BlurredD has released a new version of JJ2+. There are no new gamemodes in this one, but there are a lot of bugfixes. The biggest thing in this release is probably the addition of mp3 support (among other formats).

You can get JJ2+ here.

I find it a bit impractical to use the .mp3 function… Let’s face it, the addition of .mp3 files is most useful for single players (think epic background music, voice acting). Of course this was all possible before with mod files, but now it is more accessible.

While this is all nice and awesome, most older SP packs use tricks like the flag-instadeath instead of pits, stuff like that that doesn’t work anymore in Plus. That’s why I feel a bit awkward of using Plus for single player, since 1) I’d be the first and 2) all other SP packs have to be played in JJ2 1.23 anyway.

This was a bug in older versions of JJ2+ and fixed quite a while ago. All single player levels should work fine with the current release.

I’ve been toying around with some mod files yesterday, but even though I haven’t really figured out how Bass is actually different from Galaxy, it indeed sounds a little better on higher volume. Also, some older samples from older mod files are ‘recognized’ differently in bass and are either more ‘fresh’ or less ‘scratchy’. Nothing bad after all! The mp3 support is a nice thing even though it’s a little odd to listen the current hitline under JJ2 matches..

1. the mp3 is just for demo style music unless you don’t have it in other format.. not for your fav music.

2.the BASS reads mods effects galaxy couldn’t read at all…try chiptunes and you hear the difference. galaxy made the notes sound awfully. so yes.. there is a Huge difference.

Uh… who says we can only use “demo style music” for our levels?
