Great conversion. I like the diamondus tileset so some extra types will certainly be welcome.
If you like the original diamondus tileset then you should download this.
It has been a while since I’ve downloaded anything from here but I liked the design so I tried it. I have to say this is a very good level. The often small space and the cave design is very well done. Though I had to get used to the fact that ceiling spikes actually work here (which is good). I got every type of ammo with the exception of seekers and pepper spray. The bouncer got really useful at certain places mostly when I was low on health. Health was actually enough, whenever I needed only 1 hit I got a carrot. Even if not, I survived far enough to get one. I found quite a lot of secrets, I think there were even a few which couldn’t be accessed though I’m not 100% sure. You can argue that it’s too linear, too simple etc. but it depends on who’s playing. For example I like levels which don’t divide 20 times in 35 places. Yes-yes and I’m a horrible person for liking the original levels as well. I like when I know where I’m actually going. Also I couldn’t care less about a story. J.K. Rowling may be a good writer but I doubt she’s a good level creator. So there’s no point in making a bad story for a good level, as well as making good stories for a level that sucks. I think it’s perfectly okay that you used the original music, don’t know how you think about it but I like the original tracks. Another reason why I like this level is because you can see that this wasn’t a 2 hour work. It is really long and still very precisely done. I really can’t find too many things that could lower the rating. Maybe that there are very few saving points. I can’t really complain about the difficulty since in my opinion a level needs about as much difficulty as this level has (well maybe a little bit less).
My rating is no less than 9.5 and even if it’s not a perfectly accurate rating I can calmly recommend this level for any player.
Man I like the set, You made the best out of the tiles and combined them to a fitting industrial theme! The tileset is very easy to use and contains all necessary blocks (where i used to struggle sometimes). Additionally what probably speaks most for the set is that it is adopted frequently! You can find it a lot out there. This is the most professional combination of set parts I have seen. Good JOB BlurredD! A straight forward very functional good looking piece of work.
For what it is, a ten! (In comparison to all the other crap ;D)
Starlit may not be Starlit Summit, but it’s still a pretty decent CTF level with an oldschool feel – the music and tileset (good choices on both!) are right from the past decade, and the asymmetrical layout will remind you of 2002’s biggest hits as well.
Unfortunately, it has some flaws or otherwise weird things about it.The full carrot really looks like it should be on the ledge at 54,33… but that’s picky.
Overall, it’s a nice level, but needs some fixes to be a proper good level. And as there was no beta testing, the rating will perhaps be edited at some point. :)
EDIT: That’s better.
EDIT2: Raised the rating since this is such a bunch of fun to play.
Oh… So hard…
I dont know what to say just:
EYECANDY: 3.6
Eyecandy is not really impressive you have to make me watch at the eyecandy and turn my face into Me Gusta face. The background layer really sucks, even play’d on 16 Bit ? Everything is black, you could do it parallaxing stars background. The pumpkin placement just i cant see whats there, you’ve just put some kinds of herbs, awful. The waterfalls has no sense.Carrots on foreground with no edge.
WEAPON PLACEMENT: 1.2
Less weapon, and even wrong placed, there are 12 seekers and 24 bnc in the whole map, also placed wrong.Nothing else.
(and i want to add something about the spawn zone placement, wrong ! )
GAMEPLAY: 3.2
The tree pads are comin’ from nothin’ except some. No pit, if i fall down in split screen ? I have to Log-in ? Because is impossible if i dont have network and i want to play with a friend on split-screen.
MUSIC: 7.2
Even music you have choosen well but not very, its sample, Easter.it would not give attention. Anyway you could search for a moment, is not that hard.
Sorry man with this rating you have to practice more. My final rating :
Great conversion. One of my favorite tilesets. Now I have 5 more types with the original two having added tiles. They all look great. Worth downloading this.
I played the level a few times so I could really see what it was like. I have to say I enjoyed it quite a lot. Though not very original I can’t say I disliked the quiz parts. Though I had to answer them all well to be able to access the coin warp, though the questions there were really simple, the tougher ones came later. I see you also made sure that beginners won’t have trouble completing the level since there is a noticeable difference between hard and easy. Paths divided a few times to add to the replay value and I also liked the idea of making a path for Jazz and for Spaz at somewhere in the middle of the level. Pickups were fine, you used many types of food, though all suited the level. There were also a lot of gems unfortunately mostly only red ones. Ammo was also suitable for the level and certain types were also required to get some items. Giving seekers made the level a bit too easy though. Carrots were quite well placed and there were enough. There were also some powerups for bouncy toaster and RF ammo. It’s good you didn’t add one for seekers that would have made the level too easy. Enemies were well placed sometimes even acting like a trap for players. The boulders weren’t really needed in my opinion since once they worked as supposed to other times they rolled in the opposite direction. The spikes were a better idea especially under the question part. I’m not sure but I think the least likely answer lead to the buttstomp path with the spikes(not sure). The music is from JJ1 Stonar level, well, who would know, it actually fitted the level since it has some similarities to the original level music to a certain extent. Also somewhere at the middle of the level there is a spaz superkick stomptile that leads to nothing. Guess you forgot to put something there. Also the last question was a bit too much in my opinion, though the texts differed from the path you chose and had some, how should I say, “interesting” texts.
All together I really enjoyed the level and I think it would satisfy most downloaders. If not I’m sorry for misleading but I certainly give this a download recommendation since in my view it was a well done level and a good effort.
Seen worse and seen better, it’s a bit better than average. Too few secrets, pickups and too many open areas. Also I see you knew what you were doing, so I’d rather blame laziness than the lack of your abilities.

Prelude
“The Battle of Jungle 2.0 Day”, well not as a blaming, but this isn’t a good name, I mean, it’s a CTF level, and the place is exactly referring to the tileset’s title. You dont need complicated names, a Jungle Bungle or Jungle Fight or even a Kubus CTF would make a better impression. The level is tiny and has numerous weird things in it, so why do I reveiw this? Because, it’s your first level and you quite much appear to need advice!
Eyecandy
The look is basically decent, the edges of the walls and leaves are smooth, there are waterfalls, tree tubes made right. I think I can state that the background looks excellent with the bare look and the water, even though you didnt ulitlise Layer 7. The places where rabbits jump around looks all fine, but the edge walls are usually blank. The leaves add a good eyecandy, but several times they are placed in unnatural positions, also I first found them confusing, but it’s easy the get used to or just to turn Low detail on, It actually makes the levels clear, and doesn’t ruin near anything, that’s a good point!

Layout
The bases in the opposing sides are in Death-Ends (Places where you hardly have way to get out without getting hit). The level is definetly tiny, closely just a one route level, but the ways have different functions near the bases. There is a sort of ridiculous part, the lower big box, with warps leading to it with small ways out of it, it’s totally empty, Both the Full Carrot and the Seeker PU is above it. Shouldn’t those two, or least one be there? Well you can hide there for limited amout of time, but with that, you would trap yourself quite afar of the bases. It’s wrongly made part of the level. Anyway this map is generally simple (what doesn’t mean bad!) and is mirrored, the only differnece is BNC and RF powerup, rightly balancing. It’s just a piece of cake to learn the level.

Gameplay
The three most dangerous powerup, 2 +1 C, 1 FullC. Well i didn’t actually play it, but i could easily imagine how it could turn out thinking about the small size. A duel could be sort of right, there would be a lot of camping and carrot fight though. The 2v2 would be err, well actually i can’t imagine how that would be, it could act fine. 3v3 would be bloody as hell, ew. There is a big fail on the pickups, i will expalin them one paragraph below. Whatever, so what i would mainly say, there are too much PUs and Carrots. Just shooting seekers out from the spot of the FullC and the Seeker PU you can get all the PUs and camp the carrot at once, it’s superior to any place, it would ruin the game In my opinion. Let’s talk about the flow. Those chumps at 52:16 and 97:16, are damn annoying. Accidentally i found myself pushing walls, and i always ran into the warps leading to the bottom. The rest was appropriate.

Pickups
The most important and very big mistake is that, the generators aren’t setted. This way, they spawn in a few seconds after they got taken. When you turn an event into a generator, you can set it’s delay of time to spawn again on the right lower corner of the Set Event Window. You need to make it like 25 to PUs and Carrots, and 20 to the simple ammos.
The PUs were in acceptable places, but, they are too much and too close. One should be only on top, and not in the middle, but close to one side, and the other should be in the bottom box, I think. BNC is quite good to break camps, so it should be one of the PUs. There are just a little small ammos, there should be a bigger bunch just next to the bases (it should be BNC for both sides). Ice inside the tubes in the middle isn’t too useful. The +1 Carrots are placed right, but i would mark them too much for the tiny map.

Music
Easter.s3m, “Frolick Lane” By Alexander Brandon. It itslef is a great tune, yet just by the filename, it’s not really meant to fit a Jungle level, there are some samples that feel like decent for a jungle but it’s too fast, happy and clear. For a jungle i would choose a slower, rithmic and mystic music, the general music for this tileset could’ve been just great for it.

Ending
Look it’s not bad as a first level, but there is a lot where to improve! I would give you some advices,6 out of 10
~RabidRabb
Well, 9 levels. I have to say you really had some interesting and good ideas. The problem was that these ideas weren’t done well. I think there were too many open areas, which were really confusing after a while. Trying to make a level more challenging with regenerating enemies ads to the difficulty but doesn’t add to the fun of the level. And anyway what were you thinking on the first level I had to fight about 12 queens to pass the level. What about the pickups? There were hardly any some coins carrots very minimal ammo some 1 ups and nothing else. Also putting 5-6 enemies in an area where you’ve got 1 block space to move isn’t a good thing either. Another thing, you could at least put some signs to help the player know where he should go. There were some glitches as well at certain warp areas.
But at least you could use the tilesets properly. So as I said these are levels with some very good ideas which could have been done better.
My rating is 5.7. This means your pack was good enough for not being crap, but bad enough for me not to give it a download recommendation.
EDIT: I replayed the levels. As you said they were made to be difficult but the last 2-3 were well, something way harder than “difficult”. About the 12 queens, I didn’t actually count them last time I just wanted to point out the fact that I had to battle a lot of them (now I’m quite certain there were more than 15). Certain bats keep respawning in every level btw. And as you asked, I will mention that the warps were glitchy in the carrotus level where the “warp target” put you in a place with 1 block space. Warp target should be somewhere with 8 empty tiles around you otherwise the player will get stuck in the wall. I think I met some of those glitchy warps in the medivo level as well.
Also most boss fights were in really tight spaces which were full of bats. I know you wanted the levels to be challenging but that’s too much.
Could you play through all the levels btw?
Anyway last time I think I made it to the 3rd level without cheats, but since I wanted to see the whole pack (because I don’t want to review something I haven’t even played through and give an unaccurate rating) I just used the health cheat to check out the other levels. The first 6 levels are so-so but the rest are just impossible. The player just feels that he/she is squeezed through a mousehole and then he gets 4-5 bats that respawn in 8 seconds.
Anyway like I have already mentioned the lack of pickups is a big problem. For me the levels would have been much more fun if there were at least a minimum amount of stuff to get. Without them it was just running around in a nearly empty level. Also I noticed that most of the time the 1 ups lead to dead ends from where I couldn’t get out.
All together the levels look ok or interesting in some cases but when it come to playing you’ll notice that it’s unfairly hard. The puzzles are sometimes quite creative but other times you brake a trigger crate and don’t even know if you’ve screwed up something or did something that will help in continuing the level. Though as a positivity I can admit that I didn’t lose my interest in the levels since I was really curious to see all of them (unlike the last single player level I tried)
Sorry but I can’t give a higher rating than 6. For second time it was slightly a bit more fun than last time. I hope you will still make levels as this one wasn’t that bad for a start and I’m sure you are able to improve. Next time try to target the average players (believe me it’s not a hard task to get a good rating from me :D), just don’t forget pickups.
Nothing about these levels are very challenging, interesting or fun. Lot of empty areas. Boring eyecandey. Open level designs leads to a lot of leaps of faith. Difficulty in any parts came from tons of enemies, which even then don’t add much. Overall very average
That was a bugged thing that got into the zip somehow.
Totally pointless.
WTF is with the other .j2l file included?
Having played this level recently, I’d say it does great justice to the battle mode. It flows very nicely and the eyecandy is gorgeous. 7.3 is way too low for a level like this.
To be honest, the story is quite foregone and depressing, but aside from that, high quality in every department.
That’s all I’ve got on this one. Not much to say here.
Generally a substantial improvement over the version that comes with JJ2.
I did some tests with this tileset and all I’ll say is this: Hell variant + the music from Skyrim’s Soul Cairn = high-quality atmosphere comprised of abject terror.
Certainly worth the effort.

There’s no way I’m giving this level less than 10. Actually I consider it 11/10. This is the best level I’ve ever played. Tileset is awesome as well as the music you chose for it. I enjoyed finding secrets and coins. Also if I was careful enough i could pick up everything. Seemed like trying to get 100% items and enemies like in Jazz 1.
[This is a tileset, not a level. Thus the only content in your review is “tileset is awesome” and that’s just not good enough. ~Violet]
Well, i have to say this is a really cool level.I really liked the tileset you would almost think this is an original tileset from Jazz 1. Reminds me of an upgraded technoir level which is a very good thing for me since technoir is my favorite from Jazz 1.The items were also well placed though I have to mention the level lacked secrets and gems.
