The reason why Nagcentral.com was censored is because it used to be a viagra-advertising site. Obviously it shouldn’t appear in links either then as it would link people to bad sites. ~Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp

Is the Mercenaries site a bad site then? Doesn’t look it to me. I still think the censor should stay clear of links and html – on the JCF it blocked a link to the BOFH pages. ~BoggyB

It’s not a bad site. The domain it was hosted on was bought by a viagra advertising company and thus visiting the site may make you view content that J2O doesn’t want to link to. And even if it wasn’t – swear words in hyperlinks are just as visible as normal swear words (clicking them will make the swear words show up in the address bar, hovering them will make it show up in the status bar). Please let’s not turn this in another useless discussion about the J2O censor. ~Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp

If you go to their site using the link given (obviously the uncensored version), then you’ll see one of two things. Either a) you’ll see the Mercenaries clan page, or b) you’ll see a page from the Internet Archive saying that the site wasn’t archived or was removed. You won’t see anything else unless you manually changed the URL in your browser (or of course if someone’s hacked you or a relate server, but at that point it’s out of the control of J2O). So I personally don’t see anything that would be gained by censoring the link. If people are worried about what others might do by changing the URL in the address bar of their browser, then a note could be added saying “Warning: the original domain for MERC has been bought out by a adult services advertiser. The link given links to the Internet Archive as a result of this.” ~BoggyB

Still, one will see the original address and if he’s as curious as I usually am also visit it. The note will only encourage little kids (which is the reason the censor is there) to do so. I know that’s a little far-fetched, but a lot of reasons for censoring are, and if the censor doesn’t apply to this we might as well turn it off – and it’s not just about this wiki, but about both J2O and JCF, so it shouldn’t be listed as a wiki bug. I’m having a hard time seeing what all this discussion is about.. anyways, I’ll try to say something: I would agree with Flash that this is not a wiki-specific bug. It’s however something that we should think about. It’s hard to adapt the censor to work for archive.org links to nagcentral but not for nagcentral (non archive.org version) itself, however, it’s possible for us to take nagcentral out of the censor since the site seems nonharmful right now (not much gained by censoring thus). I’ll throw it up for discussion it with the crew. Those are the issues relevant to this wiki, for discussion about no censor use in html/links (hard to make) I guess it’s best to start a JCF thread. This discussion is getting a little too long to have on the bug page ~Fquist

The behaviour of the (cur), (last) etc links

• The (cur) link on the Recent Changes page points to the diff page (should point to current article version)

The way it is now is supposed to be the actual behaviour of the (cur) link. It compares the selected version to the current, newest one. (last) compares it to the last one. (cur) linking to the current article version was a placeholder. However, I like the idea of putting a link to the current version of the entry on recent changes.. still have to think of where to put that. ~Fquist

Ah, I see now. The change was a bit confusing as it happened without any announcement, and suprised me a bit. How about (cur), (prev) and (diff)? (cur=current version, last=diff with previous version, diff=diff with current version) ~BoggyB

Yeah, I should’ve announced it. I don’t know about your suggestion. The way it’s done now it’s the way wikipedia does it, and it seems to make more sense to have the diff commands named after what they compare to: cur for the current version and last for the last version. Having “diff” compare to the current version, sounds counterintuitive. It is a diff function yes, but “last” is too. I’m inclined to put the link somewhere else but I’m not sure where. Things quickly look too crowded with such a small page width… the way it looks now doesn’t really work that much either :/ ~Fquist

HTML “select” jumpbox containing “Current version”, “Compare with current version”, etc? Just “L”, “C”, and “D”? Clicking the entry name takes you to the newest version, (cur) to the comparison between the current version and the clicked version, with a dropdown box to choose the page the clicked version is compared with?
