We haven’t checked in with Epic in a while, but it looks like their game Paragon has an open beta weekend going on. It looks like a video game. They’re also working on something called Spyjinx apparently? But it doesn’t seem to have any screenshots or anything, so I don’t know what to say there. Fortnite also doesn’t seem to have been released yet.

Don’t forget about Unreal Tournament a.k.a. UT4. It’s a free to play continuation of the arena shooter that’s entirely reliant on the modding community for content, while Epic just provides the infrastructure and oversees the project. If anything new Epic makes could be of interest to us, then it’s that! For all we know, we could get Carrotus in there as a map and/or a playable JJ character, all as long as someone is willing to make it, Epic has appeared pretty open to content submission using their IP’s.

Spyjinx is a litte unclear at the moment, maybe at E3 we get to see something? Fortnight has known gameplay but is awfully stingy at letting people into the beta testing. Paragon has a lot of free weekends lately, otherwise the cheapest way to get in is paying $20 (sometimes reduced to $10 during some free weekends) for a “Founder’s Pack” and you can play during the entire alpha season. It’s like any common MOBA game but in 3D, with some third person shooting elements and collectable cards that can change each characters stats. It’s pretty good for what it is I guess.

And last but not least, remember that Boss Key (the studio that reunited Arjan and Cliff) are going to show their game “Lawbreakers” at E3 and release it this year. It’s apparently an FPS with the option to “bend the laws of physics”. It’s not like we haven’t seen that before, but it’s still kind of intersting, especially if it gets a full featured story mode (though I doubt that).
