The eycandy is good, only a lot of bad guys, and leave that poles on the foreground out, it’s irritating me! That pole, that was a V-pole, bounced me into baddies, there tons of them: Doggy Dogs, some Cristmas guys. To bad there is no background eyecandy, but that doesn’t matter that much, as you can make on layer 5, stuff thats masked on layer 4 and then it isn’t masked! But you din’t used layer 5… and next time, make it a bit longer, I completed the level in no time… but if you want to play a quick single player level, download this, if you want to play big and very good levels, don’t download this.
INCLUDE THE TITLESET FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE THIS TITLESET!!!
Well, it’s good, with that mario n stuff, only I think it’s not very usefull. I won’t rate…
I don’t call this an episode, because this has only three levels and the other two levels are not hidden. The levels have lots of tile bugs, so the tiles were place badly. Pickup and enemy placement, that’s ok good. And so on this has some good and bad things, but, because this is not from you sonictth, I can’t rate this, but if I could, I would rate this to a 4.2 or something like that. Texts are german, next time translate those texts on english. It’s the official language here at j2o. Ya and your dad should practise anyway. Your dad levels shows that your dad is not very experienced to use jcs, but practise makes PERFECT!
Though I don’t really like this level, I find it kinda original. The way you placed these metal-like structures gives it a in-construction like aspect. Weapon placement is kinda bad though. Gameplay average. No special Download recomandations…
Now…For a first race level, it’s really good. And I have a few remarks concerning Flash’ review :
This Is a long race level. I personnaly finished one lap in 42 sec. That’s definetely long. The eyecandy is indeed not wonderfull, but I believe the author made a tileset specifically for race levels, and I believe he did it quite well. Second : there are three very good places to place your explosives, towards the end. There isn’t much ammo, but there never is in official ones.
Further : Waz could’ve made more levels than just one, and on your Whammo Ammo° panel you wrote : “Sields Weapons” instead of “Shield Weapons”.
Download recomandation (even though it’s more for the tileset)
It’s good for your first episode. Only the eyecandy is a little bad, but that doesn’t matter. The gameplay worked out very well for your fist episode. Only to bad some text strings are in German. Since this is your first episode, I want give a rating. Otherwise it will be round a 4, 5 points. And one thing: PRACTICE! When you practice your levels will be great, I think…
I see another gameplay concept for CTF. How good is it? look at the previous and this review for yourself.
Covering the gameplay, this is very confusing and frustrating at first to play you jump into warps over and over… It’s different but not one of the most successful concepts as even when you get used to it, it’s still quite boring.
The eyecandy was a bit below average
but not the worst i’ve seen. You see bubbles floating around and plain, blue background… Thats about it.
The originality is one of the
best aspects of this level. I don’t
think i’ve ever seen the use of warps quite like this before.
Weapon and Ammo placement wasn’t too good. I found like 1 toaster pu and toaster ammo in some places. Nothing really interesting here. Carrot placement wasn’t too bad imo since it uses warps like this, however I still think 1 full NRG in the middle of the level would’ve served this level much better.
You could already see the replay value from reading this and other reviews of this. So it’s not important to discuss any further.
Overall, this level is below average and nothing really interesting.
Sorry no download reccomendation.
Also try: Double Trouble CTF by GenEx
that’s kinda why I’m working on fixing the thing (flag bug? you got to be kidding)
Before I start, I would like to say I do not know what the level’s name is. It is uploaded as Warp Z0ne. The .zip file is called Warp Z00ne. The level is called Warp Zone. The filename is Warpwarpwarp. You see my problem.
TILESET/TILESET USE: The author uses (I think) “Fantasy Land” (it might be Fantasy World.. I forgot) by someone. I have no idea who. The author has used this tileset before, and while neither time was done very well, I think I liked the other use better. Not that all that much can be done with the tileset. Anyway, layer 4 consists of a bunch of Deserto pipes, and for background eyecandy there are some moving white rings. Now, layer 8 itself is not fully solid, and is partially transparent. However, this does look kind of cool, so I am willing to forgive the author as long as he doesn’t do it again without a good reason.
Pros: The background is a rather interesting effect.
Cons: The tileset doesn’t look good, and not much of it is used at all.
Rating: 5.0
WEAPON/ITEM PLACEMENT: The weapons and items are scattered among the various warp rooms, and are not in too much quantity. (there are Fastfires and Toaster) There are also a few rooms with coins in them, and some powerups which can only be obtained by paying 50 coins (both powerups cost the same, oddly enough).
Pros: Some parts show some thought.
Cons: Most of it is rather randomly done, and there isn’t all that much ammo.
Rating: 5.0
ORIGINALITY: This level is not paticularly original – a bunch of rooms connected by warps. This is done better in Onag’s Rat Race (a bunch of rooms connected by sucker tubes), and probably other places as well.
Pros: Few.
Cons: Just not very original.
Rating: 3.0
GAMEPLAY/DESIGN: The main focus of this level is Gameplay, but I’m not sure it really suceeds in giving a satisfactory type of this. Some rooms have only one way out, and since there is no electro blaster, camping is quite possible. If you try to access the powerup rooms from below, you end up in the room directly above them. And all the rooms are about the same size, so you don’t have multiple rooms to go to in the same direction from one room.
Pros: It could easily make for some interesting play.
Cons: “Interesting” does not always mean good, and a little more thought spent on this factor, in addition to all the others, would have been nice.
Rating: 6.0
REPLAY VALUE/FUN FACTOR: This level would probably not be paticularly fun until you learned it, but there aren’t too many rooms, so that shouldn’t be incredibly hard. However, the camping and lack of anything very new or interesting makes it not paticularly enjoyable.
Pros: It is different, and may appeal to the “different” crowds.
Cons: It’s “different” in the wrong way.
Rating: 4.5
OVERALL (not an average): While I like this a bit more then Trafton appears to have, it is still not a very good level and shows that beta testing might have been a good idea (though I am unable to trigger flag bug, despite not trying). Still, the author does show some promise, though I advise he makes ordinary (read: platform/tunnel based) levels until he gains more skill with JCS, and then persue the more original ideas he evidently comes up with.
Pros: The level does show some promise.
Cons: The eyecandy and lack of time spent on the level kind of cripple it.
Rating: 5.0
This is one of those really insane levels using Dimensions1/Sirius by Agama (tileset not included, but downloadable elsewherre on J2O). The level is interesting, and fairly good, though there are a few eyecandy concerns that drive me crazy. Eccentric is good, but the background layer use in this level eventually gets a little tiny bit annoying, or at lot annoying, depending on your playing style.
You see, the background has a lot of ghost ehoes of tiles in the back that you would expect to be…tiles that there is a good chance one would miss when jumping around the level. Aerial players may not like this.
Still, this is a pretty good level. I like it, and I think it is definitely worth a play. As for the specifics, here is the report card.

Ummm… interesting…
GAMEPLAY:
Let me just say this: it’s like one of those levels where you use tubes to go room to room but much worse. The idea in and by itself isn’t bad; it just wasn’t made too well. You could have placed the warp targets. What makes this worse than a sucker tube version is being able to shoot someone while warping, which renders that player incapable of moving and much easier to kill (ultimately a cheap move to use). So the layout lacks flow and is a little annoying trying to get around. The best part of this level has to be the balance, but that’s just because of its small size and simplicity.
EYE CANDY:
Not so good. Probably a bad choice for a tileset since you said you had trouble creating a better background. If you can’t make good eye candy with a certain tileset, you might as well use another one. Even so, I bet the eye candy could be better with that tileset.
CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:
There are two +1 carrots in the middle and one in each coin warp. You might as well used a full energy carrot, although two +1 carrots right next to each other isn’t the worse thing that could have been done. The ammo placement isn’t much. The powerups are placed alright, but I don’t recommend putting powerups in a coin warp, especially one requiring as much coins.
HOST THIS OFTEN?
If you do, you must be really bored. I may have liked that other level I saw online more. I’m rating 4.7 just because.
The Edit: It’s more like a 3.5 on second thought. Feel free to blame my rating system.[This review has been edited by BlurredD]
OK then…well, this is an interesting idea, but I can not say that it comes out very well during play. Why? Beacuse, first of all: this level shows very little effort. Secondly, this level just is not very good. Why? There is not much eyecandy to look at. A lack of effort shows strongly. And much, much more. This level uses “fantasy world” by The Killer. It’s an OK tileset, though nothing superamazingfantasticilicious. Namely, it’s not the world’s best tileset, but not much is needed for a level like this. The tileset may be limited, but the eyecandy in the level is little more than a few pipes and some ground tile. Snore.
Other than the bleak eyecandy, there were also a few other problems. The gameplay, while certainally novel, is not anything to write home about. The idea of warping from one room or another is one of those ideas that has never been tried before because it is not that interesting.
Gameplay is hard to rate in a level like this, because of the newness. Then again, there is not much talent involved when there is such a small space. Much of it is hoping for not having a warp kill. Since many tiles only have one path to them, there are a lot of stalemates.
Aside from the warping around, there is very little to gameplay. Sure, you can get powerups using coins, but that’s not anything out of the ordinary. Put simply, this really is not a valid gametype, though it is a new idea. Worst of all, it has flag bug.
This just not is a good example of a level. It needed more time, more though, and most of all more “goodness” in order to become a nice level. Sorry GenEX, but this just is not good.

Yea, but I’m not so lazy this time, so I decided to make bigger review.
DESIGN
Well the idea is quite good and interesting, but the puzzles and uninteresting places, and the level 2, I didn’t find the crate for the computer room, I needed to cheat, few times. Ouch!
7/10
EYECANDY
Ya say eyecandy is bad in first levels, I don’t think so, since those two first levels are from the Jungle Rabbit demo, heh. Eyecandy is good in first levels, and it comes better in the future levels.
9/10
ORIGINALITY
What could I say, oh, this is from demo.
5/10
GAMEPLAY
Wow! This is almost the best thing in this episode, but the level sizes are quite unbalanced so it takes 1 point off.
8/10

Good Ya included all, and the level are named well.

PICKUP AND ENEMY PLACEMENT
Lots of enemies. Doh, I played on hard. Pickups are well placed.

I just give it 8. It’s ok.

Yes, there will be a 5th episode with the name Frogface problems. It will be finished round march april 2003.
Download this only if you have downloaded the Junglerabbit episode! Otherwise this is funny music, download it anyway.
ARGH!!! Red, why did you call me Red-Ninja? Now he gets the credit for my work. `_`
Violet you are the king. I’ve been waiting for Dreempipes for bleeming ages! :D
Doesn’t seem to lack any tiles that I can see. Has the red buttons, the green background alternative versions of all the tiles, heck even the boss eggs. :) Very well done.
IMHO you shoulda used Haze’s Dreamy Pipes remix, it might not be as authentic but it’s even cooler music. :p[This review has been edited by defalcon]
I’m too lazy to give this a full review with averages and everything, but I’ll try to give a general idea.
This pack is great. It’s far better then any of the author’s previous works, as in it’s playable, it isn’t a ton of hurt events, and it’s not a tileset.
The eyecandy is good. Other then the levels using the author’s own tileset (Spaceport, I think), it was all executed well. I saw no major tile bugs.
The design is also good. There are a few parts I didn’t like, such as the “puzzles” level (whatever you may think, hiding a crate behind layer 3 is NOT a puzzle), and I didn’t want to have to do Quite so much backtracking in the third and fourth levels.
Gameplay is good, difficult but not too difficult (no save points, but who cares?), and with good enemy/weapon/item placement.
The plot is followed through the levels and not abandonded to go off chasing dragons or anything like that. It is helped along by cut scenes, information given to you by “Jungle babe”, and frequent appearances of the Magic Cat him(/her?)self.
If you like single player, go ahead, download this. If you don’t like single player, don’t download this, because it is single player.
Hmmm….joy, I knew this would come out sooner or later. Sadly, I cant download this or rate this yet, but i will as soon as my computer was fixed. Expect a long review from me.
Well, like I promised, here is the long review.Firstly let me say that the example level was good and showed a lot, and the button idea was really good, since the buttom tiles come into use.
Now lets begin the review:
Water: Since a good percentage of this level is based on the look of the water, I have to include this in my review. The water actually looks quite great. Though it looks purple, that is good since the water isnt “pure” on this planet. The water is one of the best I have ever seen. It looks good AND fits into the theme of the tileset. Plus the water goes into a combination with the switches to make it go up and down. Not many levels that are themed around water turn out good, but one with this tileset can be great! There are also “underwater alternatives” as it says in the set, which if you dont feel comfortable using water you can make something that resembles water, which is great.
INCLUDED TILES:
Hmm…I havent played Dreempipes in a while, but based on what I see and remember all the tiles are included. Heck, there are even those buttons and eggs of that giant bird included! I have nothing wrong with the included tiles. Also, there are extra tiles which violet himself made, such as the hooks destruct blocks etc. And the textured backround looks beautiful! There are also belts, suckers, destruct blocks, hooks, poles, vines and many more. What more can you ask for! There is a variety of tiles so you can make numerous different settings and use you imagination and creativity to the full power! This definately gets high marks!
Pros: Everything
Cons: None that I can see of.
Rating: 9.7
COLOR:
The color here is also great. Like I mentioned before, the water actually looks good in this set O.o And the textured backround is amazing. I also fell in love with the belts, that color is awesome! The sucker tubes and tunnels look quite good too! The green ground and backround look great! The water looks a bit strange but its still good. The color shocks me here at how well its done.
Pros: Basically everything.
Cons: None that I can see of or that are worth mentioning.
Ratin: 9.5
Masking:
The first thing Ive noticed is some text in the mask ;p Lol, though its funny to read and I have no problem with it, I wont give extra marks because violet is a “cowfish”. The thing I found that sort of bugged me is the tunnel mask is to thin. While playing the xample level, when i jumped in the tunnel I was slowed down by the mask because I almost went through it (yes, it is that thin). Though this only decreased the rating by a bit, it can become a nuisance, especially in race games where people are new to this set. Generally, I found the masking to be ok, except there are to many thin masks in this set, and im not exactly a fan of that.
Pros: Masking is good.
Cons: Sometimes its to thin and gets annoying.
Rating: 9.2
Animations:
Wow. Thats what describes this the most. There are many animations in this tileset. Arrows, waterfalls, water rivers, arrows on suckers, small barely seen flashing dots on the yellow triangles, waterfalls in what looks like a glass tube, blue and green buttons, water control buttons, water on ground, small waterfalls(variety), belts and destruct blocks, to name them. Though some animations you can barely see, others are quite good. I find no problem with the animations, they are quite well done.
Pros: Lots of animations, nicely done
Cons: Some arent that usefull.
Rating: 9.5
Ease to use:
This is the part that lowers the mark of many tilesets down. No matter how much people try, there is still some difficulty using the tileset. This tileset fits that description. Although ive seen many harder to use sets, this one isnt what I would call simple. The large variety in the tiles make the levelmaker think “Gee, I wonder where this goes”. Though the example level helped me understand how to use the set more, I still have some difficulty with it. Though when i look at it from the positive, I see really awesome levels made with this. Though it would take some work and getting used to the set.
Pros: Ive seen more harder to use sets.
Cons: Large vareity confuses you in where to place tiles, not that easy.
Rating: 7.6
FINAL RATING: 9.1, which is rounded closest to 9.2, which id what I would give this.
FINAL COMMENTS: Unlike many of you, Dreempipes wasnt my favorite tileset. The conversiono of the tileset was magnificent though, I dont think you would find a better dreempipes conversion out there. Violet proves again he is number one when it comes to conversions. The tileset is great, and im sure many of us where waiting for it. This is one the greatest conversions, and you MUST download this (unless you want to be like spoy ;p j/k)
Like i said, I’d give this a solid 9.2 and a big download reccomendation.
[This review has been edited by Blackraptor]
My head hurts from playing this… lol
I really don’t want to go into all the details but basically Jungle levels were good (5,7-6,5) but the other levels were very uninteresting and got low notes (3-4). So basically I decided to make an average and give this pack a 5.
Download recommendation: yes if you like non stop shoot ‘em up packs.
Oh and there’re no save posts… so you better watch out not to repeat the whole level from the beginning.
Daniel.
