Believe it or not, but my favourite of all Tomb Raiders is the very first one (yeah, the one that actually didn't support any 3D drivers). But I enjoyed the game so much (as millions of other players) because it was NEW in those days. So what style do I mean? Puzzles, idols, boulders, moving blocks, and of course: TOMBS! The idea was to make a tileset like the Venice one (but then actually 'useful'), but somehow I failed to make screenshots in TR1 (guess I didn't try hard enough), so I made them (TWO tilesets) all by myself, except for a few tiles... - taken from original jj2 tilesets - some photos from Egyptian inscriptions and stuff (that's right, the WHOLE Tomb Rabbit game is in Egypt;) - the two snakes - the Donkey Kong Country background in the CAVE tileset and I kinda 'based' the tilesets on Tomb Raidertombs (just a little though) and on the puzzles I'd worked out before building the sets. You are free to use the tilesets in your own custom levels. I think they would work very well in battle levels too. You may find some of the animations hard to use, but you can always contact me for help. The level and tilesets are made in v1.23. The original idea was to make it in 1.24, and name it "Tomb Rabbit - Adventures of Lori Croft", but... not everybody has the secret files, and those who do can play it anyways. HOWEVER, some puzzles can't be solved by Lori because they require high jumping, shortly: you can't play this game with Lori Croft :( I might make an update to 1.24 (so Lori CAN play). Maybe. Since everybody has played "Another Story", everybody will recognize most of the music. Congrats to ALL the composers, they did a very good job! <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> GAMEPLAY <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> A little confusing? ONE level? TWO tilesets? Actually MORE than one .j2l-file... (17! - TRending=credits) what is this all about? Well it's actually one big level, and... eh... not... It just depends on how you look at it. The big idea is to find and destroy the Croaking Crystal. Since too many players were unable to finish TR4: The Last Revelation, Seth is still out there, and destroying this crystal will release a Goddess that will fight Seth. (Sounds rediculous? Sure, but what's a game without a story?) (eh... I don't need to know;) To find that Crystal you'll have to enter the Temple of the Croaking Crystal, but to get access to the temple, you need THREE KEYS, all three hidden in THREE OTHER TEMPLES. There is one CENTRAL CAVE, where youstart, in which you'll find the switches to open the entrances of each of the temples. It probably feels strange playing in that smaller screen, but don't worry, you'll get used to it pretty fast. - On the bottom of the screen you'll notice a few symbols. The LEFT, RED symbol shows in which TEMPLE you are. If you are in the central cave, there won't be any symbol. - In the MIDDLE you can see how many KEYS you have found yet. If 3 GREEN symbols are displayed, you should go to the central cave and find the entrance to the final temple, the Temple of the Croaking Crystal. - During play you'll find some more closed doors that require KEYS to be opened. If you find one of those, it is displayed to the RIGHT, a little, BLUE/GREEN symbol. This symbol will stay dis- played, even after using it, until another part of the game is loaded. Every time you enter a new temple, and sometimes during play, the LOADING screen appears. No, doesn't mean you won, just means you 're gettin into another area of the tombs and you're gettin just a little closer to the Crystal (those who played Tomb Raider 4 may know what I'm talking about :) You can play the game in normal or hard mode. Normal is very hard. That's right :) Hard is for when you really need to get frustrated :D <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> INTRODUCING A NEW ENEMY! <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> Well, maybe not, but it certainly 'looks' like it! I think my MUMMY is pretty cool (if you know how to handle it). You will have to make it to the very last temple if you wanna see it 'alive'! And people who ever played with the 16-bit SEGA (or with an emulator) may recognize the two snakes in the tilesets. They were taken from "Wonderboy III". They don't look great (and they don't quite 'act' great neither) but I put them in cause I like them (in an euphoric way - the good old days - sigh:) Obviously you can't kill the Mummy ('cause it's already dead;), and you can't kill the snakes because... eh you should respect a dying species like the Wonderboy snake;) <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> HELP! <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> I'm stuck --------- Need help finding your way through the Central Cave? Take a look at the Tomb Rabbit.doc file. Stuck in a puzzle? Tried for hours? Days? Ok, then you can send me a mail and I'll help you out. Don't forget to mention in what temple you are (red symbol), how many big (green) keys you have, if you have any small keys (if yes: which?), and a little description of the room (objects, enemies, tiles...) You could also ask me on JMMB. Known problems -------------- The mummies are nasty enemies: once they hit you, they might not wanna let go. DON'T JUMP when you're hit. Stand still until they let go! And whatever you do when you're cut by the knives, DON'T JUMP!!! If you jump, you will get stuck in the walls. What to do if you get stuck in the walls anyways? - type 'jjfly' - press DOWN and you'll go up (press RUN to go faster) - when you're out, type 'jjfly' twice With some computers, saving (F6) in the Central Cave or the last temple, may result in an Out of memory error message. Since you'll be spending quite some time in there, it might be useful to check first what happens with your computer if you try to save. If you get no errors what so ever, you're a lucky s*n *f a b****. Because of this error, I put more savepoints in the Central Cave than in the other levels (not too many though!) (also see "Hints" below). If you know the solution to this 'Amnesia' error, please contact me. Hints ----- Too difficult? Because there are so little carrots? Guess again... There are plenty of carrots, they're only hidden! Too difficult? Because there are so little savepoints? Maybe you're just too much use to easy and short levels! Tomb Rabbit is not a level that you finish in half an hour! Take your time! An obvious alternative for the savepoints, is SAVING the game (F6) every time you're about to enter, or you've finished a difficult part. Because of the Out of memory error however (see "Known problems"), there are more savepoints in the Central Cave than in the temples. As a bonus I added a hidden 1up pickup near every savepoint. (Only in the Central Cave!) The knives require a specific TIMING. Study the pattern at which they move. If you think there is no way through them, you can also look for alternative routes. There are clues everywhere! Look around, mind details... There are often alternative routes. <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> CREDITS <><><><><><><><><>< ;><><><><><><><><><&g t;<><><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><> JAZZ JACKRABBIT 2 ----------------- A game by Epic Megagames PUBLISHED BY Gathering of Developers EUROPEAN/AUSTRALIAN PUBLISHERS Project 2 Interactive B.V.
