probably my fault). Scizor attempted to fix this by making all the flamingoes in that lake face towards the fountain, and by placing the moon glass windows on the blue side and the sun glass windows on the red, and by placing red butterflies on the red side and purple on the blue. But you probably won’t notice these things until someone tells you to look for them, or until you read this review, but still he tried. Other than that, the bases are placed at seperate top corners. To get up, you need to use the fountain placed in the center. It’ll beam you up to the top, and then you’ll go left or right to whichever base you choose to go to. It may sound like the bases are close to each other, but scizor made the doors close behind you as you approach each base, so you can’t grab the flag and quickly go the opposite way to the other one to score. I quite like the layout.

Eyecandy: In my opinion, I loved it. At first, some things looked weird, but after pointing out at least 10 eyecandy bugs (most which are very small and I was just being mean and pointing them out anyways) it looked a lot better. I really love the lighting events here, and it’s my favoritest thing in this level. Plus Scizor used all the layers, thats good. There is a great deal of original eyecandy here as well, and in conclusion I loved it.

Placement of Stuff: At first it was sparce, now there is more ammo. There are 3 powerups placed on floating platforms under the last pits on each side before the bases. Spaz needs to take the fountain up then go either left or right (left=toaster, right=RF) and fall through the pit to get them. Jazz just needs to take the fountain, and before he reaches the one way, swing right or left, and helicopter ear himself and land onto the platforms. Jazz biased? yes. But there are so few levels that are better for jazz these days, that I don’t mind. If you have a problem with this, then I suggest just to use jazz in this level. There is also a bouncer powerup, which is pretty easy to find (located top middle, right after you get thrown up by the fountain). The full energy is right in the middle, and a quick way to access it would also be through the fountain, but there is a chance you’ll miss it, which isnt good. The +1’s are at opposite sides in the suckers. You’d probably not have known this until someone would of told you or until you’d accidentally stumble onto it, since there is no way of telling they are there from looking at the suckers. In my opinion, they should of been more visible.

Overall: I really like this level, not only does it look good but it plays good as well. I had 2 2vs2’s here already and I found this level pretty good to duel in. The only nuisances/bugs are that you can easily get confused, once somehow I didn’t hit the ‘Set Light’ events when I started so the lighting was all gone for me, I’m not sure if this was a glitch in jj2 or in the level. The music also ruxed, except sometimes the tempo screwed up a bit, but then it somehow self-fixed itself.

Final Rating:
Gameplay: 8.2
Layout: 8.5
Eyecandy: 9.2
Placement of stuff: 8.
Overall: 8.7
Final rating = 8.52, rounded to an 8.5. Host this often. **** yeah. Download this? Unless you’d want to miss out on a great roxor level. Great Job, and keep up the good work, sct.

I tried something different with this review. Thus, QUICKEST REVIEW EVER.

GAMEPLAY:

Here’s a nice large level with a little originality. The balance is already taken care of with the semi-symmetrical layout. The flow is Jazz-friendly—maybe too Jazz-friendly—but it’s nothing that would make me feel the need to play as Jazz. The basic idea of the layout is that players use the fountain to be beamed up to the top of the level where they either go left or right to one of the bases. The top area is a little confusing at first, but it’s easy to get used to after a while. If this level was smaller, I wouldn’t like the layout, but it does work out as it is now. In fact, everything else works out, so I’ll just stop here.

EYE CANDY:

This level has the best eye candy with this tileset that I’ve ever seen. While it is rather laggy on my outdated computer (sometimes even with Hardware Acceleration on), and some of the eye candy may be confusing at first (e.g. vine tiles were used without the vine event), I’m not even going to consider marking the rating down for that since so much effort was put into this. The theme and the atmosphere is great, and the light beam in the center of the level is a nice touch.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

I can’t see anything horribly wrong about the carrot placement. There’s a full energy carrot in the center of the level. There are also a +1 carrot hidden on each side, although I would prefer if I could see them. Hidden carrots are okay, though, as long as they aren’t the main carrots (like the full energy carrot is in this level). As for ammo placement, I can’t complain about it. The ammo is distributed well, and it’s the same on each side, which adds to balance. Powerup placement is also good, with the toaster powerup on the left, the RF powerup on the right, and the bouncer powerup on the top middle. Some while ago when I was playing online, the RF powerup tended not to respawn, but hopefully that’s fixed by now. That’s all I have to say.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

A whole bunch of times. Please host this instead of the same old CTF levels and, of course, hotels. I give this an 8.2 so get hosting already.

PS: The tileset used ISN’T beach. Thank you.

The Edit: Now I can see the +1 carrots. Well, it’s not the biggest change, but it’s something. It’s not enough to make me change my rating, though, and I’ll probably use the same exact strategy as before.

Another Edit: This level tends to get a bit too laggy to play in no matter what the settings are. I like it, but the lag can sometimes be unbearable. There are probably too many events in the level. I’m revising my rating to an 8. Sorry about that.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]

So then don’t post a review then. I think that was clearly just for an extra post.

Anyway, here’s my review, I couldn’t access the other levels because they were passworded (Ugh… I wish people would stop doing this, passwording is almost completely pointless nowadays) and they wouldn’t show up in my home cooked levels list. Nethertheless, I’ll just review the first level (staff, if you don’t apply of me rating only the first level, don’t hesitate to change my review to N/A):

Project Hillmen

Eyecandy:
Basic… yet, I thought it was pretty effective. The tileset usage was good, no tilebugs spotted… but I didn’t like the background. Still, it was all around good.

Gameplay:
The level had pretty good level flow. Some dead ends here and there but I guess it wasn’t too bad. Confusing at some points (with the springs), too. But like I said, it’s good.

Weapon/Ammo Placement:
Good. Just what I would expect to see in a good, slightly above average level. Ammo is placed well, so I have no complaints.

Bugs:
None found, so no points were subtracted here.

Overall:
A little above average. I want to see the other levels though. :( Good job, anyway.

The Rating:
In my opinion, this level deserves a 7. It is a typical good level, but being TSF and all, I wouldn’t host it. I recommend you to download this though (maybe the other levels will work for you?).

Heh, this is the first review I have done in over a year. “Battle in the castle” is a battle level using the standard Epic castle tileset. Anyways, let’s get started on the review. Gameplay: This was definitely the aspect of the level I disliked the most. A few things bothered me, and one of which was how every spring was how almost every spring was put inside a hole. This bothered me for one reason, and that reason is because it ruins the gameplay. Having to stop, fiddle around with the left and right controls just to get inside the spring to get to the next platform is a huge mistake in any type of level. It may look better in some cases, but it’s definitely not worth it. Springs should always be made for easy access, and this was not the case. On the other hand, their actual placement was good for the mostpart. It got me to where I wanted to be, with the exception of a few un-needed springs. What I didn’t understand was this one area where you had to jump over two red springs to get to one area which could have been easily accessed by a green spring. When it comes to a level, springs being as convienant as possible is what you want. One other thing I noticed was that it had a few deadends in it. Although they were all supported by either a powerup or ammo, that doesn’t excuse the reason why they are there. Deadends are extremely annoying, and can always be averted by a sping, sucker tube, or a new direction to go besides where you left off. I also happened to notice that for the 10 coin warp, all you recieved were a few measly fast fire weapons. I do not think that having to run around looking for coins just for that is a very good idea. Something better, like a carrot should have been added and/or replaced in that area. On the other hand, it was good that you need 20 coins for the seeker powerup. Very appropriate. On the last note, I would like to point out that some parts of the level were way too flat, which made it boring to play after a while. Overall: The gameplay was good, despite some of the deadends and spring issues. It was relitively easy to move around in, with plenty of room. The level is.. kind of Jazz friendly, with the exception of what I mentioned earlier. Eyecandy: I didn’t really have any big issues with the eyecandy, here. I noticed very few mistakes, other than this one bridge that seemed to be held up with nothing but air. Other than that, I couldn’t find anything else. The eyecandy was not very original at all. It lacked anything different I have seen in other levels in the past using this tileset, and after a while it got rather boring. Try to add more curves, and ups and downs to your levels to make it not only look better, but more fun to the person(s) playing it. The backround was very good, but still unoriginal. Not every layer was used, to my disappointment. The more layers that are slabbed onto a level, the better it usually looks. But the layers that were used, were used relatively well, and that’s a good thing. Also, I would like to point out the good use of ambient lighting on the fire animations. Overall: Overall, the eyecandy was very good, yet unoriginal. Basically every tile was where it should have been, and most layers were used, and used well. Not too many issues with eyecandy. Weapons/Placement: I really couldn’t find anything wrong with the weapon placement, and most of the ammo was placed with nice decorative shapes and sizes. There was an almost perfect amount of ammo, but I thought there was a tad too much ice and TNT, and not enough seekers. Most of the ammo was easy to get to, whether it was Jazz or Spaz. I’m not sure if that amount of fast fire was good enough, and it should have been replaced and put elsewhere. As I said earlier, 10 coins for something as unused as that is kind of a ripoff. Other than that, no issues. Overall: Very good weapons/placement in the level, but a bit overdone with the ice and TNT. Basically everything was placed where it should be, and easy to get to with any character chosen. To sum things up, “Battle in the castle” is an above average, well made level that will have guaranteed fun for battlers everywhere. Overall, I give this level a 7.2. I recommend you download this level, and enjoy!

This is a must for ev’ry battle-lover!
-Eyecandy is great! It’s a beautiful lvl!
-Coins/Weapons placement is very nice. Ev’rything on the right places, not too much, not 2ammo on one place, no, nice! And the coins are great placed! You must search first for coins before you can jump in the warps! Also that’s good! TWO WARPS! That’s good, you can take for 10coins 6fastfire’s, or for 20coins 6time ammo4 WITH upgrade!
-Bugs is great! NO BUGS IN THE WHOLE LVL! I havent seen one bug.
-Gameplay is good. the springs are goods placed, blablabla…(just what Snooz was telling you…)

Overall
this is a great lvl to play with, nice placement and more! Nothing more too say. sorry…

Ok, I promised to give a review, I saw that this level is uploaded, so here I go.
Gameplay: Good/Very Good. Excellent gameplay, but there are places where you run in for some ammo and you need to go back. Thats a con but for the rest, excellent gameplay.
Eye candy: Good/Very Good. Very nice eye candy here, but there could be more in some places. But its well-done.
Pickup placement: Good/Very Good. It’s also nice, but there could be more ammo cause it is a big level. That coin warp was not too good, though. 6 Fast fire for 10 coins and 1 Seeker power-up and some Seeker ammo for 20. The rest of the ammo was nice placed.
Others:
Download: Yes.
Host: Yes. Maybe I will host it sometimes for Satan cause he can’t host.
Overall: Good/Very Good level. I give it also a 8. Nice work.

Good pack, but there are few points that makes the rating bad. There are:
In the first level, there are too much bananas together that makes sugar crush easier, and Lori can’t pass level 1, also there were tilebugs, especially in Diamondus. In the Carrotus level, while you turn into a frog, the you have to lost a few lives.
The worst thing was, the last Diamondus level was the change of the original Jazz2 level ‘Diam1.j2l’
The good points were; it was so long, end boss areas were not bad, and the mazes were good. Then this pack needs a 6.0!
