Playing God:A tileset... | Piccolo | Tileset | 6.2 |
-------------------------------HAND DRAWN---------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ by:Piccolo --------------------------------------------- 1.Intoduction: Piccolo, the downloader; the downloader,Piccolo;pleasure to meet you. :) 2.About the tileset: The tileset HandDrawn is a very special tileset,as it was drawn by hand(duh). It took me half a day to finish(that's NOT much!),but it still looks cool! The only things I had to do: 3.The Tutorial: The whole thing is as easy as stealing a lolly from a kid.(A really HUGE kid maybe...:) The only things you need are: A sheet of paper,a scanner, pens,MS Paint and a tiny bit of experience with the prog. Now open the tileset via JCS and watch me explain: The earth tiles at the top were simply made out of a brown square painted with a felt-pen on a sheet of paper. I scanned it,opened MS Paint and made a blank area of 32*X * 32*X pixels(you'll have to know a little mathematics,ya know) Then I just put it in and saved it as a 256 colours Bitmap. Grass was the same with green and darker green. The rock tiles were all made with a pencil, even the marble-like thingies. They were supposed to be grey, too, but the computer turned the light pencil-grey into,uh,that colour. Don't ask why!:) The blocks are made with a dark and a lighter blue, the darker one used to put stripes in. The way cool sky tiles(they're even texturable!!:)were made with a normal, light blue pencil. The clouds are what you get if you make pencil-grey too light, the scanner won't see it! The cool water was made by a huge square made with one of those thick, waterproof felt-pens. Wood(looks stupid!),simply made with red. The background mountain was trickier: Using paint, you can easily find out what the needed area in pixels is in cm. With that info, you can make a fitting background. Logo was of course not self-drawn,and OF COURSE I also used some paint-tools to shape stuff and give it borders. But the rough stuff's all made by myself! NOTE:Converting something scanned into 256 colours may look different from putting it into a 256 coloursBitmap!!!!!!) NOTE:You don't even have to give things a pattern, the computer will automatically give it one. 4.Other Stuff: There's also a nice example level called "HDex.j2l" It uses the music file"FF2cid.it",taken from Final Fantasy3. That'S all. Say thank you!:)
