Some of you may have noticed that Jazz Jackrabbit 2’s serverlist – the address you connect to to get the list of online games – is no longer available via list.jazzjackrabbit.com.
This is not a problem if you are using JJ2+, since in that case you’re using another serverlist address which is still available. However, for people still running un-upgraded JJ2 this means that in practice they’ll be unable to play online games.
I have contacted Epic Games to ask whether they would be willing to fix the problem, but it’s a big company and JJ2 is an old game, and I don’t know how well this will work or how long it would take.
I’m mostly writing this newspost to dispel rumours that jazzjackrabbit.com is somehow no longer owned by Epic. It is, they just transferred the registration to a company specialized in managing domains for companies like Epic. So no worries on that front.

Perhaps try contacting Nimrod on Digiex.net or maybe Xbox Live where he resides a lot lately. He used to have contact with at least 2 people at Epic to get this redirect going in the first place. I believe one of those was Cliff who has left the company. If the other person was Rod then we may have a problem.
All it really takes is resetting the redirect on the domain’s new DNS server. If the domains are managed by a third party on Epic’s behalf, and Epic’s newbies haven’t got a clue what Jazz2 and it’s listserver is, it may be quite hard to get it done indeed.

Nimrod’s contacts unfortunately no longer work at Epic.
I’ve sent Epic a message detailing how it would be a small change to make, etc, but as I don’t have a way in except their general contact form I’m not sure how succesful it will be.

Sounds like kind of a problem. There are still frequently new players joining servers, mostly playing in co-op. Even if 1% decides to come back more often it will still be a waste.
