I only licked the music
tileset is just ok.[This review has been edited by BúññyÉlmérTšb]
Newbie, you gave this a 9.7 cause you hate CTF?! Shouldn’t it be the other way around?!
Oh well, nm. Let’s get on with the review.
Southern Swamp bu BunnyElmer is a CTF lvl of medium size using the amazing tileset Swamp’s of the Sleeping Jaguar by Agama. Because Elmer chose this tileset, I was expecting lots of great eyecandy and some nice ideas.
However, I was vrey dissapointed when I found out that the “nice ideas” were just a whole truckload of platforms placed in a otherwise empty space. Also, the “great eyecandy” was non-existent.
Yes, Southern Swamp has good weapons placement with ammo placed sensibly around the lvl and there are some nice carrot positions too. But the trouble is, that’s all. The eyecandy is very, very bad. There are a couple jaguars, bushes, water pools and tree trunks but that’s all. The foreground layers consist of only boring rain and the whole lvl has too much emptiness in it. That makes the lvl look rather boring and dull.
The gameplay is also bad although it’s all right in some places. The best part of the gameplay is the placement of springs, I think although the rest falls below the average standard I expect of lvl’s. First of all, there are three dead ends in the lvl. One at the blue base, one at the red base and one at the bottom-left corner of the lvl. They are unbelievable annoying…
Secondly, Southern Swamp is too Jazz-unfriendly. Spaz can double-jump up with platforms while Jazz has to use springs which is slower. The seeker powerup can only be reached by double-jumping too so Jazz has to shoot the powerup with bouncers and only get 20 bullets out if it. Not good, not good…
I opened the lvl with hopes of a high quality lvl and closed it with a bad rating in mind. Sry, Elmer, but this only get an 5.5 from me. Try harder nxt time and make yours lvls more Jazz friendly, with less dead ends and more eyecandy. No download recommendation.
Cheers,
White Rabbit.
Wow…
ok, it is hard to rate this cause there has never been anything like it before.
The eyecandie wasn’t very good, it isn’t jazz friendly, but the concept is great! So, i don’t really like the level, i love the concept!
So, download the level for the concept, and i would give the convept a jucie 7…
Download recomendation… Yes!
It is a nice little CTF level, with tons of eye candy. (YIPES! I don’t stand a chance in this contest!)
However, there is one small bug. You can get stuck (By that I do not mean the sticky bug stuck, I mean in a place that you cannot getout of) at pos 1,55. There is a secret place you can enter the wall and you get ammo, but you can’t jump out! You should fix that.
No storyline to speak of, and boring.
JSZ Jazz, I know you hate this thing(me too :P) but that’s a PERSONAL ATTACK!
Oh, now I review THIS thing:
So, this is just a waste of
bandwidth because this has a
picture of what-is-that, cat
and mouse. It just says that
you should mail him if you don’t
know how to do tilesets.

Bad. Level is short and boring cause there are too many enemies in same place. And level is too simple.
Boss arena is too small. And there aren’t next level. So wacky.
And I also see that you have made same mistake like me. Cause I didn’t know that I couldn’t rate my own levels. I removed my ratings. You too, that’s the real choice. You have done it, good.
And you should practice to make more interesting and bigger levels.

W0000tt! This rule.

Swing it out.
I like your second CTF.
It’s a open level, and i like open levels. So..
Eyecandy: There’s nice eyecandy, can better, but nice. Everywhere sucker tubes, CtF base in the ground (you see only a whipping knee of Eva), and overall pretty nice.
Gameplay: Okay, but there are lots of dead ends. Yesh, there are Pu’s or ammo then, but it is a dead end. Pretty okay.
Weapon placement: Very good. There are everywhere random placed Pu’s and ammo. Nice!
Overall: A pretty nice level. Orginal rating was a 7.7, but i’m happy today so here’s a 8. [This review has been edited by Taz]
Your 1st ehh, not too bad. But you made several mistakes, which i’ll help you fix. So right now i’ll have to give a low rating, i’ll increase it after you fix the level.
-Level too small, increase the size of the level, and remember not to make it Linear (going in one direction).
-Too much of the same weapons, lower the amount of weapons you have.
-Spread out the weapons throughout the level.
-Eye Candy needs improvement, look at the levels: Castle1, & Battle1. Use your Eye Candy like how they did or be creative!
-Lack of tiles, try to use as much tiles in the tileset as possible.
-Event shortage, add more events! You can use stuff like food, powerups, but don’t use shields!
-No start position, that’s a problem. Place the event ‘MP Start position’, or you’ll get an Access Violation in Multiplayer.
-Filename way too long, just rewrite the filename (not the level name).
-Don’t put an official level as your next level, instead link the level up to itself. Type in (your rewritten filename) in the Next Level box of Level Properties.
Alright that’s about it, good luck at improving! Ok Jman I guess I was a little low then a 2.2[This review has been edited by JJ Tublear]
It doesn’t work. It tells me to run Jazz2, but Jazz 2 IS running. Is it expecting JJ2 to be in a different folder? Or is it stupid XP?
W00t! A new cellybelly! YESH! YESH! YESH!!!
Ahem. Let’s see..
It’s a nice little level witrh the Corrupted Sanctuary (no Corruppted, CelL) tileset by Dishguise.
It haves nice lighting, don’t set Ambient lighting out. I don’t see the Access Violation in your tunnel. Very good gameplay, but don’t play it with more then 6-8 players. That makes it confusing.
The weapon placement rule. Everywhere weapons, nice placed (Duh). Only, i can get the PU’s in 3 seconds.
Overall: A new Mega-Celly-Belly-super-da-woop-wap-Cell-level. Win the contest with this!
Cracks his knuckles ready to do another review Okay, another Cell level, we just can’t get enough. ;P
Eyecandy- Very good use of the tileset. Not too simple, there is a large variety of different tiles scattered, (not randomly) throughout the level. I didn’t notice any eyecandy mistakes, pretty much just a nice simplicity without too much blinding foreground and such. Good use of layer 3, using tiles to cover certain platforms to make the level look more interesting. The backround is just beaiutiful, with it being paralaxed, and a few raindrops in the sky to add the perfect touch. Also, an amount of layer 5 blocks were added to create pleasure to the eye, and also creativity. When I turned on the Ambient lighting option, I was just stunned. The flames glowed, and the lighting produced such a realistic feeling in the level. I was very impressed with this.
Gameplay- I can’t say too much about the gameplay besides very good. The level is Jazz friendly, and there are no deadends or points in the level that make you stop dead in your tracks. Very smooth, and a bit flat. Not too many curves, not too flat. I’d say it’s balanced out pretty good. Springs are convieniantly placed. No problems there.
Weapons/Placement: Perfect. A large variety of weapons, scattered throughout the level in different shapes and forms. There are only two powerups, but two is more than enough for such a small level. Again, I didn’t see any problems there.
Chromosphere is the ideal level for a 1vs1 duel in CTF. I wouldn’t say it’s good for anything more than that because of its size. Excellent level, Cell. Download recommendation? Yes!Umm… There already IS a tileset called Blue World in my JJ2 folder (A much larger and most likely better one also), and they have the same filename
What a stupid level. I completed it in 2 minutes without a problem. It’s shorter than Spaz’s brain widht. And as Moonblaze (aka Zarch) said, Jazz lives in a castle now. Maybe his parents are in the rabbit hole, but not him and Eva, so… this level is boring, short, stupid and wicked.
2 is the highest rate I can give to this level. You’re lucky I have a nice day today.
Level is very good but tileset is bad very bad ther are not so many colours in it.
