Episode 1: Turtle Terror | PT32 | Single player | 7.6 |
TURTLE_________ ____________terror README PT32, 4/13/2010 2007-10 That's how long I've been working on the Jackpack level restoration project. 3 long years. This is the first full episode to be released, the 99.9999% Jazzically accurate pack. The most precise version of Jazz 1 besides the game itself to be produced. I've spent roughly at least 80 SOLID hours (not all at the same time!) slaving away at this pack, and even put aside my singleplayer endeavours to finish it. Ah well. It probably won't happen anyway. And all this for episode one. . . Of ELEVEN. . . But anyways, here it is. Turtle Terror, the first Jazz episode. EDIT: 1.1 **Fixed the waterfalls, so now they are partially translucent. Levels contained herein: Diamondus 1----------------------------1-1diam1.j2l Diamondus 2----------------------------1-1diam2.j2l Diamondus 3 (secret level)----------1-1diam3.j2l Tubelectric 1----------------------------1-2tube1.j2l Tubelectric 2----------------------------1-2tube2.j2l Medivo 1----------------------------------1-3med1.j2l Medivo 2----------------------------------1-3med2.j2l Medivo Guardian------------------------1-3medboss.j2l A song and a tileset from each is also included. And a free medium sized order of fries comes too! (Oops, wait, I already ate 'em... nvm) I also added pictures of all the baddies from Episode 1, just because I could... And because I had the space. SOME ISSUES THAT ARE KNOWN, HENCELY BECOMING KNOWN ISSUES: First off, the secret level. It (And maybe Medivo...Yeah, I think so too) is exactly 100% accurate, right down to the final eeeevil diamond. Check in J1CS. You'll find that I'm right. [5 minute pause] I told you so. You think designing singleplayer levels is fun? This is a totally different experience, and will make you go INSANE, as it has done to me. Ah, the things I do... But I digress. The secret level is not very fun to play, as the bird sadly cannot shoot in this game (Which kills about 3/4 of the secret level, and incidentally blocks one of the routes to the end. Don't panic! There's another way.), I included it just so you would have it. And to defeat the giant turtle boss in it, you had to be able to shoot. I added a revert morph so's you could at least do that. Defeat the boss, that is. Let's see, what else... I ended up having to completely rebuild Medivo 2 because I epic failed on a couple of hallways, thusly narrowing the level and thusly botching it beyond repair. Which is too bad, because I had spent a LOT of time making it... But it's fixed now. Diamondus itself (the two main levels, not counting the secret one) took about a quarter of the time for the whole pack to make. Look at how freakishly big they are, and you'll see why! :( I got partways into building Tubelectric 1 when I realized that I had been constructing Tubes 1 and 2 with different tilesets. EEP!!! I had to switch to just one set and fix all the animations, whereupon I discovered I had made a repeat blunder in the first level similar to the one in Medivo 2, but thankfully on a much smaller scale, so I only had to rebuild a minimal part of the level. Phew! Speaking of Tubelectric, I know the set is at best adequate and at worst has some raw spots but it's the best Tube conversion out there right now, and since I've gotten so far into this [At the time I write this paragraph, I am finished with Tube 2 and about 1/4-1/3 through Tube 1], I will continue to do so. (I'm already going to have to rebuild both Fanolint levels for Episode 3, since a newer and far superior conversion by Minmay is out and the old one is horrid. Poor me...) I finished building levels on April 13th, which also happens to be my bro's birthday! Happy B-day, man! CREDIT CARDLESS CREDIT DEBT: Tks to God first and foremost, for giving me time to do this (and for not frying me with a big lightning bolt when I did this instead of homework. Yeah, I REALLY appreciate that.). Forever yours! A big tankadayou to my friend and fellow Jazz1 compatriot Sonicnathan 1 for reminding me about the 1.23 converter and checking up on me to make sure I was actually working on this, and not doing something else... Kudos to the Epic team that made the EPIC game of Epic Epicrabbit, and also Jazz Jackrabbit. All three of 'em [I dunno about the GB game.... :P]. You have created a hardcore group of video game fans that NO other game could share... An even bigger thankya goes out to the INSANE and totally whacked team who made the J1CS editing program. As much good as J1E is (and good it IS), I like J1CS better because it is easier to use and has some sentimental value, being around longer for me to use than J1E. Although J1E DOES have animation pictures, which is MASSIVELY helpful in customizing work. But that's not my job here. Thanks anyway. (BTW, your level list in the editor is a wee bit off. Chrysilis does not actually have a secret level. Battleships does. :P) Thanks 2 all da tileset designers and music converters! This OBVIOUSLY never would have been possible without you. Tankys to the creator of the 1.23'ifyer without whom I would be heavily reliant on Sonic for converting work. And that would bog him down. So thanks for making a nice, easy and reliable tool that works well for the job. Thank you to my dog, for being SO CUTE!!!!! Thanks to anyone else I forgot and would feel bad if I left out. You know your names. And lastly but certainly not leastly, thanks to all you fans of Jazz 1 and Jazz2 (And maybe, just maybe, of me--Though I doubt it :P) who keep downloading this drivel over and over and over and over and over again! You are the ones who keep Jazz at 5 hearts with carrots to spare. I could never thank you enough. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you..... Go play the pack now. -PT P.S.-There's no real password on any of the JP levels. Just hit enter to get in. =) P.P.S.- DON'T OPEN ANY OF THESE LEVELS WITH THE 1.24 JCS UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PACK TO BE A TSF ONLY EPISODE!!!!! I have learned that the hard way.
