Can’t the admin look at their score, and subtract to see the amount of gems they lost?

Anyway, the IceBank system IS what you get credit for Violet.

Also, my computer’s clock/calender is set wrong, that’s how I got a copy of RabbitHotel from 2009.

Hotels don’t HAVE to be hosted in battle, I’ve seen them in treasure.
Anyhow, I don’t see how else you could do it, and you could always put more coin amounts in, or shorten the waittime. Did you read the further ideas? [This review has been edited by mikeejimbo][This review has been edited by mikeejimbo]

Hmm, i don’t have much time to reveiw today, so my review will be quite short. Sorry. Anyway, let’s start review:
Eyecandy is quite good, background is nice. there is no major flaws in the eyecandy, but its still quite boring, i think there should be more different kinds of ground tiles. Average eyecandy. Tileset was used rightly, and i have no complaiments.
Gameplay is quite good too, not too long, or not too short. It’s spaz biasing in someparts, and that is a bad thing.
Ammo were placed nicely. I saw TNT and Ice. Ammo were goodly placed, there was not much, though.My conclusion is,
that this level is quite nice and fun, it would get better rating from me, if there would be enough eyecandy tiles.
RATING: 7.2

This would really be nice if it worked better, but sadly it relies way too heavily on an admin, and it fails to consider things like lag. Essentially, ignoring the larger part of the readme, this is how the upload works:

Client sits in WaitTime SuckerTube until a Seeker SCE shoots them, presumably causing them to lose some gems.
Admin sees the gems fall. Accurately. Without any lag or count difference. Honest.
Using the IceBank system (did I get credit? Is that one of the few things I didn’t get credit for?), Admin brings them down into the proper warp.
This gives them a number from 1-5 coins. Hopefully, the admin is trustworthy and will give the client the same amount of coins as gems.

This also takes way too long to be of much use. Can you imagine trying to turn 1000 gems into coins with this thing? Assuming it worked, that is.

This is completely unrelated, but I want to know how your copy of RabbitHotel.j2t is from 2009.

Response: Hotels are hosted in Battle. Also viewing gem counts doesn’t work very well at all.[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]

Eyecandy: Its nice, the background often confuses you, and is a bit busy… it hurted my eyes a little bit.
Item Placement: They were close to eachother, maybe put them further away. Bugs: you can get stuck at the wobbly cliffs, i mean the cliffs like the one at the start… jazz wil stop running and will push… on multiple places.
Gameplay: Its good, fun, and not that small!

Overall: Its a good level, try making the background a itsy bit … less busier… I even jumped to avoid some of the background treestumps :P Make some more!
DL Recommendation: Yes!

Ok, I review now a new level.
Gameplay: The gameplay was good. I saw that its small but for a small level the gameplay is good.
Eyecandy: Eyecandy is very good. Some good dark tiles and other colors. thats great
Pickup placement: There was some good pickup placement, but also, there could be more I think. I saw one full NRG carrot, that is good in a battle level, but a few carrot energy+1 is good too. So, no comments about that. I saw two power-ups, and they were good chosen(Seeker and Bouncer). I put that two power-ups often in my levels, only the last one had blaster and seeker.
Others: I saw no MP starts, only a jazz start near the powerups. And the tileset is hard to use(for me)
It’s a great level.

Finally, I found a level to rate.
Gameplay: The gameplay is okay, but there are some ends where you need to go back and not with one way.
Eyecandy: Very good eyecandy here. Like another level, Carrottus to the max, the eyecandy is overused and it was the same but that level has more and is bigger.
Pickup placement: Like the name says, only blasters here, and lots of fast fires. But ok, for an only blaster level its okay.
Others: I dont know if I may rate, because this level looks like another level. If its not allowed, this rating will be removed. For now, I give a 7

Hmm, i have no much time, so my review is bit smaller than it usually would be. ( sorry for that. )

Hmm, this is a battle level using Blade’s good wasteland tileset, and custom music file ( both were included in zip file. )Eyecandy is good, but quite boring. And there are some tile bugs. eyecandy is ok , though..
Gameplay is average, since its easy move around, there are right amount of springs.Im not a fan of dead ends though, an there is one. Average gameplay.Hmm, there are some ammo too, and its placed averagely, not too bad, but not too good either.
This level is quite boring, because lack of eyecandy. I would rate this better if there would be more eyecandy, 6.7 is my final rating.

Wow!!!!This is great! Usually I don’t give ant one so high rating, but when I heard that I said WOW! I love it it has some spirit in it! :)
You did really good job on it and in my opinion this one remix is the best on this site!

Ok, this was soo strange. I’m glad that no one has to rate this, because it will be a low rating. Actually, this is something new. But the bosses? I saw them not on my screen when I played them because I didn’t play them, but I looked at Dx his site and saw the two pics of them. These were very strange like he said. Well, my review ends.

Nice level(s) with nice music choosen and great eyecandy. the food placed is good. not much. ammo? well this is kinda basic. but its okey. Download the full version because ther ar 22 level(s) and Satan has fixed bugs and ammo placed and stuck getting. check his S_levelpack to. that rocks. but the first base in the episode contains in this Demo. i love cats ( only magic one’s :P) In the full one ar the monkeys better placed. i wanted to give it a 8.5. but i found some bugs, bugs such >( and why? fix this to just like the full one.

Download it? i will explain: The level(s) ar hard and nice monkeys placed. Dont run and then jump to the wall because you get stuck.

Dx, please, do something about your style of rating, it doesn’t make any sense!

First impressions:

WOW! At first sight, this looks like it deserves an 8, at least. Not too big and not too smal. Lets see, what else is there… nothing else I can think of :p

Lay-out:

Somehow the layout reminds of me of the levels made by Disguise in the J2C era. Loose platforms, some corridors and a lot of slopes stylize this level. And most importantly: no dead ends, you can just run in circles if you want, which scores points in my book. The level is compact, but could have been a bit bigger. On a side note, the level is probably a lot bigger than you may think, since the screen doesn’t stop scrolling at the edges (Note: you can change the size of a layer in the layer proporties). Good job on the layout.

Tileset use and eye candy:

Let me tell you this: this level has the best eye candy I’ve seen in a long while. No big boring looking platforms here: they’re hollowed out and filled with smal empty spaces and trees. The giant leaves help decorating the level. The walls in layer are nicely done, with holes adding variaty. Great job on the eye candy. There are some tile bugs, but they’re neglectible.

Ammo, candy, stuff that’s good:

The level is lacking somewhat in that department. Yes, there’s ammo, only smal clusters of the same but not that far apart. Yes it’s a smal level, so I’ll be gentle with the rating. Two powerups inhabit the top corners of the level: a bouncer and seeker powerup. A Full Health Carrot is right in the middle of the level. No coin warps however, but they’re not mandatory. Overall, he kept the specials within the recommended boundries.

Miscellaneous Stuff:

This level uses a cuatom music file “Bao.xm”. It adds a tropical feeling to the level, but there are better mods to choose from. The next level setting is set to itself, as the rule goes.

Verdict:

A great level for smal but fun battles. I’d advise to play this level with no more than 4 to 6 people, since it’s so smal. With a bit more ammo, it would be excellent, but the eye candy makes up for that. Download recommended for those who want smal battle parties :)

Sheesh, I’m becoming Aiko at this rate. O well, every level needs a good thorough review, right? Not the kind of the two before me (who are probably biased)

First impressions:

When I first ran this level, one thing came to mind: roomy. This level has corridors of at least 4 tiles high. Another thing was emptyness: no noticable eye candy (except for the background), hardly any ammo and goodies. This is a good start…

Layout:

Like I said before, this level is roomy ,and big. The corridors are like at least 4 high and the platforms are thick. You’re able to run around freely however, I noticed only one real dead end, near the bottom. A good battle level, in my opinion at least, is compact. In the layout department, this level scores medium.

Tileset use:

This level uses the metallic “Wasteland” tileset by Blade, which is included in the zip. I failed to see any outstanding eye candy on layer 4 (the only layer shown in low detail where eye candy is the most important), layer 2 and 5 (tho layer 5 is well done). However, da man tried experimenting with 3D background on layer 7 (3D isn’t restricted to layer 8 :p). Layer 8 is filled with the standard tiles, layer 7 has the (translucent) Textured Background. This form isn’t recommended, but it’s fun to see he has the guts to toy with them. It’s just too bad he didn’t use the set to it’s full potential.

Ammo, candy, stuff that’s good:

When I say “big battle level”, one thing comes to mind: emptyness. The clusters of goodies are far apart from eachother and are smal: 3 by 2 (ammo with one coin). Furthermore, there are some on the slopes, other are just… there. There are two powerups: a seeker powerup at the dead end, and a blaater powerup in the bonus room (20 coins). In a big level, spread out goodies are inevitable. That’s the reason why compact ones are much better.

Miscellaneous:

This level uses a custom music file “demo.mod” by Necros, which is also included. Songs by him are always good, but there’s also the matter of “fitting”. In that matter, it succeeds well. The next level setting is set to itself, which is recommended for stand-alone levels.

Verdict:

Another decent but big level, no big bugs I could find. If the level was smaller and had more goodies, it would have gotten a higher rating. For now, I’ll settle for a 6.5.

Piqued by curiousity of a level that suddenly shot up from 1 to 3 in average rating, I decided to download it.

It is actually a lot better than I expected.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is OK. Like JelZe mentions, it is short, and there is a little bit of deception. However, once you get the first lap done, it’s quite easy. One thing I liked was the thing with the vines. However, it seemed a little short. I would suggest making it a little bit longer and placing the vines just a little bit farther apart.

EYE CANDY: Eye candy is something I’ve always hated putting in my levels, and this is about my level at it, too. I do have some that are a little better, but I say it’s OK.

ITEM PLACEMENT: Except for the bananas, which are useless, and the save point sign post, I see no problems.

I give it a 5.2, because it deserves more than just a 5.

If this keeps up I may start attacking Dx due to his bad reviews… All he’s been doing is pointing out things with no explaination… This level deserves higher than a 1, period.

First impressions:

First of all (that goes especially for you, Dx) there are two kinds of warps in racing levels: normal warps, and warps with SetLap = 1, which I’ll refer to as lap warps. Each race should only have one lap warp and there is one, I’ll get to that in a minute.

That aside, one thing immediatly comes to mind when completing a lap: this race level is short, you can complete a lap in under 10 seconds if your an experienced player. The obstacles are standard, but that’s not the biggest feature of this level: it’s deception, you can go the “wrong way”.

Layout:

Nothing special to say about the lay-out. It’s decent, but really straight-forward: it basically goes from left to right. I mentioned “deception” as the greatest feature of this level, but that only goes to a very smal extent: there are roads away from the main route, but they come to a dead end (with a warp) rather quickly. I’d personally like to see those dead end warps removed. and speaking of dead ends, I found a big bug at the part with the vine and the exit sign: if you head to the left you’ll fall… endlessly, no warps to catch you. It’s to easy to avoid, but it’s still quite disturbing. Also, the swinging vines hang one tile or two too low: you can see Jazz or Spaz go through the platform.

Gameplay:

Spazie tried to make it a little bit different making these little off-roads, all with goodies to make you take them. He even went this far of making a “fake exit”. It’s an intersting idea (I dunno if it’s old), but it’s poorly done. It has potential tho, and it’s worth experimenting with.

Tileset use and Eye candy:

The eye candy’s decent, but standard. I’m guessing spazie took this right from an official level, which is acceptable. However, there are some tile bugs, but they’re very minor, and focussed in the trees and the bamboo. It gives the level a somewhat newbish look which is OK in his case.

Ammo, candy, stuff that’s good:

You’ll only see one major pickup in this level, and an effective one in races: ice. Since they’re off the main road they may be worth picking up if you’re in the lead. I wouldn’t advice it, since the level is so short. You also see a few bananas, but they’re mere decorative: a sugar rush won’t help you in races.

Verdict:

Unlike Dx claims, this is by no means a total disaster. It’s no masterpiece either, but it’s worth trying at least once. It’s short (therefor fast and somewhat fun), has interesting ideas…but it suffers from flaws a lot. A 5 for the effort. Next time, make your levels longer and interesting, it’ll do good on your ratings.
