Michiel Ouwehand was one of the programmers for the game that joined Jazz Jackrabbit 2's development team full-time. He, along with Arjan, decided to cut up Jazz Jackrabbit 2's code into a number of areas. Each of them would program and maintain certain areas. For example, Arjan would do all of the networking and gameplay, and Michiel Ouwehand would do any Win32 or parallax engine-related code which Arjan wasn't able to do.
In the beginning, Michiel worked off-site, or at home, and only part-time. Because Michiel did not have all of his time to devote to this project, he decided to work for Arjan. He made some code and expanded it as needed. Arjan would send him bug reports and ideas on the programming of the game and Michiel would do the same. Later on, Michiel started working full-time at the office. He and Arjan could the work on the same code base at the same time. Changes to the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 code were also immediate, thus increasing development speed.
