Well…It looks like your first level.
my 1st impression about this level was that I thought that this is somebody’s 1st level.

Background isn’t used correctly – that looks REALLY BAD!!! I can’t accept when people are using incorrectly such a simple to use tiles!!!

When I fall down (ofcourse on purpose to see what is placed there) I got stuck because there is nothing!!!!
In this place should be located some spikes or warp or maybe some secret passage full of goodies and food or whatever but not an empty space!!

Level is very short, level isn’t so bad – there are places located logically and even some parts of this level are nice.

Gameplay is a bit better then bad, there are no food or goodies , some places are empty and only somewhere are putted enemies.

You did lots of mistakes in your level, there are almost no eyecandy :(

It would be a 4.0 but because you used vulgar word I will give you 3.7

Come on guys and let’s not use vulgar words in here because very young children might be here and might downloading this stuff :)

I noticed many other bugs in this lvl from 3.7 -3.2

Y4y, another SP release, its time to review:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:okay, its a very short level, using caarotus tileset. Background is freaking ugly (no offence) and there are some tilebugs. Well, i have seen worse. but lets continue.

EYECANDY:
Hmm, there is not much eyecandy. Just basic tiles of carrotus, caves, some poles. That’s what i remember. Nothing awesome. And there are some tile bugs. Put more eyecandy on your levels. They will get better ratings.
PROS:Well, lets just say that there are worser levels. ;p
CONS: not much of eyecandy, only basic tiles.
RATING: 5/10

TILESET USE:
Okay, lets just say that tileset is rightly used. But, there are tile bugs. look at the background for a good example. Well, i think that this level has basic tileset use.. no more comments.
PROS: basic.
CONS:Tile bugs, pther annoying things.
RATING: 4.5/10

GAMEPLAY:
Well. Gameplay is ok.. but the level is too short. You just have to smash twwo trigger crates, and walk to the cave, soon, you will fall to small room, and you will encouter a schwartzen guard ( hopefully i spended that rgiht, ;p) and kill him. Make longer levels, they’re more fun to play. And gameplay is usually better on long levels. ;p
an ok gameplay, but it is still quite linear, and but could use work. by the way, when i played this and falled down, i noticed, that there were no instant death event in the bottom. the result is that jazz will just stay there, until you use an “JJFLY” code.
PROS:An ok gameplay..
CONS:Short, and linear
RATING: 4.7/5

PLACEMENT:
Okay. First of all, there are enemies, which are averagily placed, and there should be more of them, so level would be harder. ( it was too easy )
There are feew pickups, and there should be more of them too, ;p , so player would get sugar rush in your levels. Anyway, you shouldn’t overuse foods though. Food placement is fine.
Well, i saw no ammo, but level like this is beatable using just regular buttstomp. ;p
But, levels should have always some ammo.. so boss would be bit easier.
PROS:Well, atleast there are events.. ;p
CONS:no ammo, two pickups..
RATING 3/10

DIFFICULTY LEVEL:
Heh. Levels are way too easy. There should be much more enemies, so your levels would be more challenging. This was quite boring to play, since it was so easy ( after all )
PROS: hmm, atleast there is a boss.
CONS: Way too easy..
RATING: 2.7/10

ORIGINALITY:
Hmm, this level is quite original. Level used Epic carrotus set with carrotus music. Quite original. whatever.
PROS:well, quite original.. ;p
CONS:well,i cannot give a perfect score from originality.. ;p
RATING: 5.5/10

FUN FACTOR / REPLAY VALUE:
Hmm, this is extremely boring to play, and i wouldn’t play this again. If you’re really bored, and you want to see something new desperately then you should download this. Ofterwise you shouldn’t, since this is boring. no more comments.
PROS: N/A
CONS: N/A
RATING: N/A

CONCLUSION: .. quite bad, and boring level.. i cannot say more, you should make bigger levels, and put more eyecandy on them.. ;)
RANK: bad level
DOWNLOAD RECOMMEDATIO: no..
RATING:4.5

And now, my interpretation…

Prison Sewer CTF

GAMEPLAY: Mostly balanced but a dull layout and a bit too Spaz-biased.
EYE CANDY: Basic but a little annoying.
CARROT PLACEMENT: Full energy carrot placed well. +1 carrots are questionable.
AMMO PLACEMENT: Can work, but could be better.
HOST THIS OFTEN? Maybe once (with the music off).

Genocide City

GAMEPLAY: Same as above, except with blocks instead of hooks near the carrot. Somewhat better this way.
EYE CANDY: Better eye candy than previous, although it’s more confusing/annoying and misuses some tiles.
CARROT PLACEMENT: Same as above.
AMMO PLACEMENT: Same as above.
HOST THIS OFTEN? Maybe twice.

Overall review: These two levels aren’t bad, aside from erroneous/dull eye candy and a questionable layout. What I disliked the most was the eye candy in the foreground, which isn’t really needed and just gets in the way. I might like the carrots more if they didn’t have to be accessed through such a narrow opening, but this arrangement does have its strategic points. Similar applies to base placement; I just don’t recommend using one-tile passageways too often. There also isn’t too much to these levels. I could imagine how long they took to make. And I probably wouldn’t want to play in this level as Jazz, although I can’t really speak for players who use Jazz. Another thing: the start positions need work. Using well-placed “Multiplayer Level Start” events for each team would be a good idea. As for my rating, this is about a 7. I’m feeling nice today.

PS: Does anyone else find the Prison Sewer CTF music incredibly annoying? The music literally hurt my ears.

Oh, another NOKA’s conversion. It looks like I forgot to write a review for TUbelectric one, but now it’s too late, so just don’t mind and let me continue. Hey, what are you doing with this cursor… DON’T TOUCH THE BACK BUTTON BEFORE YOU FINISH READING! Hey, don’t get so nervous… OK, please, now, can I go on?
OK, so we have all the tiles here. I think so, because I haven’t played the 4th JJ1 episode too often (for some odd reason, I don’t especially like it… 3rd is the best, guess why :P), but I must say that everything I remember is here. The eyecandy is somewhat improved, because those skulls look much like JJ2. We have even more additional tiles, like palms, pole (which doesn’t work too much though) and more stuff I forgot about. There’s also everything for the events: hooks, vines, sucker tubes… but the tubes don’t look much like tubes at all. They could have been made from two parts. The one in layer 3 would be in a shape of “(“, and the one in layer 4 would be in a shape of “)”, so we could get good ribs.
Once again NOKA has used the “Now Approaching” screenie. It looks like he used my hint and inserted some green stars, which look quite good. Too bad they aren’t animated, but if they were, that would be a problem for the JJ2 (or not, since there aren’t many animations in Turtemple). Anyway, I think NOKA still tries to experiment with it and so we have new features in each of his conversions.
The colors look good. I think that nothing changed. It looks like NOKA used the Jazz2 palette, since the sprite colors change in the other versions of the tileset. New Turtemple looks the best of all the switched ones, and Turtemple Weird is… weird (wow, unexpectable, isn’t it?!). I don’t think that the edited versions will be popular. I still think that your best edit was the Ceramicus one.
Like always NOKA gives us a good conversion. But it looks like he spends less time with the following new ones. Diamondus, Ceramicus – when I saw them, I knew you really worked hard on them. This is a good conversion, but it could’ve been much better, if you only let some more time for yourself to think of something new you could use in it. I wish that your next conversion will stun me at the first glimpse. I believe it’s possible (don’t worry, you won’t have to pay for the recovery ;)).
OK, I’m done, you can leave… If you want to. Or wait. Did you download it? Download it! Now! Do not dare to leave without checking this out!

Yay, an SP pack. Time to review:

Level 1: the final test: Argh, another carrotus level. It doesn’t seem to extraordinary or anything, and its basically an average level. I didn’t like some things here, and I found some eyecandy like around 32,11 confusing; eyecandy like this is hard to tell if its solid or not (there is more eyecandy like this through the level). The blackbound cave is evil. Anyways, i didn’t find this level to be spectacular or anything, and it kinda downgraded my thoughts for the entire pack because of its averageness. It could of been better, since it looks really dull.

Level 2: The final test (a continuation of the first level)
Again the evil cave, there could of been some flicker lights or steady lights placed there since its hard to see, but it’s alright and I can’t really take any marks off for it since it doesn’t quite reach the point where it would get that dark that I’d have to turn ambient lighting off or stuff. The rest of the level seems average, nothing spectacular.

Level 3: Attacking the fortress

A medivo level. There is more eyecandy here than the two previous levels, but that doesnt mean I like it more. Layer 4 stuff are used in layer 5 and again it gets hard to tell whats solid and whats not. The BG sucks (no offence). The level isn’t too long, and its fairly easy. I don’t like this level any better than the last two.

Level 4: Castle of Unlimitness

Argh, more darkness. Starts off as a maze, then you fight a schwartzenguard boss. Too short, too dark, and I hate the music. So far, I like this level least.

Level 5: Castle of unlimitness (continuation)
At first it looked extrememly spaz biased because jazz couldnt jump to the roof to get the airboard, but then I found the sucker tube. Anyways, you fly to the next tower, go down and to the exit through the maze. Fun? Not really. Same evil music.

Level 6: Evening rescue
This level looks more promising then the last few. Eyecandy is a bit better. Bridges look ugly, still a bit short and confusing, and Im not too fond of the clumps of enemies. Plus there’s that same darkness again, but even darker.

Level 7: Finding Eva.
Using a mez tileset, there are loads of eyecandy bugs here, and solid tiles used in layer 5 again. The BG isn’t any better than the one in medivo. There is a puzzle here, but it’s very simple.

Level 8: Escape.
Easy. All you have to do is run through the level and you can beat it in under 15 seconds.

Level 9: The underground tunnel
I have no idea what the heck I was suppose to do in the level so I skipped it.

Anyways, I don’t feel like writing a descriptive review on the rest of the levels, but they’re either average or below. To summarize my review:

Pros: There is a storyline, and there are a lot of levels

Cons: Eyecandy is bad, some levels are confusing, and it wasn’t really fun for me to play (I got bored at around the 10th or 11th level and just used jjnext to view the rest of the levels briefly).

Gameplay: Perhaps, it was alright except the large enemy clumps.
7/10

Eyecandy: There was eyecandy, but I just didn’t like it, too confusing, too few. Maybe I just played levels like The Episode or NIP too much that my eyecandy standards have gone too high. But it improved a bit in the last few levels, so 7/10 instead of 6/10
7/10

Placement of stuff: It wasn’t as bad as it could of been, but it wasnt shocking either
7/10.

Fun Factor: I didn’t find this really fun to play, and sadly to say I got too bored around the 11th level that I just used jjnext every time I got bored from that point on.
4/10

Originality: There were some new things, but there werent many. since its hard to come up with lots of original things in a 25-level pack I’ll leave this out.

OVERALL: It would of been 6.2, but Im being nice and giving this a 7.2. My opinion differs from the rest of yours so don’t start yelling at me that I rated this unfairly or anything. Some of the levels here (like the ones at the end) were above average, but they just dont make up for the large amount of levels that were below average. Maybe later I’ll up my rating of this a bit, but for now, 7.2.

WOW!!!!!!!
This episode is really good, well it’s one of the best, there are 25 lvls but some of theme are really short.
EYECANDY: Wow! Every level has lots of eyecandy in it.(like said Snooz)Very nice putted stuff, I liked some levels where eyecandy were confusing me all the time – it makes level much more interesting.
I didn’t really like the Underground tileset , but now where I saw this really interesting level which were using this tileset I was amazed that this is really this tileset, after a while I started to like this tileset -(thanks to this nice level)

TILESET USE:
One word : GREAT

great use of tilesets -well maybe I didn’t like the backgrounds of some levels for example the one which uses Medivo tileset, the background there is kind of odd.

GAMEPLAY:Yes, I think this is the best think about this episode pack. I really enjoyed playing this (Iwasn’t bored – and usually I am when I am playing other levels)

Placement:Good, lot’s of enemies not too much carrots -at least in medium version.

Total it will be 8.8 (I don’t show my calculations and the rating for each point but for TILESET USE would be 9.5)

Total is 8.8 so it will be 8.7 :)

Do more episode packs!
And I liked very much that this pack is using lots of custom tilesets so I will add .2 points so it gives 9.
Yes I like when people are using NOT overused tilesets!!!

I will basically review these as one since they are both so similar in their eyecandy, gameplay, and ammo placement.
The Heck Hole
Eyecandy – Good / Very good
Very nice. Plenty of stuff in the foreground, two background layers, and nice eyecandy in layer 4. For a first timer (or atleast you appear to be as I don’t see any other levels by you), you did great using arguably the hardest default tileset. (of the 1.23 ones, that is).
Gameplay – Okay / Good
Spaz biasing with asdsaddas. =( This is Spaz biased to the point where even Scizor CT would exit the level, switch to Spaz, and come back. As for the gameplay, the gameplay is rather fun. Too bad the flow and layout are rather poor.
Ammo placement – Good
A shield! Boooo! But, wait! The shield is strategically placed in a coin warp! I think it’s good that people are expanding their levels to the point where shields are available, although I think it’s still rather dumb to put one out in the open like in Battle 1. Back to the shield in this level, I think you should’ve made it so you only get 15 seconds of shield time by forcing you to have to stomp the shield. As for the rest of the ammo, not bad at all. There aren’t very many powerups, but the ones that are there are well placed.
Overall: Good
What the Heck?
Copying Earthworm Jim level names, I see? =P
Eyecandy – Good / Very good
My review for the eyecandy of the Heck Hole stands for this one.
Gameplay – Okay / Good
My review for the gameplay of the Heck Hole stands for this one. The Spaz biasing is even WORSE here! =(
Ammo placement – Good
My review for the ammo placement of the Heck Hole stands for this one.

Overall: Good
Download recommendation: Sure
Host this often: Probably not. This is TSF.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

Earthworm Jim is a game, indeed. The level, “What the Heck?” actually greatly inspired the Inferno tilesets in JJ2. They look very, very similar.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

One thing which I forgot about the description: The episode is meant to experienced players. Even you would take Easy-mode, it would still be hard. Yes, there is difficulty settings and when you choose Hard, the amount of enemies is about double. There’s a bit more carrots and pickups, etc in easy. You have to be also that good player than the person in the story is. If you are an elite-SK, then you have to deal with it, or how is it explained. So I put some flocks of enemies into some places and I have given enough guns to beat em, though. It’s not only meant to use other guns, you also have to use Blaster a lot. I also recommend you to save some of the guns to access some secrets.

Yeah, and here are answers for all raters. If I don’t have any answers or comments about ratings, then I just put “Thanks for reviewing!”:

Snooz: Good, you fixed it. Thanks for reviewing!

dx dc: I think that sp-levels aren’t hosted very often. Eh? Co-op? Well, I don’t think that it would be very nice idea, and remember also that agreeing almost everything with another reviewer isn’t making a review or a rating properly.

Wadledee: Thanks for notice! I found out the problem. I just had forgotten to put also Castle2 Eclipse-tileset to the pack. Now I recommend you to re-download this, so you will get that tileset also with the episode.

NOKA: Thanks for reviewing!

Blackraptor: No. I wasn’t shocked very much of your rating and I don’t say that it’s unfair review, and that you even would have originally given me 6.2. Maybe the taste or style of my level-pack wasn’t interesting you. And you said that many things were evil. Doh, some people just don’t like evil and darkness. Well, my point isn’t making evil-levels but this was just because the storyline, you know. Hmmm, then I wondered about the eyecandy-thing. I really think that your eyecandy standards have gone some high. Did you really check out all the levels properly? …I really forced on the last levels more as I was more interested to finish it and put some special eyecandy. I know that it might suck in the first levels. Especially in “Attacking the fortress”, but I did so much work on the last levels, that the eyecandy on first ones shouldn’t decrease it so much. Well, everyone has his/her own opinions. Whatever, thanks for reviewing anyways, dude.

partybunny: I think you are overrating my level. I don’t like that my levels are overrated, it’s a shame. Especially when you have so less reasons to tell, why do you give me a 10. Just saying that it’s not too hard not too easy. I think you even didn’t play it at all further than the level 1, or the “final test”, to be said better. Because at least some others said that it was even a bit too hard and I think you wouldn’t be an elite then. Well, do not rate the level just by the first level, k thx.

BloodRabbit: Thanks for the note. I put the credits-tileset to the pack also and re-uploaded it, but I can’t put there that Christmas-tileset, because the file would be too big and the site couldn’t find it. You have to get that Xmas1-tileset separately from somewhere else. I think that tileset would be the most less important, which quite many should have.

chandie: Hey! C’mon, platform-jump games have this kind of “One-hit K.Os.” Have you ever played mario? Do you remember that when he falls to lava, he dies instantly. Erm, he dies otherwise too. :P
But what is a platform-jumping game without these kind of things? Well, seems that you never liked mario also then. Thanks for reviewing also.

sabaspaz: Thanks for reviewing. I anyways would have wished for more details but, that’s just ok anyways. :/

Alicia: Uh, so you are a finn also? Nice. If you want, you can freely rate this any time.

MazeMan: You’re my friend, so I thought that you wouldn’t rate my level because of that, like I don’t rate yours, but I allow you to do that in some case then. But if you made one, then you should have put a lot of more details and comments. I think that some admin will soon remove the rating-number from your review with that amount of details. And seems that you’ve just started to review some levels again, after a long pause from being using j2o.

Alexander BG: I wish you would have put your review in other style, but that’s just ok also. Hmm, so you think my episode is perfect? I think it’s a bit overrated, but as you gave at least enough details, I would like to thank you also for dueling. I really want to know the reason why does my level get 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, etc. Always.. ;)

Once more, thanks for everyone who reviewed. :][This review has been edited by Superjazz]

NOKA, second rule of beta testing: don’t only show it to your testers once. Chances are quite high your bug fixes will create new bugs, or there might be problems that weren’t noticed the first time around. I mean, really. This is just about as buggy as Tubelectric, which is saying something.

TILES INCLUDED: At first glance, this is a perfect conversion. It’s not unless you actually like Turtemple that things start to get really annoying, as this is missing way too much stuff. The sand is barely usable (you’ll have to stick it on the bottom of the level or something), half the flowing red stuff is missing, and the “what are you doing up here” is a hastily thrown together rip by NOKA (instead of actually converting the real one). Instead of taking the time and tiles to add things, NOKA wastes space with random things taken from J1CS which don’t seem to have much to do with the tileset, added tiles which don’t always work, and an enormous “now approaching Turtemple” sign which I think we could all do without.
On closer observation, you may notice that several of the original tiles are actually fakes created by NOKA out of various other tiles. This almost works, but not quite, as they use the background. Inside the unmasked bricks area, you see the orange rocky ground – on top of brick background. This is wrong. It’s supposed to be on top of the double block tiles (interestingly, there Are other tiles on top of double blocks, despite there not being a blank double block anywhere in the tileset). I’m not really sure what to make of the pipe background from JJ1, as it doesn’t actually seem to be from JJ1 (the original was Much longer).
While there are way too many problems (fortunately some have been fixed since the beta testing stage), for the most part, Turtemple is available in this (series of, plural) .j2t file. Unless you’re a purist and/or perfectionist, in which case this is severely flawed.
Pros: Almost everything exists.
Cons: Missing tiles, poorly reconstructed tiles.
Rating: 7.7

COLOR: NOKA has not yet gotten the hang of making a proper palette. Everything from Turtemple looks fine (at least in the normal version…), but there is not a single working palette event in the entire tileset (…except water). This is particularly brought to light by the fact the author tries to give you the jungle pole to use… ouch. One or two palette events missing is quite understandable, but please, at least the 500 bumper (appropiate, as Turtemple seems to be a tileset best suited for races). As for the palette change versions, I’ll talk about them later.
Pros: Most things work.
Cons: Nothing else works. Oh, and the “now approaching” fails to look good. Again.
Rating: 8.5

ADDED TILES: In place of getting all the real stuff, NOKA has thrown out small pieces in order to add lots of new stuff. And the new stuff is really rather cool. The vine and sucker tube look great, the trees are all believable (some of them were even sort of in the original tileset), the blocks fit in well, etc. This is one of the best parts of this tileset, as the new stuff really help Turtemple be Turtemple, if that’s possible.
Pros: Everything looks great. Especially the sucker tubes.
Cons: …oh right, the complaints. Well, the trees have some serious anti-aliasing difficulties, and the included jungle pole tiles don’t work (color wise). The sucker tubes might be better with something behind you as well, so it looks more like a tube.
Rating: 8.7

ANIMATION: Turtemple is an extremely unanimated tileset. About the only animation is the red flowing stuff. Admittedly half of that was left out, but the half that got included was carried out very well, with lots of stuff being able to go atop it. No complaints here.
Rating: 9.5

MASKING: Masking is also mostly good. Everything is smooth (with the exception of part of the sand slopes, but they manage to work just fine anyway), and I see no little dot bugs. There are one or two problems, though.
Pros: Masking mostly logical.
Cons: Masking the balls as balls might be able to get you stuck, transition from some platforms to others doesn’t work too well, masking for the sand too low down.
Rating: 8.5

(OTHER VERSIONS): NOKA has rather firmly latched onto the idea of “add other versions”, but they rarely seem to work very well. The sprite palette ends up getting changed in such a way that it looks more accidental than intentional, the background bricks display color bugs, the signs end up changing color, the jungle pole works even less, and there’s way too much green in the Wild version. Also, they’re all (except Wild) way too similar to the original, so much so that it’s unlikely they’d actually be used for anything.
Rating adjustment: -0.6

OVERALL: Before this finishes, I want to say (again?) that this is actually a very good conversion, and it just doesn’t seem fair there are so many, Many bugs in it. For all ordinary purposes, this is a perfect Turtemple conversion (probably better than CelL’s… not sure). I won’t be surprised if I see levels using this (Deserto is fairly popular, and this is similar to Deserto).
Pros: Mostly great.
Cons: A few too many bugs.
