The Elemental Clan, which is usually mentioned with its abbreviation TEC, was one of the more active Jazz Jackrabbit 2 clans for several years.

History

TEC was originally started as an experiment (a clan that would be different from all others) by Chiyu, using the pseudonym “Gale”. The Elemental Clan soon began to live a life of it’s own, becoming one of the biggest clans in 2000. Chiyu became too busy for managing two clans at the same time, as he was also the leader of CC, so TEC evolved into a big friendship clan without any real leaders. Later, it became allies with UR (the Ultra Rabbits, created by URjazz) and together with CC they created the first major clan group CTU.

In the summer of 2001, the clan decided to disband because of the bad atmosphere at JJ2 with all the “clan-fights”. Later that year, Stunner tried to revive TEC, but with a new name; LB. Only a few old TEC’s joined the Legendary Blades. A few months later, TEC was “officially” revived. This so-called TEC-2 merged with Anakin‘s clan The Bunny Tec, Tbt in 2002, to form the Empire of Light. EL was never really successful or active, and they died a few weeks later.

In 2003, TEC was revived again, resulting in “TEC-3”. This time they focused on clanwars and skill rather than friendship, but due to a lack of active members, they had no choice but to dissolve again. There have been several unofficial revival attempts in 2004.

Trivia

  • TEC did most of their recruiting in the level “TEC Hotel”, which was the only thing they hosted during their first months.
  • Everyone who wanted to join TEC had to adopt a new nickname, based on an “element” (not the scientific elements) to use in TEC. Later, this rule was abolished (which explains why there was a “Pikablu” in the clan).
  • TEC was one of the few clans that allowed unconditional multiclanning. No matter in what other clan you were, you could also be in TEC if you wanted to. This explains their large memberlist in 2000 and 2001 (40+ members).
  • TEC used a sort of secret code to communicate with eachother on message boards and such.
  • A lot of people use the so-called “TEC.exe” for connecting to 1.23 servers with a TSF client. And others use the so-called “TECJCS.exe” to skip passwords in JCS. Although a lot of people know nowadays how to do this themselves, many people still give credit to the clan TEC for having released these modifications so many years ago.

Members

As said above, TEC had a lot of members. Best known ones include:
  • During TEC-1: “Gale”, Flame, Ice, Leaf, Spy (aka DarkWasp), Dark, Light, Fossil (aka Saddam), Gold, Sand, Toxic, Talon and Stunner (aka Jurgen).
  • During TEC-2: Bolt, Flame, Spy, Sand, Snake, Saiyin and Unknown.
  • During EL: the same ones as during TEC-2, but with the addition of BunnyElmer (aka Anakin), Tweety, Gecko, Son Gohan (aka Warrior), Spy Spaz and Videl.
  • During TEC-3: Cloud, Leaf, Jolt and Snail.
