Jazz2Online news for June 2009

Permalink Absurd. July 11th 2009

I was browsing GameFAQs in my free time, and was very surprised to see an article titled, The Top 10 Rabbits in Video Games. I was even more disappointed when I realized that Jazz Jackrabbit was #3. That’s right. NUMBER THREE. Some jerk named Max, who’s ever heard of him, got number two. Who cares. And number one. READER RABBIT? Like, REALLY? Reader Rabbit? I mean, I loved that game when I was a kid, but… Anyway, that’s just ridiculous, but if anyone is interested, the article is here:

Permalink Episode Five announced June 7th 2009

Source: JCF Thread

After over a year of wait, the final part of EvilMike’s singleplayer series has been finally announced on the JCF: The Fortress of Ruin is planned to be released by the end of June.

The final confrontation with Devan Shell is near. You have traveled to the planet Nippius where it said that he hiding, but something very strange is going on there. You’re going to need to take a few detours, it seems…

This is by far the longest episode, and personally I feel it’s the best one. I used almost all of the ideas I had, and unlike the previous episodes, refused to place any limits on myself when it came to plot or setting. Everything I wanted to get done is in here, and I’m glad I managed to do it.

Update: It has been released.

Permalink Anonymous Tournament December 3rd 2009

Feel like playing something new? While most tournaments offer just battle or CTF duels, in the BlitzAnon tournament you will be allowed to play any game mode of your (or of your opponent’s) choice. A big role is given to chance.(Levels/game modes are randomly chosen if players are unable to agree on anything)

And for the fun element, you’ll duel under a fake identity. Nobody will know who you are but you won’t know who you are against either.
Another keyword is fast. Most big contests fail because people get bored of them and start delaying their matches. You will just play one singe game against your opponent in the fastest way possible.

I would definitely recommend you at least having a look at the tournament at JCF .
So, if you want to try something new and exciting then the BlitzAnon tourney is the one to choose.

Permalink Jazz Jackrabbit on iPhone? June 1st 2009

Source:

A mysterious twitter message talks about an iPhone port of Jazz Jackrabbit:

Awesome (on NL Game Veterans day): Killzone’s Arjan Brussee talks enthusiastically about his iPhone port of Jazz Jackrabbit

What exactly this means we can only guess. Shadow and FQuist tried to get more out of this rebelalfons guy, but got no more information, so whether this really means a port of Jazz Jackrabbit to Apple’s mobilophonoconsole is in the works remains a matter of speculation.

On the one hand, a game so tied to Microsoft (Epic) and Sony (Guerilla) appearing on an Apple device seems unlikely… on the other hand stranger things have happened (like the Monkey Island remake being announced today). We’ve seen statements like this leading to nothing earlier (remember CliffyB’s “I’m talking about something with Noogy, but it’s superearly” from a few years back)? Anyway, either way it’s Jazz-related news, so there you go ;)
