ATTENTION! Forest.zip is the second update to Blade's Battle Pack #2. It has only the files what are needed to run new Forest levels. Make sure that you have Blade's Battle Pack 2 and Woodlands add-on pack in your Jazz2 folder. Otherwise you can't do anything with this update. Read this document carefully. 2001 Blade's Battle Pack Vol #2: Expanded Version -------------------------------------------- By: Blade This battle pack includes: - 32 Battle levels - 9 tilesets - 8 music files Levels File nameName of the lvlSize (in kilobytes) -------------------------------------------- AztecBattle.j2l"Andes Mountains"9 kb AztecBattle2.j2l"Abandoned Ancients"9 kb AztecBattle3.j2l"Ancient Ruins"7 kb AztecBattle4.j2l"The Pillars"8 kb BetonBattle.j2l"Hills Of Beton"8 kb BetonBattle2.j2l"Beton Valley"9 kb BetonBattle3.j2l"Asphalt Jungle"8 kb BetonBattle4.j2l"Cold As Asphalt"6 kb RocksBattle.j2l"Hard Rock"7 kb RocksBattle2.j2l"Bash By A Boulder"6 kb RocksBattle3.j2l"Stone Smashing"5 kb RocksBattle4.j2l"Pertified Rabbit"4 kb GlacierBattle.j2l"Frosty Fighting"11 kb GlacierBattle2.j2l"Feeling Chilly"11 kb GlacierBattle3.j2l"The Fields Of Ice"5 kb GlacierBattle4.j2l"The Iceberg"6 kb DesertBattle.j2l"Burning Desert"9 kb DesertBattle2.j2l"Completely Deserted"9 kb DesertBattle3.j2l"Quick Sands"6 kb DesertBattle4.j2l"Cactus Combat"6 kb WasteBattle.j2l"Black Metal"6 kb WasteBattle2.j2l"The Corkscrew"5 kb WasteBattle3.j2l"Top Secret Technology" 7 kb WasteBattle4.j2l"Pipe Frenzy"6 kb WoodBattle.j2l"Woody Landscape"6 kb WoodBattle2.j2l"Wooden Rabbit"6 kb WoodBattle3.j2l"World Of Wood"7 kb WoodBattle4.j2l"Wacky Wood Warrior"6 kb ForestBattle.j2l"Firestorm Forest"6 kb ForestBattle2.j2l"Forbidden Land"7 kb ForestBattle3.j2l"Greenlands"6 kb ForestBattle4.j2l"Fragile Nature"6 kb Tilesets File nameSize -------------- Aztec.j2t46 kb Beton.j2t31 kb Beton Night.j2t31 kb Desert.j2t51 kb Forest.j2t122 kb Glacier.j2t42 kb Rocks.j2t31 kb Wasteland.j2t50 kb Woodlands.j2t44 kb Music files File nameThe Real nameSizeStyle of the track ------------ ------------- ---- ------------------ Azworld.j2b"World Of Dreams"711 kbDream/Techno Challenger.j2b"Challenger's Course"1 372 kbGame/Demostyle Dreamland.j2b"Dream Land"286 kbTechno/Trance/Dance Mysterious.j2b"Mysterious Times"975 kbAmbient/Fantasy Qsystem51.j2b"System 51"739 kbDemo/Rock Scndtime.j2b"Second Time"718 kbRock/Funk Splanet.xm"Summer Planet"1 162 kbTrance/Dance Static.j2b"Static Universe"758 kbDance And this readme file. Ah, I give up. The tilesets won't never ready. There's always something to add or fix. This pack includes 8 custom music pieces. I apologize the size of the pack. Please read "Tileset Information" section, there is more info about the tilesets. Have a nice playing time. Please play in 16-bit mode, if possible. Yes, I made the warp backgrounds work in 8-bit modes, but everything looks too sharp (Gems, transparencies, warp backgrounds...etc) in these low-bit-modes. The starting level is not very important anymore, but the pack starts from level "Andes Mountains" (AztecBattle.j2l) You can start playing from other levels too. The levels are mixed. !NOTICE THIS PLEASE! For level makers and everybody else: If you are making level using my tileset and don't know all the tricks how to use these sets, or just want to see how I made these levels, this can help you. Password to all levels in this pack is still simply "blade". But some of the levels doesn't have password at all (the newer ones). ---> And please let me know, if you are releasing a level what uses my tileset in Jazz2Online or in somewhere else. I will rate every single one. <--- For those people who want to know how I made these tilesets: I Just used 4-years old Paint Shop Pro v4.14. I used just regular brush. No any filters or other technical stuff. If you have any questions or comments, send an email to me. (svesanen@hotmail.com) And please do not ask about the music looping bug. Some of the musics won't loop, and the reason probably is in the modules I converted to be JJ2 compatible. Notice: Levels and tilesets are made with Jazz Jackrabbit version v1.23. tileset Information ------------------- 1. Aztec (1998-2001) --------------------- - Was my first tileset ever released. - It's an old tileset, over two years. - Aztec is in reality my second or third tileset (I don't remember, because I had in 98-99 three tilesets). But only it made the way through to Universe Jazz. I took the blue warpbackground and the mountains from my "Bay" tileset (I realized the W-BG's techniques in that tileset by the way). Bay tileset had only little count of colors, so it looked pretty poor. From the other tileset, "A-Space" I didn't took anything. It was a try to make a space tileset. There was copied pictures like planets. - It had lots of versions. The first Aztec had only 370 tiles. - It was original JJ2 uncompatible. (I made the first release with The Secret Files) - Now my second largest tileset, 470 tiles. - First time released: 24.2.2000, Website was "Universe Jazz". 2. Beton and Beton Night (2000-2001) ------------------------------------- - My second tileset. - I you wonder what does "Beton" mean, the answer is here. In that time I didn't have so much skills in english that I have now. "Betoni" is a finnish word and it means concrete. I though that I have a english word if I take the "i" out (Many words in finnish can turn to english like that). That's the little story of my second tilesets. - The first Beton tilesets had about 400 tiles. - Now these are pretty big ones, 450 tiles. - These tilesets were too v1.23 uncompatible. - First time released couple of weeks before 8.3.2000 (This one is the 2nd release's date, sorry, couldn't find the original one.) Universe Jazz was the site where the release was. 3. Rocks (2000-2001) --------------------- - My third one. - This one has always been my smallest tileset, 270 tiles. - Has two working warp backgrounds. Yay. - This one was v1.23 uncompatible. (Now my all releases are made with old and good v1.23) - Released first time: 14.6.2000, Universe Jazz. 4. Glacier (2000-2001) ----------------------- - My fourth tileset. - Not very big one, I think, but it has all you need making a freezing ice level. 390 tiles. - The tileset was even smaller when it was released first time: 320 tiles. - The last TSF release. - First release date was 7.9.2000, my first release at Jazz2Online. 5. Desert (2000-2001) ---------------------- - My fifth tileset. - I used lots of time making this one ready. - This was my first original JJ2 (v1.23) compatible release. - The original Desert tileset had 430 tiles. - Now it has 450 tiles. - First releasing date: 29.9.2000, Jazz2Online. 6. Wasteland (2000-2001) ------------------------- - My next release, 6th. - A techno stylish tileset. - First release used the original JJ2. - The stuff for layers five and six made in July, 2001. - So the tileset has now 440 tiles. - Before the background stuffs the tileset had 360 tiles. - First releasing date: 10.11.2000, Jazz2Online. 7. Woodlands (2001) -------------------- - My seventh tileset. - Started in 6th of february but was finished in the summer. - A weirdo tileset, the theme is somewhere between stone and wood. - Medium size tileset. Has 410 tiles. - First releasing date: 19.6.2001, the release site: Jazz2Online. 8. Forest (2001) ----------------- - The eighth tileset. - Started in 29th of june, and was officially finished 24th of august. After that I did little finetuning to the tileset. Newest version made in 30th august. Two months in development. - Tileset delayed with about 3 weeks in july because of my trip to Italy and I went to confirmation classes. We went to Lapland for 2 weeks. Man, I had so fun there. - Simply a tileset with forest tiles. There is grasses, trees, bushes etc. - Absolutely my largest tileset in tiles and in filesize!! Has 1010 tiles, what is near the limit of Non-TSF Jazz2. - The large tileset has its problems. There can be only thirteen animated tiles. - First releasing date: 1.9.2001, Jazz2Online. The number next to the tileset name means the developing year(s). More stuff I've made. --------------------- Another Dimension ------------------ - The biggest ever released single player episode; 27 levels, plus 7 secret ones. - All JJ2's tilesets are used. (Plus TSF tilesets, Holiday Hare '98 tilesets and Mez's masterpieces) - Lots of high quality custom music. - The Secret Files is needed (v1.24). - Available at Jazz2Online (http://www.jazz2online.com) In pieces. The Xmas Pack (By Wille and Me) -------------------------------- - Has 8 large christmas levels and 2 awesome secret levels. - 5 levels made by Wille, 5 made by me. - Uses cool Holiday Hare '98 tilesets, except the secret levels (Green Hill and MEZ03a). - 3 rocking music pieces. - Because of christmas enemies the pack needs The Secret Files (v1.24). - The Xmas Pack available at Jazz2Online. The pack is uploaded using Wille's name. Coming Sooooooon ---------------- - I think now's the time for making a single player episode. The name of the pack will be "Energized Action". I'll start working it now when the 8th tileset, Forest is ready. The release day will be somewhere approximately in September or October? It will have approx. 9 big levels. - After SP-pack it will be time for the 9th tileset maybe. There is little plan how will it look like. The theme could be some seaside place or seashore. Tileset coming somewhere in November or December. Contact Info ------------ Tilesets & battle levels by: Blade (Sampo Vesanen) from Finland.
