All of the 9 l33t levels - (C) 2004 - Their respective creators. gg no re Readme - (C) 2004 - The Total Freaks Clan. I (guess who I am!) wrote most of this readme. None of the levels included in gg no re may be edited without their respective owner's consent. (Level-stealers must die!) The music and the tilesets used in this level pack are the property of their respective creators. All known music/tileset creators have been accounted for and credited. (GO THEM!!!) Blah Blah was planned, created and packaged by an international coalition of Freaks. :-) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Long, long, long, long introduction to Blah Blah, the multiplayer level pack: I looked at the date. It was the 20th of November. Hmm... 9 days till my birthday. I remembered creating my very own level pack, which was uploaded on my birthday almost 3 years ago. Nope, absolutely no chance of me getting together a level pack of acceptable quality within 9 days. Then I looked at the date again. It was still the 20th November. Huh! Wait a minute... That's over a month away from Christmas! Perhaps I could release a good level pack in time for Christmas! It was a perfectly feasible idea...except for that fact that I spent 3 months making my first level pack. I'm not some kind of level factory or JCS machine like CelL, I thought. He could whip a level up within 5 days although I do have to take into consideration the fact that his older levels, the ones he spent very little time on, were actually pretty crappy (HAHA!! J/k, CelL, you're an amazing JCSer :-P). Well, that's it, I thought. I can't finish one for Christmas either. But wait a minute, I'm in Total Freaks! I'm surrounded by great level makers!!! What if I get them to do the job for me??? (That's right, fellow Freaks, you are all pawns in my game of JCS domination!!! MUWHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!). I looked at the date. It was STILL the 20th of November. 1 level per person. 1 level within a month. Wow! Now that would be a good Christmas present to the JJ2 community! I quickly rushed to forums.totalfreaks.com (go visit it and while you're at it, also go to www.totalfreaks.com and check out Flash's brilliant handiwork! :-D). I created a new thread and wrote down what I thought of a Total Freaks level pack. I put down some loose guidelines for the rules and waited for the reply. Enigma was the first to swallow the bait. Then came Unhit and Flash. Finally, half the clan was involved. Well, almost half the clan. LabRatKiD was in, and so was Dalspots. Also, through an "accidental" loophole in the rules, CelL was also able to pitch and create a level for the clan. :-) The whole plan was to create two levels for Total Freaks' level pack. One battle and one CTF. Then we just put it in a zip, upload it at J2o and wait for the money...ahem...good ratings, and of course downloads, to flood in. (So you guys better flood...or else!). The rules were not strictly enforced and not everyone created two levels but it didn't matter since we ended up with so many great levels. Well... you can read on......................................................................... ............... or you can extract the files and start playing! What a tiring level, and it's not even as good as I had intended! I spent a LOT of time on this level, which is a shame because, in my opinion, the level is too small and I...just...cannot...fit all of the stuff into it! :-( It's all right, I guess and it has some rather interesting stuff like a story (yay!) and an original way of getting power-ups. Here's the story (it's bad, but it works :-P): Two prosperous mining villages in the golden Yellow Mountains were mysteriously abandoned. It turned out that the residents caught sight of invading rabbits, out to steal their precious money and to mine all the gold from Yellow Mountains. The residents of Totaltown and Freaksville would, of course, not stand it, so they barricaded their town and several key areas of Yellow Mountains to block the darn, pesky, rabbits. Unfortunately, their courage wavered after seeing those rabbits heavily armed with all sorts of weapons, so the residents fled their towns, leaving the rabbits, who weren't really allied with each other, to fight it out over all of the gold and silver coins in Yellow Mountains and its two towns. White Rabbit on Snowman's Land: This is a way better level than Gold Rush Mountains. As I was digging out old levels I made, in a desperate attempt to find inspiration, I found a level called wrbeton.j2l. I opened it up and found a half-finished CTF level. Hmm...this level isn't half-bad, I thought, so I decided to look for any other of my unfinished levels. I then found the answer to my problems: wrxmas2.j2l. It was the 2nd level of my aborted Christmas level pack I tried, in vain, to create in 2002. This level was less than half-finished and looked quite noobish. I could use the unfinished parts of this level as a framework, I thought. But then the unfinished parts aren't particularly good. And the level wasn't intended to be CTF in the first place. Pah! It's my level and I know exactly how to twist and turn it into a CTF level. So I did. :-) Have fun with this level, guys! Heheheheheh. Flash on Superslick Santa Showdown: You may recognize parts of this level while playing. That is because the level is actually a much much much bigger and better version of my old level "Molecular Moocows". Originally I planned to make a brand new level for the pack. I started on it and used the Inferno 1 tileset but I figured it would never be finished before the deadline, which was the 21st of december. So I opened Molecular Moocows (which I was by then already making bigger) and added some parts. The Tubelectric tileset however didn't really have a Christmasy feeling. I decided to edit the tileset so it would fit the theme of the level pack. I copied a snowman and some snow tiles from Inferno, darkened the palette and used it for my level. Voila: a level with, in my opinion, really nice eyecandy and the real "Christmas" feel. CelL on Winter Melody " Hoom hum. What can I say about this level? I havent really been active at making levels for a long time now, but since I havent really done much for TF in my time as a member, I decided to at least try and create something for this project. It turned out quite well, if I do say so myself Nothing spectacular, just a small CTF to enjoy (or not) during the holidays. I used the Holiday Hare 98 Night tileset, by Epic (which, if I may say, has some very nasty bugs in it =/). The music is a nifty module called Whole New World, tracked by Grymmjack of Revelation Music. Thats about all Ive got to say. A merry christmas and a happy new year to you all! Enjoy the levelpack, and untill next time! =) (Note: CelL has also created his own readme, just to increase the size of the level pack and push it one more step towards the 2mb J2o upload limit...) Enigma on Merry Hypothermia" Further thanks go to Cell and WR, for crushing my childish optimism about this level by pointing out a huge number of bugs. People who ask where the seeker powerup is will be shot without any form of trial (meaning that there is no seeker powerup, learn to play without it) and people who point out any more bugs beyond this point will be put in sealed plastic bags along with a dozen rabid weasels and locked in their basements until after the level has been released. That said, enjoy the level. Or don't. Have it your way. (Note: Enigma has also created his own readme, just to increase the size of the level pack and push it one more step towards the 2mb J2o upload limit...) LabRatKid on Algid Jollification: Unfortunatley, LabRatKid missed gg no re's upload and could therefore not write anything about his level in time. LabRatKid on Hyperborean Biosphere: Same as for above. Unhit on Worst Christmas Level Ever: I barely had any time at all to make my level, so I just made it on the very first day of my holidays - today. Therefore I decided to give the lvl this name which fits probably. It's no good level, but maybe it creates some christmas atmosphere anyway. no re ;D Dalspots on Blizzard Catastrophy: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Credits: Epic: For making JJ2, the Holiday Hare 98 tilesets, 3 awesome Christmas music files and that's about it. Violet: For making the JJ1 Holidauis converion. Disuise: For the Winterland Wonder tileset. Enigma had trouble dealing with the masking of it. A cliff kept slowing people down when you hit it with a spring. :-P LabRatKid: For making his Commander Keen conversion Keen 4 Ice. grymmjack: For the music Whole New World. Fernus: For composing chaos Surprise, which takes up about half of the level pack... :-S Jeroen Tel: For composing Mountain Breeze. Unknown composer: For composing Winters. Please don't sue us just because we didn't mention your name. We're more grateful thank you think. ;-) The whole Total Freaks Clan: For providing you with 50 megatonnes worth of the nuclear...er...level material you're currently sitting on. LabRatKid has been thanked twice now... :-D Everyone in the JJ2 community for downloading and playing this level pack, for their own level contributions of which we at TF could learn from and for...well, other nice stuff. :-D --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Final words, written by the Total Freaks' official mascot, :gg: - "Well, I can't make levels, I don't play JJ2 so all I can say is 'gg no re'!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------
