Ok. It must be much smaller than the bigest tileset on the world. So please don’t compare this with original version. Sexy pink version is really… …pink..? … It’s really good and nice. This tileset hasn’t lot of !mportant tiles, like one-tile ground. But, if we forgive it, this is very good nice tileset with supreme useable. Maybe the best.
the download works……..
OK! Now I can play the pack!
Before the Winter, our winter packs started to appear.
Well the gameplay was good. The last level was mysterious. It could be more The enemy choosage was not very well. -Mostly, there were Ravens, cats and skeletons -but there were also good chosen enemies (like X-Mas Normal Turtles, Lizards and Float Lizards) The originality was good, eyecandy was like the original HH’98.
That’s all:
a 7.7[This review has been edited by chandie]
Pink! Yay! More pink! :D
Well, considering that it was your first tileset, I guess it’s pretty good.
Good Stuff:
- includes all essential tile types and several extra tile types
- good use of multiple layers
- waterfalls looks nice!
- bmp files and info included
Bad Stuff:
- eye candy needs serious help; using your PSP could help a lot with textures and shading
-unoriginal; I think I’ve seen everything in this tileset other places before.
- too plain; I can understand that you may have wanted it to look “painty”, but I don’t think you really accomplished that
Don’t be afraid to take lots of time working on each part of the tileset. Even though you’ve had the set in production for a number of years, it doesn’t look like you spent much time on it. Considering that it’s your first tileset, this is understandable. You have some potential, but it looks like you could use some practice first :) .
Edit: I honestly think I was too harsh on the rating the first time, sorry![This review has been edited by Biohazard UOI]
Non-Late CTF Level Review Number 01: Another Kind Of CTF
(Don’t worry. I’m not actually going to keep this format, so quit complaining.)
GAMEPLAY:
This level pretty much has a good layout. Basically everything on the left side is the same on the right side, which means balance isn’t an issue. And there’s good flow, as usual. However, there is a twist. Like how One Silver Penny required a coin to access the carrot, this level requires two coins to access each base. This level can be extremely evil, and in a good way, if players use the right tactics. I likey. The only thing I dislike about this level is it’s small size, but it’s at least big enough for some 2on2s and whatnot.
EYE CANDY:
Think Astroid City (5th level in my SP pack) except just a little more innovative. Aside from the fact that the BG looks horrible in 8-bit and I’m forced to play without the Textured Background option (as CelL said himself I had to do), it’s pretty good eye candy. I have nothing else to mention here.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
In the middle there’s a full energy carrot and a +1 carrot on the bottom left and bottom right; I can’t say I dislike this. While I could complain about the two toaster powerups, it’s not really a problem here. For one thing, a little extra effort is needed to get each of them since a few EBs are needed. Also, players can only get 20 max additional ammo from each powerup. So I have to say, powerup placement is good. Ammo throughout the level is also well placed.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
Somewhat often. It’s good, but a little small. This is an 8.
PS: A few bigger levels (4on4 sized, maybe) would be nice every now and then.
Eyecandy – Okay / good
Not much here. Not the normal CelL quality you’d expect. The ground looks nice. While Blade wanted us to us simple ground blocks, CelL used complex combinations of different blocks, much like you would use in Death Metal, etc. The background is a nice, scrolling, starry background, telling us it’s on a spaceship, which is why it’s not all that good. There are some little generator like things that move up and down which looks cool. There are also some other little bits and peices around, like pipes.
Gameplay – Good / very good
While the gameplay is fun and interesting, the flow isn’t all that good. But, levels with good flow only make them easier, after all. “Floating Town,” has so much focused into the flow, you rarely need to jump. Other levels, like, “BloodBunny’s Lair,” require you to jump more, thus making them more Spaz biased then others. The flow here is okay. Not much is focused on flow, in other words. It’s done in a way where you still don’t have to jump enough to make it Spaz biased. After all, CelL uses Jazz.
Ammo placement – Very good
The sexiest and best ammo placement since Distopia. Unique, nicely placed, and balanced. It’d be nice if there were bouncers, though. The ammo placement reminds me of in, “Security Breach,” by BlurredD. There are also coins that you need to get into the bases. CelL says they are for, “Another level of annoyence.” He spelled annoyance wrong, OMB!
Overall: Good / very good
Good overall level. A bit small… about the size of, “Bleached Diamondus.” It can be too small in some cases, and just right in others. Not the type of thing you’d host in JDC because it can’t handle too many people. More than 8 people in the server would probably be way too much. Ideal for duels and 2v2’s. The coin system may make duels a little frusturating, but it gives you all the more reason to base camp not die when you have the flag.
Download: Yes.
Host this often: Sometimes, but it’s not something I would host every day.
PS: The background reminds me of, “You Can’t Scream in Outer Space.”[This review has been edited by labratkid]
DX, don’t put ‘Host This Often’ because you can’t even play online ;p[This review has been edited by labratkid]
It’s bad, really! I tried to change the coloour, but guess what! IT DIDN’T CHANCE IN JAZZ JACKRABBIT II, I WANTED ORANGE SPAZ IN SINGLE PLAYER BUT IT DIDN’T WORK!!!!!!!!! N\A from me, sorry, it’s that bad!

GOOSU TILESET AND COOL MASKS AND LEVEL :D
I won’t rate however, since if I’d rate seriously, it would pull down the average and I don’t want that :P
i dont know for what this is used for but its funny:)
This level is:
- WAAAAAAAAAAY to small.
- Boring
- easy
- has BAD enemy placement
- no eyecandy
- no nothing
Although, it’s a good try for the first time. Next time try to make a more interesting level.
Let’s see…
AWFUL eyecandy, but it’s fun to play with the level.
NOT boring, it’s original, but bad layer 4 + 5 use.
Ammo?? There is something, but it’s not much and at weird places. (but this is also fun)
I liked the mini-games.
Ummmm, it won’t be more than a 5
JelZe: The .css file is a file that contains info about the font and font color and stuff for the HTML readme. Thanks for the review, btw ;)
Labratkid: Sorry :D and OMG ILL WATCH IT.
Biohazard: It is must unlikely I will create another tileset. I just found the bmps of this one on my HD a few weeks ago, and optimized everything to release it, but it will probably be my first and last tileset :P.
Litenante_91: Rate the tileset, not the (sux) level.[This review has been edited by Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp]
You forgot me in the mask message D:
Interesting, Trafton’s name backwards – which is “Notfart”, as most of you know – is also :No TF Art.” WATCH HIM RATE THIS LOW =(((
Or something.[This review has been edited by labratkid]
Litenante, this is a tileset, not a level.[This review has been edited by labratkid]
The shortcut for SELECT NONE is the same as NEW FILE so if you press CTRL + N, you automatically start a new file without a prompt.
You can’t open other palette files well.
Very buggy.
Final rating: 5.5
I won’t rate it, since I feel bad giving something that has so much potential a low rating.
That was uncalled for, DX. Bjarni doesn’t understand what it’s for. Bjarni, it’s for creating tilesets and making special colors in them. In the Swamps tileset, green colors turn out to be brown. That’s what it’s for; doing that stuff.[This review has been edited by labratkid]
ET, latest suggestion: Now that you’ve made all these nice changes, could you be persuaded to reupload the file?[This review has been edited by Violet CLM]
Hehe, my turn to review :p
First, I’d like to mention something about the contents of the Zip-file: not only does it contain the tileset and example, but also the original’s BMP-files (good for previews, people should make a habit of that), a logo, and something I can’t identify :p It’s a .css file in any case (Anyone?)
Ok, now the tileset itself. Somehow, it reminds of Diamondus in JJ1. Yes, the grass/forest (?) theme returns once more :p The graphics are basic imo, no gradients except on the edges. The animations (color animation again, I love those :p) are really nicely done, especially on the waterfalls. Eye candy is there: trees, the mentioned waterfall, signs… That alone can give you a moderate rating. What brings the rating up a notch is that sucker tubes are included, and vines, hooks (there’s a seperate hook event, remember that, Flash ;)), poles… What’s really surprising is that the colors don’t screw up in 8-bit mode when you use the water level event. Kudos for that, Flash :) And of course he didn’t forget hidden massages in the mask :p
Verdict:
While the graphics look simple at best, this set actually has a lot to offer. and content is more important than graphics alone. The graphics are worth a 7 at best, but because of the set’s content (hooks, vines, etc.) the rating raises to an 8 I know, I’m cheap XD. One more thing: the example level shows everything you need to know, but has a faulty next level setting. It’s still an example level, so I won’t withdraw points for that. Good work Flash, keep it up!
