===================================================== NIGHTFALL IN NOOBLAND ===================================================== 2007 (a bit) - 2008 by Unhit of [TF] BASIC INFO ---------- Filename: uctf05.j2l Tileset used: Carrot1N.j2t Music used: ctparade.it LEVEL STATS ----------- 1 Blaster Powerup 1 Bouncer Powerup 1 RF Powerup 1 Toaster Powerup 2 Carrots 4 Fast Fires 4 Warps 6 Weapon Types: Bouncer, Freezer, Seeker, RF, Toaster and Electro-Blaster WHY NUMBER 5? WHERE ARE 2-4? ---------------------------- This lvl is named uctf05 because after finishing Knightmare Castle (uctf01), i had started three other CTF levels for a little pack. Since I never finished these all these years back then, but wanted to finish them some time, I decided this level should become 05 and I'd try to release a pack...some time. Expect the worst ;). THOUGHTS ABOUT THE LEVEL ------------------------ The idea of the level was similiar to that of Knightmare Castle, simply because i lacked creativity ;P. I wanted a rather small, pretty symmetrical, open and fast-paced level. Nightfall in Noobland is actually a bit larger than Knightmare Castle, and also due to the different layout it should be suited for games with more than 4 players even. Gry pointed out that he found it a nice idea that the bases were dead ends. Until then, I had not planned them to be and hadn't really realized they somewhat were, but nevertheless, the way they are, they were planned to be. The tunnel below the bases connecting them was meant to be the second entry. After the first online test i added the wind there because you could score too fast that way ;P. The freezers were added with the winds and replaced pepper spray. Freezers can make fighting in the wind a lot of fun, and they are also pretty funny when fighting on top of the platform and your opponent gets hit and falls deep ;). The little rooms for the upgrades as well as the area around the carrot warps (well, they are close to each other anyway) are meant to be campable areas, especially for the flag carrier. Since both carrots can be shot down, causing them to fall closer to your base, carrot-camping can be countered quite effectively. The upgrade rooms can be attacked with electro-blaster and bouncies (i admit it's a bit harder to attack the toaster room with bnc, but once you know how, it's also easy), thus being able to take the upgrades and providing backup for a teammate rushing in to attack the camper or kill him/her directly.. So much about my thoughts ;P SHOUTOUTS AND GREETINGS ----------------------- Thanks a lot to all of my betatesters! (in alphabetical order) Anubis cooba Lejdi Grytolle Paul Shaney Shinto Stijn Vegito ...and all those who played in the public server Lejdi hosted :). I hope I forgot none! Big thanks especially go to Grytolle for helping improve the gameflow and important hints about the tactics, Stijn for graphic tipps and cooba for general advices. But of course I'm also very grateful to everyone else who helped testing the map while playing it and for all their positive feedback. Thank you all! Enjoy playing the level. Maybe it will be as successful as KMC or maybe even more....well I'm allowed to dream, right? Have fun! - Unhit
