As was the case a couple years ago, Jazz Jackrabbit will be featured in this winter’s edition of the Awesome Games Done Quick marathon.
Games Done Quick is a series of charity video game marathons. These events feature high-level gameplay by speedrunners raising money for charity. Games Done Quick has teamed up with several charities in its six-year history, including Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
JJ1 will be speedrun by CapnClever.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is also on the list of games to be played.
Ah yeah, I was meant to make this kind of newspost weeks ago, but I got lazy. I was also going to mention there’s also a very dedicated JJ1 runner out there by the name of SimonN who currently holds the WR of 29:57:48. Here it is!
I still wish jj2 would have a speedrun on AGDQ :(… I feel like it’s more known too, but maybe not in the US
Violet, well…

Nah.
Lovely.
Primpy: I don’t think the point of AGDQ is setting world records.
^ Ehh, true, but it’s still not a game I’m really looking forward to see for some reason…
That’s fine. I mention it just because it’s a game with community ties.
Still I was hoping they’d do a glitchless run of Ori, which is more fun to watch. Seems like they will. The whole point is to show off gaming skills, and skipping over half of the game doesn’t accomplish that imo.
@Slaz Actually, some glitches can take more skill to pull off. Sure, they’re usually not as fun to watch, but it’s a common misconception that using glitches automatically means less skill is involved.
@Trey That’s true. But I guess I’m mostly into ‘superplays’ then. That’s players pulling off perfect gameplay and/or amazing tricks that makes it entertaining to watch. Sometimes speedruns go hand in hand with superplay, but using (hard or not) glitches to skip gameplay is not really my cup of tea. Superplays may use glitches that are hard to pull off, but the point is to reach the ending with extraordinary skill and not to reach it as quickly as possible.
Scrolling shooters are a typical exampel of a genre that’s usually nonsensical or plain boring to speedrun but very satisfactory to superplay. For platformers, a good example would be this Super Mario World speedrun using the all exits & dragon coins category: https://youtu.be/r7nCFjZP2hE
For those who missed it, here’s this quite entertaining run archived:

The run starts at about 01:49:00.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u1gEQxq24g A reupload of the record. Just Jazz and the better video player.
@TreyLina – I actually enjoy glitch runs more than I enjoy actual runs. They’re very clever and hard to pull off.
I think the part that blows my mind the most is how fast he button mashes.
remember when the keyboard broke on the original stream? XD
